2024 DECLUTTERING CAMPAIGN MrsSD

Hello all!

As i stare at the decoration in the window and tinsel on the mirror I realise that i’ve not quite taken everything down!

Been to the tip today with some general household extra rubbish from Christmas/New Year but more importantly the wood from some shelves that have been shifted around for the last 6 months as maybe it would be useful for some thing?!

My house is a state, I start projects, keep things just in case and it’s really taking a toll on my mental health. Once one thing appears it just seems to multiply and I use this as an excuse to not clean as I need to sort it first. I sit procrastinating of what I need to do but never quite make it off the settee. I don’t know why I feel that this year will be different but I just do!

So the plan for the rest of January is that I declutter/find a proper place for ten things a day, put twenty things on vinted and (as a minimum) the following four jobs:-
1 fix the drawer in the kitchen 
2 clean the shower screen and keep it that way
3 spring clean and check dates of stuff in food cupboard 
4 sort five things in backyard 

I have a monthly page in my diary so the above is in there so i can check and remember to report back!

Evening all, think I have the dreaded cold that all of my family had over the past few weeks 😕. All aches and bleurgh! 
Had a busy day with food shopping and buying some more clothes for dd2 (5yo) who has had yet another growth spurt! Must have been the selection box Santa left 🤣
Managed to also fit in a birthday party and a trip to the vets for Ziggy for a weigh session.. 4kg now 🤣 He fitted into my hand 5 months ago! 
Here is a picture of him now; managed a spot of decluttering this evening and filled bag number 5.... the worrying thing is all so far is surface clutter and there is still loads of it!
 having the rest of the night off to watch Lost, exciting!

its Saturday evening and have spent the day helping DD with her studies. 

DH cleaned the oven whoop de whoop, it was the worst job on my January list, so I enjoyed crossing that off. DS1 cleaned the white drawers in the kitchen so that was another one off the list. DS1 chopped more wood and has single handedly filled the whole 3 part wood store. I now need to find and build somewhere else in the garden where we can store the wooden from the 2 trees which were cut down just before xmas. 

The lounge is much clearer now and I have made the dining room table smaller and it is so much better, we can move around much more easily! plus deleted 1250+ emails from my inbox ~ hurrah.!!!!

also yesterday I did two further jobs from the list , clean the woodburner and wax the mantle piece wood. ~ go me!

Wow 63 posts to catch up on. I can't keep up. Minimal decluttering this week but used time to catch up with friends, muddy walks and day trip to the beach for chips and to play on the 2p machines.
Today I have been spoilt with cards and gifts, money, gift cards and some lovely Clogau jewellery and homemade cake 🎂.

Hi again
I've sorted out one kitchen cupboard, some OOD biscuits put in food recycling bin and an empty tin put in the CS bag. Washed a couple of storage jars that had half a teaspoon of hot choc and cocoa each inside.

Sorted out some paperwork and shuffled some bits around the bedroom.

A slow day as cold/lurgy still lingering - I know lots of us have the same.  Fits of coughing and sneezing have stopped at least.  Went out to antique centre with DS2 - a bit cold but we had a wander round.  Nothing bought for me but DS2 did see some vinyl he wanted so I agreed to get it for DGCs to give him for his birthday in a fortnight.  Mainly started some electronic decluttering.  Only one item in washing basket this evening but I have some bedding to do tomorrow. DS2 did baked sweet potatoes filled with some diced lamb (from chops) and fresh spinach.  It was very nice.  Gradually emptying freezer.

27 General tat binned
28 Photos downloaded and labelled and saved in folder for year.  New folder started for 2024.
29 Everything in download folder on computer identified, renamed and saved or deleted.  Download folder is empty. 
30 A number of random Family History downloads and screen shots sorted, labelled and put in the right place.

Hello.
Never got round to posting last night as I fell asleep. When I woke up it was bed time.
Did a few things though.
56-57 rubbish and re cycling out.
58-83  e-bay items posted.
84. Card used from stash.
Today:-
85. Christmas t.v. guide gone.
86, Flowers in bin. Had them3 weeks so can't complain.
87. Handful of  tatty card blanks. recycling.
88 envelopes. As above.
89-90.  Cardboard boxes that some decorations came in. Now with the others in one big box.

Oh my word. An absolute ton of decluttering, cleaning, furniture moving, and sorting at SILs. We took 50 bin bags to the tip as well as a fridge, a freezer, various electricals, and a chest of drawers.  She was also going to throw a cot and mattress in the packaging that was never used. We've brought that home, and one of the local health visitors is collecting it tomorrow for a family in dire straits with a newborn, so it's good to know its both not in landfill and going to someone who desperately needs it

Also brought home, 5 cans of fence paint. Wanted to paint it but couldn't afford the paint, so that's good. 

Nothing has been done in my house as we were gone all day! But tomorrow is our own tip run day, so hoping to do some decluttering that counts towards my total
