Thank you for the tips on buttons and ribbon - will have to see if I can weave something with the ribbon as I have a lot of it that my best friend bought me for a present about 18 months ago.
The buttons might be a little harder but definitely like the idea of using them on cards! I also like the idea of making shapes with them with the little sayings. Maybe some ideas for Christmas cards who knows!12 -

Hi, We have had my son and Grandson visit today. We went for a lovely lunch at a great little cafe just off a local cycle/ walking trail, a disused railway line. Not as busy as usual, I think too hot to be strenuous. Then on to see Great Grandma who must have been hot cos she had cracked a window open!
Sent DS home with a garden trowel, fork, weeding tool and an axe. He filled a big container with water so he can have a nice cup of tea at home with our tap water.
My Mum has given me her Mum's engagement ring which fits me perfectly and I love it, she has also given us a wodge of money, I haven't counted it but looks to be about £500. She also gave me a wedding album from my first wedding. Oooof, the fashions. I will give some photos to the kids and chuck the rest. Ah yes, she also gave me an unfinished hand sewn patchwork quilt. I have said I will finish it. She doesn't want it back, it is a double and she has a single bed now.
Mr V continues to improve and has decided to go to work Saturday morning. Should be ok, no lifting of equipment required.
Tomorrow is the last day of dry weather forecast for us so I will do a bit more gardening and start painting the shed village. I forgot to ask DS to move a heavy planter for me. It will be a while before he comes again. He starts his new job next Monday, he is looking forward to the commute so he can read.
Friday will be the official start of summer as I will be busting the white linen trousers out.We are meeting DD1 and BF in Manchester for a curry on the curry mile. They are here for a festival I think, can't keep up. Apparently they are in Glasgow atm. I know not why.
Crazybunnylady, Pinterest is your friend. I get a lot of ideas from there. At the moment I need to be making some crafted gift tags. The craft group are decorating a Christmas tree in the local church tree festival with gift tags in whatever style we like. They are a rainy day job.
Have a lovely holiday GrannyKate. Best wishes to everyone. Vx:13 -
Lovely engagement ring that fits, dosh and patchwork quilt. They sound like excellent ways to reclutter
Glad Mr v feeling good enough to go to work

Wednesday - we had a relaxed start. Got up about 08:45, finished packing, had coffee & then spent an hour or so chatting to our hosts before finally setting off at 10:50 with overcast skies & the threat of rain. However as we headed south & back into England the skies cleared, the sun came out & the temperature rose to 23C. It stayed warm & pleasant for the rest of the day whilst we got the landmarks🙂 We arrived at our hotel - The Grantham Arms in Boroughbridge at 16:15. Sadly we have a room in the pub rather than one of the rooms out back with their own courtyard (which is where we have been the last few times) We booked dinner & went to our room. Relaxed for an hour or so then showered & changed & went down at 18:55. Had a couple of beers & ordered dinner. DH had sticky chilli beef with prawn crackers followed by sirloin steak, chunky chips, onion rings & tomatoes 🤤 I had baked goats cheese with roasted cherry tomatoes & chutney 🤤🤤 followed by 2 salmon fillets in a pesto cream sauce with new potatoes, fine green beans & spinach. Absolutely delicious 😋 🤤 Stuffed to the gunnels & DH had half a salmon fillet to help me out 😉 Back in our room by 21:05. About 22:00 DH made coffee. Another lovely day but was sad to leave our hosts this morning 😔
weenancy, mummy cat obviously knew you would take her kitten in 😉 Sorry to hear about Di’s fall & having to call out the paramedics 😔 Hopefully Di’s ankle is on the mend & her black eye doesn’t make her look like she has gone 10 rounds with Muhammad Ali 😧 Fingers crossed that the skunk/s will be moved on to a new location 🤞Another very busy day after minimal sleep 😔 Please, please try to find some time for yourself that doesn’t involve hanging around in hospitals 🙏 That is warm - 32C 🥵 apparently my DSis is bemoaning the fact that it has been 29C in London for the last couple of days.
A beautiful & heartfelt post daisy_1571 ☺️ Hopefully weenancy will be able to find another home for the kitten especially now that he has been checked over by the vet 🙏
Great decluttering butterfly2507 👏
Great decluttering GrannyKate 👏 I love that one of the criteria for your new home is “safety for a pet” 😊 Hopefully your new swimming costume met your expectations 🤞😉
Good work with the photos, butterfly2507 👏
QueenJess, I do believe that is what we call ‘selective hearing’ 😬 So sorry to hear that your parents won’t just do as you ask 😔 Not really a rant more like a plea being sent out into the cosmos in the hope that your parents might actually pay attention to what you say & want 🙏 More power to DS - perhaps he can tell his grandparents that he doesn’t want any more stuff…… as it upsets his mummy 😉
Another lovely post daisy_1571 😊 I think we might have to run a course for QueenJess’s parents - How to Listen to Your Grown-up Daughter 😅
Another busy Sunday Florenceem 👏 Everything crossed that your DGD manages to sort out a plane seat so she can come home 🤞🙏 Hope you managed to get some answers from the doctor on Monday 🤞🙏
I am nodding off so will post this now & get some sleep 😴 Cwtches for all but especially large & gentle ones for those who are currently struggling with RL 🤗🤗🤗🤗

