Made a start and several pieces of paper gone. Laundry getting there with OH’s help. Went to a NT place yesterday and managed to keep out of the second hand book shop - we both have enough and need to read and donate quite a few before thinking of getting any more.Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅22

DD did bin some stuff from the loft room and her bedroom and hoovered for me upstairs and is going to do downstairs today.
I keep looking at stuff and thinking if we had to move I couldn't move all this stuff... We aren't planning to move for many years hopefully 😂20 -
Sorry if I am repeating myself, I can't remember what I said last on here.
First our washing machine broke just before Christmas and then our mattress developed a hole in it. I got up in the night last week and my leggings caught on the hole and ripped. I'm not sure how that happened, maybe my dog (a terrier) ripped it when she digs at night. We had to order a new mattress that has been aired out and we just put it on the bed with clean sheets. The old mattress will have to be picked up in the bulky waste so I will call them next week. I bet they will have a big backlog after Christmas so I am keeping the old mattress propped upstairs against the wall at the moment. I threw away the ripped fitted sheet as well. We still have a couple of bits lying around in the garden shed from the work on our flooring that can go in the bulky waste too.
I made my way through quite a few lotions on my feet and body all week as I have lots of half used products lying around in my drawer. I cut the tubes open and it is amazing how much product was still left in there! I still have half a bottle of a mango body lotion that I have had for ages and two other half empty serums to use up.
I am on day 7 of Dry January and still feeling sluggish. I read it is apparently day 10 that you are meant to feel better and have improved sleep etc... I am still making my way through the books on my kindle and watching Seal Team in the evenings. I'm up to the the start of season 4 today. I have bought these Purdey drinks that are meant to give you energy and they are quite good for replicating a glass of wine in the evening as the grape one looks quite like a glass of white wine!I'm going to have a nice bath tonight and hopefully have a good sleep with my fresh new mattress.
I didn't take the donation bag yet so I will do that tomorrow. I have two vet appointments and the dentist next week which should be fun! I'm going to book the cinema and maybe a restaurant for next Thursday or Friday just to have something to look forward to.

fritzie-65, you can count however you like, whatever is meaningful to you. I don't count everyday maintenance but some people do. I don't count digital decluttering though I do do it. I just count actual physical things that leave the house. I do however count bags of soft plastics, bags of used batteries and bags of blister packs as I have to go out of my way to dispose of them. I sometimes count a frog if it has been a big ugly one!
A fb sale today. Punch bowl.6 cups and a ladle collected. I did like it but the days of me hosting a soiree are over. Dish with a crack binned.
I have a confession. This recording things in is killing me! It is very hard to face how much I bring into the house. We went to the shops yesterday just for bread as we are eating down the freezer and cupboards. It just so happens that there is a pound chazzer just right there. I bought a fancy tee shirt for my Mum, and a blouse,a summer top, and a summer cardigan pour moi. I won't declare them yet as I am yet to try them on. No defence but I am slowly losing weight and as clothes get too big I oust them so I will need to wear something! No, not buying that one? My name is Vulpix and I am a clothesaholic.

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks + a weekly Jettison Junk in January
2. Sort out sleep patterns - target bed by 2:00 a.m. & up by 9:00 a.m
3. Deal with mail & email on a daily basis
4. Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
5. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
6. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Sunday, I was up at 09:20 to a dry day & by 10:20 the sun was shining - long may it last 🤞It brightens the day even if it doesn’t raise the temperature 🥶 just 3C 😉
QueenJess, well if that isn’t proof that 2024 is your year, I might have to eat my hat 😅 Hopefully large mirror hung up by DH = DH’s commitment to decluttering & helping you 🤞😅
Brambling, Tom Cruise is wrong for so many things 😉 but money talks 😔
ilovetea, maybe next time you open the cupboard of Doom you could take out the item/s you need plus 1 or 2 to declutter 🤔
Brie, good news that you don’t have to deal with the cardboard as there is rather a lot of it 😉
GrannyKate, love the idea of decluttering children…….. even it is only for a few days 😂 If the cold isn’t decluttered then you really should be in the TLC Carriage 😊
Just had a 5 minute break to make my 2nd cuppa & took the opportunity to empty the office recycling & decant coffee from tin to jar & olive oil from bottle to fancy glass pourer 🙂 I seem to have picked up a cold so I also have a lemsip

