WOW!! Everyone is going great guns!! IT's fantastic! Inspired just now by @Brie 's lovely clear art desk, I am getting off my butt and into the office. This evening I plan on completing one of my 24 For 24 and actually creating something at the desk I can't quite even see! Wish me luck! This is a very big job! (I'm going to Yoga at 18:00 so I had better got on with it!!)
PS - Adding 25kg now that the Christmas trees are down and have been taken away by a charity for recycling. With the trees went a number of other Christmas bits and bobs that were damaged, broken, etc...
So total 59kg / 2024kgs which actually puts me a little ahead of target (I need to clear an average of 38kgs per week)
Keep going everyone! It feels so goodNovember 2023
I'm always in it, it's only the depth that varies....

Another busy day in the Flamingo nest!
Today we have decluttered
Pieces of the massive old bed and mattress, a weight bench, plastic storage unit, some plastic boxes, broken bits from fence panels, some old metal pipes, some ceramic plant pots, a bag of random smaller metal bits, as well as a pool table for my sister, all to the recycling centre. A BN cot and mattress to the health visitor (who turned out to be Junior F's health visitor from nearly 12 years ago!) for a family in need, and a coffee maker to a local FB person. Van is now going back, and my spare room (part laundry, part Mr F's darkroom for him film photography is now empty again.
Too many items/pieces to count, so assuming +100
Slowly but surely I'm starting to feel the progress in my home. It is infinitely easier to keep clean when the clutter is gone. Whenever I feel sad about discarding a Justin, or something I love but don't need or use, I remind myself that it is just a temporary feeling, and like all feelings it too will soon blow away like a dark cloud. My peace in my home is more valuable than the things I have filled it with.Married 40y.o. mum of an autistic 11y.o. Carer/SAHM.

So rather than contemplating my navel, I had a chat with neighbour J then decided to clean & sort my spice/condiments/oils cupboard. Three shelves emptied & cleaned + decanted/filled various jars etc & generally sorted 🙂
23 Packaging & pots decluttered
Now energised ready for cheerleading 😉
JingsMyBucket, sorry to hear that the dizziness has persisted 😔 Nothing for it but for you & Mr Jings to go into the TLC Carriage 😊
charlies_tribe, sounds about right 😉 Your DDs have been reading about ‘Nero fiddling whilst Rome burns’ & thought they would take a leaf out of his book whilst watching you work 😔What a PITA 😠 I hope you managed to find the source of the water that led to the damage & loss of toiletries 😔 A pound to a penny DD2 didn’t offer to help 😔 Great digital decluttering which is now over 10% of target 👏
Liverpool_Anne, you are in the wars 😔 although good news that your OH has finally tested negative 🙂 & I see that you still managed some decluttering & to deal with several tasks. Re bins - I don’t have one in the kitchen - I just use empty bread bags & pasta bags or take straight out to wheelie bin - currently about the only exercise I am getting 😅 Hope you had a better nights sleep last night 🤞
SuffolkSue, wow your decorator is a marvel 🤩 she deserves a medal 🏅 which is on its way 🙂 Excellent decluttering - you definitely have the bit between your teeth 👏 At this rate you will be clutter free by the end of the month 😉
What a lovely post Floss 😊 & even in the first week a timely reminder that decluttering is a long process 😉
Thanks for the list charlies_tribe 👏 I have taken a copy & will pick a room to have a go - once I have caught up with the cheerleading 😂
Excellent decluttering Natty68 - a great start to 2024 & your first full year in your new home 👏🥳
See everyone in a while, I need another cuppa 😉 DH is up & has had a phone chat with my DB. There is a smattering of snow in his area of Germany although not enough to build a snowman 😉

