Hi everyone
Welcome to all newbies.
I've decluttered a horrible headache that i had for a couple of days.
I had a flying visit over NYE to visit my family - 11 hours in the car for a 20 hour visit - it was lovely to see sisters, nieces and nephews, and all be together on NYE. Called at parents on way home and chatted on the doorstep as they are still poorly with covid. I have now decluttered most of my C-mas presents, just one bag left that is for my friend.
I also decluttered a coathanger that i accidently left at my sisters!
Yesterday a charity collected a sideboard I'd gifted and I also shredded a whole notebook of confidential notes.
I have checked my self asst which is now up to date and accurate so i can press submit and then pay. Will be very glad when I have decluttered that big frog.
Love Deni

Moderately pleased with myself today: did a Tip run with lots of cardboard that DS3 was unable to transport to the dump where he lives, which came back with him before Christmas. I did keep a couple of large bits to deploy at the allotment on Friday; weighed down, it's great for suppressing weeds on beds that are temporarily out of use, and will rot down to feed the soil micro-organisms. Some rubbish from the sewing room and a couple of bags of unspeakable detritus from the garage, also went. (I found those when I was hunting for a an elderly Bernina sewing machine, which is probably, sadly, long gone.) I imagine I'd sorted them out last time I had an onslaught in there, but never got time or was too disorganised to dispose of them. The Christmas decs came down, but I'll need to sort through everything tomorrow afternoon/evening, after paying my weekly visit to my 97 y.o. mother 45 miles away. And I finished bubble-wrapping the conservatory, which keeps it above freezing in mid-winter; I have tender plants out there (and will be starting seeds soon) & the cockatiel officially lives out there, though he's currently in OH's WFH office since the festive invasion began. Now all over! So the rolls of bubblewrap have gone back into the garage & some damaged-so-replaced pieces will be taken down to the Emporium where I have a pitch (near Mum's care home) tomorrow, for packaging. I also found 3 boxes of vintage books cluttering the conservatory up, which I suspect DD1, who runs a book shop but is off travelling in South America just now, intended to take into work, but didn't; I'll run those up to them at the weekend.
It all feels like those first few stones falling just before a massive cliff fall; anyone who's familiar with the fragile sandstone cliffs of West Dorset will know what I mean. A trickle of little stones, a couple of puffs of dust, then suddenly whump! a huge slab of cliff hits the beach. I'm really looking forward to shifting more of the clutter that's been strangling my life...Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)19 -
Can I join the thread please? I need to go back and read from the beginning as I'm sure there are lots of inspiring tips. I'm trying to declutter once and for all as I have a big birthday later on in the year and it has brought about a sense of urgency to get rid of all the 'stuff' I have accumulated and don't need. A slow start to the year but so far I have taken down the Christmas decorations and decluttered everything I don't like (including a couple of boxes of stuff from under the stairs that hasn't seen the light of day for several years). I have also decided to sell some of the stuff that I can't seem to get rid of because its too good or even new. Right, going to read the rest of this thread to try to motivate myself ready for tomorrow.19

Some more decluttering to rack up.
#5 - 19: glass bottles and jars taken out for recycling early this morning. Those weren't the whole batch. I'm doing it in stages to also give myself an excuse to take a walk and get some exercise in.
#20: did 10 minutes decluttering on a living room table that's teeming with papers. It still needs some work but a lot of paper was shredded and recycled.
#21: Decluttered my calendar... Reduced the time that a standing working meeting has in the calendar by 30 min each week. I've got some time back! Woohoo!19 -
Did a few bits, mainly while I've being sitting down.
39 Box of needles (the sewing variety) Been cross stitching for years and always kept the needless.
39 pile of papers shredded.
40 Dried up nail varnish binned.
41 Instruction book for camera. recycled.
42-43 2bags of chocolates emptied into a tin and put in the kitchen to avoid temptation .
Not a lot but every little helps.
take care all.

Between work and going out for a couple of hours tonight very little done today other than seeing two required items on freebay 'want it Wednesday' which were items I was going to put list so that saved me a job. If they turn up to collect both should be gone by Saturday 🤞 I haven't had any issues previously with people collecting although I know some have

Thanks for the welcome @MrsSD_2.
I'd like to report a further 23 assorted plates and bowls have left the house. Also a Nutcracker Xmas decoration that gave me the creeps was given to the charity shop so very pleased to see that go.

Good evening. You've all been busy bees, so many pages to catch up on since I posted yesterday.
Today we took down the tree and I managed to drop and break a bauble. Outside decorations brought in to dry off, just the icicle lights left outside and the conservatory lights. DH is going to get some plastic storage boxes on Friday (payday) as the cardboard ones we've always stored the decorations In have seen better days.
I've had to prise the christmas jumper off the dog today, he loves his jumpers and fights having them taken off but it's seen better days, was full of holes so I've had to put it in the bin this year he can havea new one next year but for now hes backto plain and boring ones..