London_1, I think paperwork expands in inverse proportion to the time needed to declutter & shred it 😔 Excellent work decluttering the contents of the plastic boxes 👏 Hope you managed to declutter your cookery books yesterday 🤞Your first cookery book is definitely a keeper, not only for sentimental reasons but also for the price ticket 😅
TC77, some excellent decluttering on Friday 👏 I agree that ‘tinkering’ is the way forward with your decluttering but just until you can see the wood for the trees 😉 Fingers crossed that you managed to make progress on your frog 🤞
Excellent decluttering TheEmerald 👏 especially as you have Covid. Remember to spend some time in the TLC Carriage whilst you are trying to declutter Covid 😉
Excellent decluttering of books thriftwizard 👏 Sorry to hear that you are coming down with a massive cold especially as it means cancelling your planned sales 😔 Please give yourself lots of TLC 🙏 Not quite sure what ‘team you are letting down’ 🤔 but I think we would all sooner you got better rather than making yourself feel worse by standing around in the cold 😉
nannywindow, remember that any food consumed from the TLC Carriage buffet plates is calorie free 😂 Unfortunately this years cold lurgy seems to be particularly debilitating 😔 so please take of yourself & your family 🙏 Shame about the food waste - where do DGC disappear to when it comes to eating fruit 🙃
bit_by_bit, very pleased to hear that DS1 has grasped the bull by the horns re his financial planning 👏 Your MiL & FiL are very lucky to have you not only for booking their Norwegian cruise but also taking them shopping 😇 Friday was a busy day what with helping the in-laws, dealing with frogs & decluttering + all of this done whilst struggling with the lurgy 🤩👏
BudgetingBelinda, what a lovely post 😊 So nice to read that the combination of decluttering & cleaning is having such a positive effect on your wellbeing 🤗 Hope the freezer defrost went well 🤞
vulpix, some excellent decluttering whilst MrV was out 👏 I take it he was ‘gigging’ - so no sign of retirement 😉 Sorry to hear about the thumb - seems to be head & hands that bleed profusely from relatively minor cuts 😔 You do know that you don’t have to injure yourself to take a break from decluttering 😂 or to stop & enjoy your newly renovated sitting room 😊 Nice to hear that Justin can come good even if only occasionally 😉 Good luck with the Frogs 🍀
Being a tad slow today, so will post this, make another drink & have a few minutes of contemplating my navel 😉

Loving the Ziggy!!! Looks an absolute imp!!
Meanwhile - the kitchen declutter continues.
OH was tasked with going through the food cupboards yesterday with the result of one whole bin bag of OOD sauces, spices etc. His own fault really as he gets an idea of cooking a curry and goes to "that great little shop with all the Indian stuff" and buys a kilo bag of garam masala or similar. Noticed this morning that he didn't actually get to the big drawer with all the pasta or the other cupboard which has his 78 types of tea (as opposed to my 9) and also all the baking stuff.
I meanwhile have cleaned and tidied my art desk as a possible site for the kettle and toaster for the next week. But wondering if we actually will want the toaster.... And I've washed a lot of the things that normally just sit on the counter - spice rack and some grubby jars, napkin holder (why?), gone through the fridge to fill another bag of OOD food. Normally I'm not too fussed about dates as there's a reason gherkins are in vinegar and I know they don't go off if not eaten within 6 weeks or whatever it says on the jar. And I've moved a few things that are in the kitchen that don't need to be - exacto knives for instance that are of more use in my art desk!!
Next step will be to go through the glass ware and see what's excess to requirements or needs to be put somewhere safe.
Proof of tidy art desk complete with paint trays all washed for the first time in about 3 years...and bag packed ready to go to the first class of 2024!! So organised!!!
