Morning all.
Took it upon myself before the disgusting heat hits the attic bedroom, to go through some of my craft stash.
I already have wool put to one side that I'm using for the wildlife charity project; the rest is a bit of a mountain that may take a couple days to sift through.
This morning went through the main draw unit. Unearthed some old finished projects that need framing - and luckily within the heap of stuff I fished through I located a picture frame for one and a hoop which is around the otherjust need to get them sorted which I can do myself - taught myself how to lace the back of my own work, always seems to come out fine and I begrudge paying vast sums to the specialist framers who are an hour away!
Found three patterns which need to be filed (I have 2 big lever archive folders for my patterns on another shelf) so thats quite an easy task later.
Moved some odd size resealable plastic bags to the kitchen...no idea why they were in the back of a craft draw??!?!
Found an embroidery magazine from ages ago (from 2020!) with a free kit I never started...might see if I can make it for DMums birthday in October.
Also....does anyone have a way of using up ribbon and buttons?!?!??!?!

Morning all - off out to lunch today - can't remember what I've ordered but suspect it will be too hot to eat much. Hot and sunny here after an overcast but muggy start. Today has been paperwork day and I've eaten a lot of frogs and tadpoles and deleted hundreds of emails. In box almost empty.
695 Banking done
696 All June birthday cards posted along with early July ones.
697 Packaging for electric fan recycled - keeping boxes as DS2 is selling stuff from loft
698 DS2 sold bundle of DVDs - sent off
699-708 At least 10 frogs dealt with for one committee I am on. I have even replied to the replies to my emails. Papers etc all sent to person kindly covering whilst I am away
709 paper written and sent off for another committee which meets just after I come back
710 Deposit etc sent to solicitors so I can refer any buyers to them if I get an acceptable offer. I've probably put the mockers on that by being prepared.
I've parked the fact that I haven't a house to buy yet at the back of my brain. Packing tomorrow so I am ready to go Sunday. Not flying until Weds very early so a couple of days break at DDs or maybe that will be taking DGD1 (age 17) to horse yard and her job - DD has checked us in on line. I think I will wear one of my new dresses to go out today - it should be cooler. I sat in the children's swimming pool last night with a glass of wine and tried out my new two piece swimming costume. (I like those for boat trips etc but there will not be any photos.)2025 Decluttering Campaign 682/2025 🏅🏅🏅🏅(🏅🏅) 🌟🌟

Hi all,
@butterfly2507 good going with the photos. This is something I really need to do
@Wednesday2000 nice pictures of Taylor Swift. I think I understand the need for the about 40 lorries that arrived here before her concert, it was to accommodate her wardrobe, I don't think she wore any of those outfits when she was here, at least not in the pics I saw
. It made me think about my wardrobe in a completely different way
.
@Pennypincin I think you might be using too much powder if it isn't rinsing away. I know washing machines vary as does hardness of the water and this can make a difference. Try using less powder and see if it helps, I use powder and don't have any problems but we have quite soft water here. I have seen methods for making your own washing liquid somewhere on this forum but I have never tried them but others seem to think they work and save them money
@QueenJess in hotter places they adjust the working day and in many places have air conditioning. I lived in Kuwait for a few years and basically work started at 7am and there was a long break in the middle of the day and continued for a couple of hours at 4pm but the big difference was the air conditioning
@Florafauna hang on, it won't be long now. They do say moving house is one of the most stressful things to do, big hugs.
Yesterday I sorted 2 bags of gubbins, mainly trainers. 1 bag from under my bed and 1 bag from the conservatory. I have been wearing old trainers to work in the garden but they weren't a pair. I had a collection of old trainers that I used to use when I took the kids from school on residentials for their DofE and used them for the muddy bits
. It is something I have been meaning to deal with for a while but it took me ages to remember where I had stashed them so yesterday was the day I bit the bullet and hunted them down
I have no idea what was in my head when the bags were packed as both bags only had 1 pair, all the rest being odd trainers so they were reunited with their partners and checked over. 2 pairs were beyond use and were binned, a pair of OH's that had ingratiated themselves into the bags were put in the washing machine along with a pair of canvas shoes of mine, both dried quickly and put where they live. I checked the rest over and selected the most worn but still useable for working in the garden and the rest have been put in the wardrobe so I know where they are when I wear out the current pair. During my excavations in the conservatory I also found a massive empty plastic bottle, no idea what it was kept for so that went into the recycling and lots of carp into the bin so the kitchen bin was emptied again. Doesn't sound like much but it took me ages
The sun is shining here again and I think I will have a bit of time in the garden before it gets too hot so hugs to anybody who would like one
928 & 929 bags sorted
930 & 931 trainers binned
932 plastic bottle
933 LDFPA
934 kitchen bin
Take care everyone