Even though our room is very warm I managed 2 x 2.5 hour sleeps before being fully awake at 05:30 & deciding to do a little cheerleading 😉 I did forget yesterday’s animal sightings - the usual cows, horses & sheep but also another rabbit & a pheasant 🙂
Thanks vulpix 😊 Of course, now I stiffen up a little when we are turning right at any junction 😉 Fingers crossed that this reaction passes soon 🤞Thank you for the lovely tales of cat ownership 😊 Poor Fomo 😔 I hope he gets lots of extra cuddles from you & MrV 🤞As I read “I got the office out….” I had visions of you emptying out a large room & thinking how brave 👏 This immediately turned to pure admiration at the fact that your paperwork is so well organised that it fits in a plastic box 🤩 Well done on your continuing weight loss 👏 I see that Fomo was getting extra cuddles on Monday even though you wanted to sort out a it of gardening 😉 I admit to being very pleased to read that you have decided to employ someone to help you sort out the top garden 😮💨
QueenJess, all you can do is keep plugging away & hopefully your parents will finally get the message 🙏 Just wondering if they do the same thing to your sister? 🧐
-taff, good post 👏 although I suspect that QueenJess has also tried the direct approach as well as the subtle hints 😉
Floss, more great ideas for QueenJess 😊
Wednesday2000, very pleased to hear that you enjoyed the Taylor Swift concert despite the constant screaming 😉
Nodding off again now so will post & try to get another hour of sleep 🤞

I'm the only one with kids, my sis never wanted any and never plans to have any so EVERYTHING is coming my wayIf you want a silver lining, then it is teaching me about what does/doesn't keep (including changes in fashions etc, even things like books get dated) and the false value in saving things for the next generation. To be fair, DD is teaching me the latter on her own... they have such strong personalities/likes/dislikes that there is no value in keeping everything as they have their own preferences. Definitely a small very curated selection is the way to go. For DD I have very little to no clothes in reserve for her now from DS as they are too different in what they like.
Not really any decluttering done yesterday as it was too hot. Must try harder today/tomorrow!Digital:

Hi all,
@crazybunnylady4 I also have lots of ribbons and buttons but I do like ribbon on cards when I get a chance to make them
@Soontobeoap and @weenancyinAmerica and @Floss great suggestions for using the ribbon and buttons, I love them all and have stored those ideas in my brain for future use
@Vulpix very glad to hear Mr V is feeling well enough to return to work. Decluttering water to your DS to make a decent cup of tea made me smile, it's one of the things I always look forward to when returning home from a holiday
. As for the gifts from your Mum that's just lovely. She must appreciate all the work you have done clearing her house
I love the idea of crafted gift tags, what a great way to use up all those little bits of stuff, the possibilities are endless
@Mrs SD google continues to be used but a shame you were in the pub rather than the courtyard. I have stayed in a couple of places that have converted their old stable blocks into bedrooms and I am always happy to get one of those rooms. Welcome back to England
Yesterday I spent hours in the garden, I came in at 6.30 to make the tea. To be fair I did take a break for lunch and had a long break for coffee over the fence with ln but I have made a good dint in hacking back a few bushes. 4 bags into the green waste bin and a bag of odd gubbins into the bin. I have spotted a bramble that needs to be chopped but I can't reach it without chopping other stuff so I have a large vase of buddleia flowers sitting in the lr smelling gorgeous but more needs doing as I came across a whole pile of pots covered in ivy that I had stashed behind a little wall that I need to move to get to the bramble. I have realised that if I chop everything quite small I can fit more into the green bin so I hope to get some more in today after it has settled a bit, if not I will take a big bag to the tip. The tip might be a good option actually as I have hard plastic waiting to go and a bag of rags that I was collecting for the cs, I asked them if it would be useful and they said yes, but the cs is still closed and I can't hang on to it much longer. I had a bit of an accident in the garden yesterday, a branch I was trying to remove gave way suddenly and I hit my mouth on another branch, now sporting a grazed upper lip though the swelling has mostly gone down after the application of a cold, frozen, compress while having the coffee break. It's not bad just a reminder that I am not as young and nimble as I used to be
. The kitchen recycling was also emptied again as I am disposing of random bits as I come across them, continuing with the executive decisions without reference to OH
.
Today I have to pop out to get a couple of birthday presents but I have decided what I am getting so that makes it much easier and thankfully it's a bit cooler today so the whole thing will be much more pleasant
Better get weaving or there will be no time for more garden destruction. Hugs to everyone who would like one

Take care everyone
