Another more in than out day. I decluttered some L4keland vouchers that were going out of date tomorrow. I now have aluminium foil and some clingwrap that should last me at least a year, if not a decade! I try to re-use foil if I can so have bought the extra thick stuff and while I try not to use clingwrap there are some things that I just can’t cover any other way, mainly my large bowls.
A few more pounds were spent on a notebook. I’ve decided to follow one of the hints/tips I read on a post, on one of the threads here and am going to try and keep a spending diary. I need something to a) keep me accountable for what I am spending my money on and b) give me a basis for a real budget next year. My living here will be so different to that in France – here is so much more expensive and there are so many more temptations to spend money here. 😱
I also treated myself to some new hangers – these are non-slip ones and will become the ones for hanging out the washing. I already have some velvety ones but don’t fancy putting wet clothes on those. I got rid of about 3/4 of my hangers to Emmaus when packing as I reasoned buying new here was cheaper than paying the removal cost and storage.
I have taken heed of the decluttering thread though; I only bought the one pack of 6 hangers and put the second one – the one for Justin – back on the shelf. 😁
Still waiting for the seller’s solicitor to get back to my solicitor so I can declutter this wait to buy the house. 🤞🤞
Well done everyone 💐 and welcome aboard all the newbies.👋 While this EDT hurtles along at speed, decluttering is something that takes time. It's not just about throwing everything out, in my opinion, but about understanding ourselves; what we want long term and training ourselves to think about that. Throwing out things you then regret getting rid of only leads to resentment about getting rid of things - you have to do it for the deep down right reasons. Well at least in my case I do.

The bolognaise sauce is now simmering & the water for the pasta is heating up. Timer is on for 24 minutes & a session of cheerleading is starting 🙂
GrannyKate, very pleased to hear that your lurgy is gradually departing 🙂 Sorry to hear that family issues have been to the fore over the last couple of years which have scuppered your plans to have a minimalist home before you eventually downsize 😔 However, because of that your DGCs are being well looked after - they are very lucky to have you 😊 Definitely a situation for a Plan & at least 1 List 😅 It is so useful when someone else in the family is also part of the Decluttering Brigade & your DD currently seems to be leading the way 😊 I do believe she has been a willing & apt pupil & is following in your footsteps 😇 There has been some excellent decluttering & task completion in your home already 👏 Shame about DS2’s car - an expense that could be done without at the start of the year 😔 Thanks for the reminder about buying birthday cards 👏 - I am definitely way behind as I usually buy & write January cards in December 😬 I hope the quiet was just a sign that all the DGCs were asleep 🤞although that is probably highly unlikely 😂
Brie, I can definitely understand the inordinate pleasure at completing a Tip run 🥳 All is right with the world when you don’t have to negotiate a path through bags of toot 😅 Hopefully the workmen will arrive on time tomorrow 🤞 So exciting 😊 If we are voting - my vote would be to sell the 2nd TV 😉
Alarm has gone off so will post & finish making dinner. I know, I know - a bit late 😔

Ten books out and one tote bag in - I didn't buy it, I was lent it to transport some gin, campari and chocolates back from my cousin's on Monday. I'm not counting food and drink (or regular toiletries) in or out as they will inevitably get used up but I am counting the tote bag until it goes back as these have a habit of migrating in and staying.
