Evening all
Just a quick one saying hello - will post a catch up later this week as paid work is manic. No decluttering here at the moment cos right now I'm just using our house as a base for sleep and food 🤣🤣8 -
1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks + a weekly Mini Mission in May
2. Sort out sleep patterns - target bed by 2:00 a.m. & up by 9:00 a.m
3. Deal with mail & email on a daily basis
4. Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
5. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
6. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Of course it was sunny when I went to bed 😂 but not when I got out of bed on Tuesday about noon 🙊 A mostly overcast day with some sunshine & a couple of short showers = Day 1 of 40 😉 DSis did her laundry today but wasn’t brave enough to hang it out on the whirligig 😔 I did precisely nothing apart from a few rows of knitting & watching TV. Although I did make spaghetti bolognaise for dinner. DH phoned about 16:00 to say that he was on his way home. The satnav reckoned he would be home by 19:00 (assuming 30mph through London) 🤣) He arrived home 20:02 😔 with only a 5 minute burst of rain so he didn’t get wet 🙂 I dished up our dinner at 20:20. Well ! what a difference 24 hours can make. We are going to view a house. I have been awake most of the night knocking walls down and decorating. A village I have never lived in and slightly out of my area. Further into the National Park. Of course it's just my cup of tea, a Victorian doer upper. Gosh it takes it out of you putting French doors in and re designing the garden before breakfast. It's the only thing I have seen that excites me. Can't wait for the rubble and dust.

Morning all - back in UK after blistering heat in Greece. Fabulous holiday. Will post more when I have caught up on posts and finished washing mountain. Meanwhile some 'Greek' views - the church where some of Mamma Mia was filmed (yes I walked up the 199 steps) and a very happy cat - after the fisherman at the harbour tossed him his dinner.
My main job is to find a house to live in.

Oh thank you so much for the star Mrs SD, I shall wear it with pride!
We think we might be moving towards the end of August now, but like 4 days after we get back from a holiday 😨 So lots of pressure to get as much sorted as possible before we go.
More decluttering done:
584 - 607: Books donated to Oxfam books
608 - 614: More ornaments decluttered to charity shop
615 - 629: Candle holders decluttered to charity shop
And I've managed to plan out meals for the next 3 weeks that will empty the freezer, most of the fridge and some of the cupboard so we have one more thing sorted before we go away. Plus I can try and defrost the freezer when we're back if I feel nice for the new owners!Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 201713 -
Another bag of plastic bags taken to the supermarket plus a bag of bits to the charity shop.
The shoes/sports sandals I'm going to see if someone would like before I charity shop them.
I popped into m and s and bought myself some pants and trainer socks, as I've slimmed out of my pants and been struggling with a bit letting the larger sizes go.Decluttering campaign 2023

Hello,👋 it’s been so long since I last posted I thought I should call in mainly to offer my love to all those going through worrying times at the moment.
I’m still not in a great place – not a bad place but not a good place. The builders are still theoretically here so I still don’t have the place to myself. It barely feels like my house, let alone my home. But I do know that this is something that has to be done for the greater good. I find that having routines disrupted and not being able to put anything away, (everything is still being moved from room to room), is taking a toll on me, and not only me. One of my cat’s has taken to peeing on the carpet in the bedroom so I’ve got to sort that.
It's the little things that get to you, not knowing if the workmen are coming today or not and at what time. They are generally very good but communication as to when the next phase will start is a bit lacking as I guess they don’t really know. This weather must be playing havoc with their scheduling. So, I’m stuck in the house most days, a little bit like in Covid and trying to squeeze all the basic bits into the Sundays that they aren’t here and unable to plan anything.
The latest dilemma is the RSJ. It turns out that there was never a supporting wall downstairs and the brick wall upstairs is built on the floorboards with a joist almost underneath. So, one guy suggested leave it, another thought is to knock down the wall between the bedrooms and replace it with a stud wall but the boss seems to want to put in the RSJ. The only problem with that is there is no support for the beam downstairs at one end other than build a pillar in the entrance doorway. They are also contemplating bolting it to the side wall of the doorway but that’s actually a chimney wall so I’m not convinced it will take the strain and judging by the fact they aren’t here, neither are they. Add to that, I have no idea how they will get a 3.3 metre metal beam into the room as my windows only have the little openings at the top and the room is at the back of the house with very little access. So, I’m feeling a bit stressed out by it all.
The fence repositioning is still to be done but my neighbours are on holiday so that can’t be done until they are back. Hence, it’s feeling a bit endless, but I do know it’s getting there.
When they said that they weren’t going to do anything about the beam, (before the subsequent rethinks), I started replanting the front garden so I now fear for my cavelo nero that I planted in the front border as I can’t do anything in the back until the fence is moved. It's a bit Catch 22 here!
The only things going out of the house at the moment has been the weekly recycling and a car-load of old pampas grass my DS1 kindly took to the tip on his way home the other day. And, as it’s sale time on the big river store, stuff is coming in – planned expense such as a doorbell and cat mats for under their litter trays and a cat exercise wheel to try and tire out my 2 year old cat.
I’m still itching to get all my boxes unpacked and collate everything and then move on a lot of it but I’m beginning to think that it’s not going to happen until next year as the rear garden will be the next priority.
Sorry for the long ramble but it’s actually a good sign that I can write/post again so I’ll take that as a positive. 😁
Thank you all for being there and posting and belated congratulations to Jackie on her move to the IOW and to all those in the process of moving. Commiserations to those whose planned moves aren’t going so well – the strain is enormous so big hugs there. xx💕💕

Forgot to say, I'm up to episode 4 of the Swedish death cleaning. I'm really enjoying them. Love the presenters accents and the rather irreverent voice over lol. lovely photos granny Kate
Dnd that all sounds very stressful. I'm sure the building company really don't understand the toll the non communications take on a householder.
It sounds, to a complete layman, like the removal of the heavy wall and replacing it with the lighter stud wall might be the simplest method ? I know you have to take their advice but it is your house so if you don't want a new pillar in the livingroom you need to put your preferences forward?
