Whew its a warm one today, we unpacked 8 boxes today and barely made a dent in the pile, DD starts work on Tuesday in Ryde and we popped in yesterday and she introduced herself She was pleased to do so to break the ice, and they made her really welcome.
Tomorrow it's registering for council tax, and new Doctors etc so more paperwork to fill in.
A chap knocked on the door this afternoon with some post for me apparently there are 5 no.2 houses in our road owing the different builders over the years building two houses at a time .This chap came from No 2 G******** cottage and we are No.2 C***** cottage apparently the local postmen are used to itreally the whole road needs renumbering but no one will agree to it
I had to tell the chap my DD and son-in-laws surname, as its obviously different from mine. Its going to be an interesting time at Christmas
The dogs love the local beach, and it was very peaceful and almost empty yesterday ,but then the Country show was on outside Cowes so we decided to give it a miss because of traffic and the dogs getting too excited ,(they would rather un on the beach anyway)
I'm really enjoying it now we've finally moved, and the neighbours are really nice and friendly and knocked to introduce themselves the day after we moved in.
Right tennis finished, so on with the football tonight
Cheers chums

@vulpix and other crafters is there a use for old curtain linings? My dad had a suitcase of cotton curtain linings, nice quality but some have a few marks and trying to think if anyone can use them.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Temple University in the United States puts out a list for the professors of what the incoming freshman might be used to and what won't work as some events aren't in their memory banks at all. No references to television sets that need to be turned on by knobs, never heard of the millennium bug and our fear of computer problems, even in this country, 9/11 is not an event that happened during their lifetime. Trying to keep up basically with living history so as to be relevant to the younger people. We had a young lady living here and sometimes she would ask what we originally thought were strange questions, than realized she had had no idea what a hand-held can opener was or even what a tea kettle was used for. It is just a totally different world.15

You're right weenancyinAmerica, its not things you have to learn when you've lived through it lol
Its taken me moment just to digest that but of course you are right, 9/11 is before many people's birth date nowadays

Floriana sorry to hear your news, been there and done that too. Radical full hysterectomy - everything went in the bin, straight into menopause and radiotherapy. I will say that having a hysterectomy these days is a LOT better than it was, especially if you can get away with keyhole like I did. It really makes recovery much easier. 1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks + a weekly Mini Mission in May
2. Sort out sleep patterns - target bed by 2:00 a.m. & up by 9:00 a.m
3. Deal with mail & email on a daily basis
4. Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
5. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
6. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Sunday started bright & sunny ☀️ I was up before 11:00 as I wanted to watch the Men’s Invitational Doubles. Great match although I was disappointed that the BBC with so many presenters couldn’t be bothered to have a commentator 😠 The winners then had their children running around the court carrying the trophy - lovely to see 😊 I then watched the end of the Men’s Wheelchair Final - a great result 🥳 In fact an entire day of watching ‘other’ tennis but only the last 15 minutes of the Men’s Final 😉 I have really enjoyed watching the wheelchair tennis - phenomenal playing & the fact that the results were so good made it even more enjoyable 😊 I also watched the Mixed Invitational Doubles - so lovely to see past players still competing & still with the same hunger to win but also having fun 🥳 Apart from watching the tennis, I have been knitting. DH on the other hand has been quite busy 😉 He filled the bird feeders, helped our new ndn’s fix their garage door, mowed the front lawn & packed his bag ready for an overnight stay in Wales as he is doing the RBR 😊 Leaving tomorrow at 08:00 & hoping to be home about 19:00 on Tuesday. I did all the prep work for dinner & then noticed the time 😉 so started cooking. Enlisted DH to make gravy from scratch so that I could warm through the beef which I had taken out of the freezer & defrosted in the fridge. Dinner was delicious - along with the beef we had roasted potatoes, carrots & tomatoes, green beans & cabbage + Yorkshire puddings 😋 I am now binge watching six episodes of TWD before doing the washing up. Wudupa.

A totally dry day with some sunshine & not a drop of rain 🥳 Is it too much to hope that summer has finally started 🤞
Great post TC77 & some great decluttering 👏 Well done on getting rid of most of the wedding photos 👏
Soontobeoap sounds like you had a great time cleaning the decking 👏 & saved money on an expensive beauty treatment 😂
Excellent decluttering florianatwobob 👏 Difficult & stressful times ahead for both your DSis & DBro1 so sending cwtches to them, you & the rest of your family 🤗
vulpix, some great ideas for TC77 re the curtain lining 🙂 Sorry to hear that you are feeling out of sorts 😔 (I try very hard to avoid thinking - it an be very dangerous 😂) Don’t forget to pick up a couple of Bakewell tarts for the TLC Carriage 😉
daisy_1571, in line with the discussion about years, I am constantly surprised about how old films are 😦 Currently watching Die Hard - 36 years old & even one of my favourite films Law Abiding Citizen is 15 years old already 😱 Just to make matters worse Gone With The Wind 85 years old, Casablanca 82 & 12 Angry Men 67 😥 & of course first man on the moon 55 years ago 😉
London_1, so pleased to hear that you are settling in & getting to know your neighbours especially as you all seem to be living at No.2 🤣 Glad to hear that the dogs have given their seal of approval to your move 😊 Good luck with the unpacking 🍀
Well said weenancy 😊 & I am in full agreement with daisy_1571 😉 I am still pondering exactly how we used to make any arrangements without access to mobile phones 🤨
vulpix, now that has me really puzzled “cricket bat = mobile phone” 🤔
suzeesu2000, thank you for sharing your experience 🥹 Great decluttering 👏
Off to bed now after sending cwtches to everyone 🤗 sleep tight 😴 P.S. shame about the football result ☹️