@QueenJess - thanks for the tip, however I loathe using ribbon on cards. I honestly don't give enough presents (no extended family any longer) and things to many people these days - and if I did do that with DMum she'd just return the ribbon after she'd unwrapped the gift 🤣
Anyway just popping back in to say I put all my toiletries away from my holiday 🤣 only taken me 3 days to get to it!
While I was sorting through I found a zip bag of hair ties; retrieved one of the dinky plastic boxes from the charity bag to store them in. The bag will go to the cs instead.
Binned
- 10 x hair ties
- plastic tat
Cs
- fabric bag with zip
- box of bobby pins
Washing from last week/weekend away has all been folded or put on hangers to be put away. Bed made and jug of water put into the cooler unit so the fan element will work better today.
Stay hydrated all!
(Ps I should probably make a signature)12 -
Penny-pinchin I meant to respond too, I agree you might be using too much. I've never used liquid for washing clothes, I rarely use anything other than a 15 minute quick wash and I don't think I've ever had powder on washed stuff. Try halving what you would normally use then you can adjust up or down accordingly if you dont like that amount

@crazybunnylady4, I have just washed all of the buttons that we have had, donated to craft group.
With children I am going to do button art. I have some stencils of a ballerina, lion and Turtle that I am going to outine. They can stick buttons to tbe dress, mane and body of turtle. Mosaic glue from hobby craft seems to stick them well to canvas.
For adults craft group, I am going to get some quotes printed on thin card to best friend. Mum, Dad, sister etc and stick a heart of various buttons around it and then put into a box frame. Lovely gift.
I also use the small ones wwhen card making along with thin ribbons.
Ribbons can be used for weaving, hanging thing, they make beautiful trims and create a lovely bit of colour when looped several times, attached to wire and put into flower arrangements.
Hope this helps.craft stash 2023 =161, 2024 = 119 2025 = £25.96 spent, 128 made and 5 mended,

Been to friendship/lunch club - I sorted bags of clothes while dinner was cooking.
Someone was clearing out a relative's property so brought lots of stuff in today - hopefully some will sell on Saturday.
Been to the hospital for Mr F's xray - wasn't told anything.
While in the xray dept we met someone from our old Church - hadn't seen her since before Covid.
There are cases of Covid in our area.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

You can also use the buttons on cards as the centers of flowers and as the eyes of teddy bears (or cats and dogs). You can use the ribbons to make the flowers. Used to have a Brownie troop.12

Popped in to add, bulldog clip, chipped glass, a glass bowl for CS bag, a little paper declutter, empty containers out, too hard to drop clothes at posh CS - I'll have to check if I've already counted (4 more items),
fingers crossed things will be picked up as lots of no shows. Found a savings account I'd forgotten about so ordered a new duvet cover. Did have ins yesterday, watering can that fits under outside tap, existing one didn't. Also had a JL delivery of duvet covers and bras - all to be sent back. 2 bras should go out as too big - bought and worn a few times but seem to fit in some old ones (hardly worn) so will wait and see what my healthier eating and gym work (Modest amount) will do. Having set aside those things with labels to go , I am now thinking of other clothes to go but baby steps. Know abit faster pace needed to get to my target. Couple of frogs done and looking forward to counting from July.