Rather sad now as just been chatting to one of the renters in the house next door 😔 Their contract ends in a couple of months & the landlord has whacked up the rent 😠 so they will all be moving. They have been such lovely neighbours, so I hope we are lucky again 🤞Now have another cuppa & am about to settle down again.
retiredinfrance, just a quick note to welcome you back & confirm that I have made a note of your 366 target for 2024 😊
short_bird, sounds like you had a lovely & frugal time in London 😊
vulpix, sorry to hear that your lurgy is making a comeback 😔 Fingers crossed that you don’t have the 100 day one 🤞Good luck with the fit bit 🍀
TheDoolallyDilly, Welcome aboard the 2024 EDT & thank you so much for sharing your life with us 👋 Sounds like you have had a bit of a time of it over the years but still manage to pick yourself up, dust yourself & come back stronger 😊 I have made a note of your intentions & look forward to following your progress 😊 An excellent start to your decluttering with 30/100 👏 🤩
Great decluttering wishus 👏
London_1, my records show that it was “Mr retiredinfrance” who first described us as ‘declutterati’ & the word is so descriptive that we have kept it 😊 More excellent decluttering 👏
Brie, good luck with disposing of the fridge, freezer & dishwasher 🍀 hopefully not too costly 🤞Your OH sounds lovely 🥰 “AND because I might have been barking marching orders for OH to do this, that, the other, he stopped and gave me a big hug and told me to stop stressing and that things would get done and be lovely. of course this did mean I couldn't complain about him going off to play on his computer for a while rather than doing all the things we had been discussing.....” this is the sort of thing my DH would do 😉 - they obviously went to the same school 😂
Excellent decluttering florianatwobob 👏 and what a lovely treat at the V&A 😊
Another page caught up but not quite as quickly as I had hoped 😉 DH has been distracting me whilst he is in the kitchen making a pot of soup for our lunches 😅 DSis finally put in an appearance - didn’t have a good night as she spent most of it in the bathroom being ill 😞 now hoping that she tries to get an appointment with the doctor 🙏

More tidying today. The cupboard under the sink has been sorted! I feel a sense of achievement. The box with surplus recycling has also left the kitchen. We can put extra recycling in a recyclable receptacle and our council will accept it. The recycling bin was emptied a bit before Christmas and the wheelie bin is now full and the overflow is considerable…..
it’s actually quite shocking to see just how much recycling there is. Better than going to landfill but…..eeek! I’m wondering how we can reduce that further.✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

Day 1 of Attic declutter , only found two extra large boxes from 1999 (when we moved into this house ) that have never been touched. One completely emptied and sorted , items put on freegle and within minutes claimed and collections made.
Ca 20 empty boxes that were being kept for fleabay sales broken up and recycled.
Looks like another two days of 6 hours per day and then it will be done.Success is the sum of small efforts repeated day in and day out.Thats what I keep telling myself :-)20 -

I’ve decided I really need to get back into decluttering. A huge amount of stuff exited our last home before we moved in July 2021, but there will be another move at some point soon-ish and I really need to sort through the things I didn’t quite get finished when we last moved - a lot of small items to sell on eBay (things I’d inherited but don’t want to keep) which went in boxes under the bed and are still there, plus a cupboard stashed full of old photos that need scanning and then binning. And then there are a couple of small black holes that have developed in this house.Haven’t quite decided how to count/ quite what to do yet. So I’ve booked marked this and I’m hoping to be inspired by the progress of others! Oh, and I’m hoping to declutter some excess weight too.
Thanks for setting this up Mrs SD!Declutter our home in 2024

Been keeping up with 24 things out a day (or more) since 1st. But a lot still to go. Included bag and box of books to the library. Never looks like I have made any progress there. May have to increase the number of books going out at a time.
Keeping up with the electronic decluttering. Computer says I deleted 967 things. But need to declutter more of the files, especially backup files for books I am not planning to finish writing.
I have decided that the major problem with the kitchen is that 5 of us buy our food separately and there aren't enough storage areas for it. Will need to figure that out soon. That and the roommate (G) who bought two complete packages of kitchen pots and pans - and about 6 appliances that he now doesn't use. We already had all of the pots and pans we needed. Will need to sort out and take some to the family shelter here in town. When the family shelter first opened almost fifty years ago, one of the organizations I belonged to sponsored an apartment and kept it decorated as new families moved in. We did this for about 20 years. It was a good place to recycle items to as it also had a storage area for items the families could take with them when they moved into their own apartments. When my group dissolved, I convinced Disneyland to take over sponsorship of our apartment. They have been doing it ever since. I have gotten out of the habit of taking things there every couple of months, and I need to get back into doing it. I think that would spur me on a bit especially in the kitchen and bathroom.
Hope everyone can stay warm and dry. The wind is really blowing outside, and it has been colder here. But no rain.

Wow, everyone's doing amazing.
I'm so behind! Tomorrow is my day!
Managed to sell a few bundles of yarn on ebay so that's some more things leaving the house.
I need to keep going but just struggling with the exhaustion at the moment. Will come back with a more concrete total tomorrow.
I planned on adding up what I sold and what I paid to buy in but that's going to be way too much. So let's just stick to the decluttering.
After paying out the ebay fees I'm not sure if it was worth it. 😬 hopefully people will be happy with their yarny bargains!January 2025 GC 🥕 £144.61 / £400
