@Brie ~ oh blimey!!! I hope you can now have your leisurely breakfast! Im sure it wont be too long until the new kitchen is done (fingers crossed!)
I am about to restart another of those huge frogs, spent 2 hours on it yesterday and im about half way through, I do have a deadline of 6th jan, so must get to it.
In other news ticked off ' buy new microwave' last night. DH spent ages measuring them all on the store and then found the the one we bought was still too big for the shelf (face palms) DH and DS2 found a piece of wood and made a little shelf extender and I sat and had a cuppa!!! But job is done, and tested with a bit of xmas pud!!
ALso woring on more on my list, printing it out and putting it on the fridge has def been a big motivator. I cant forget it! But I am searching through it to find the quickest wins, the bigger jobs are being left for another day

fritzie-65One of them ,Jack, is a teacher in a rather upmarket boarding school and all the kids seem to work on computers or laptop/tablets supplied by the school I did think of that actually.
The other grandson Ben works in an inner London school where the likelihood Mum or Dad would be pawning it .He actually searches CS for books for the kids books shelf (he's a year five teacher )which he buys himself as the local LEA say they can't afford to buy books for the children library shelves them selves.
'Well', he said how are the kids going to enjoy reading he was told "Tell them to go to the free library" Bless him he gets so cross as he feels for these children who no fault of their own or their parents are not given any extra help
Last year he bought the kids all small pots and seeds so they could learn about growing their own food .The two grandsons work at opposite ends of the spectrum Jacks children have more than they could ever need at their school, whereas Bens kids struggle to get anything in their school at all. He will often take boxes of biscuits or fruit into school that he pays for himself as very often the kids are sadly hungry at break time , and their Mums are often too hard up to provide them with anything for break, they get free meals at lunchtime but kids have hollow legs. Ben's a good egg bless him ,but so is Jack and he feels for the children whose parent often seem to just only see them in the holidays but usually a good few stay during half term as they are from overseas and its not very easy for them to get home and back in the time.Different children with different problems .
what I can do with a portable electric typewriter thats brand new and never been used My late husband bought it for me in 2002, and by that time I had got a desk top computer so it was put in a cupboard and forgotten about. I don't want to tip it ?

There may be a charity who sends overseas Jackie I know we have a local one which takes one sewing machines and sends overseas. Or if nothing else a company which hires out props or even a local theatre company which also uses props for period productions

I have decluttered my first thing - a knitted hoody sold on V*nted for £3. I really need to get myself in gear and get listing things as I have about at least 3 suitcases stuffed full of clothes that need to GO.

Isn't that a bit of a sweeping statement? I'm sure there are parents who would want the best for their kids, despite their housing situation or socioeconomic background.
Anyway, I would have thought if a child was needing a typewriter to aid education it would be kept in school.
Happy New Year all. Welcome to all new declutterers.
Had a busy few days over New Year and had a quiet day recovering yesterday. Been for a short walk this morning and made a start with catching up on admin. Next job is to go through all the veg and make a rough meal plan for the next few days. Also need to start laundry as none done over the last couple of weeks.
Plan to take decs down at the weekend and make a plan for the year with OH. Last time we did a plan for the year in January was 2020 and we all know how well that plan went!
I am unashamedly lounging around doing basically nothing today before going back to work tomorrow. The house feels weirdly quiet with kids back at school/nursery and DH back at work. Since I fancy sitting, I did do a bit more photo decluttering and may possibly get off the chair and look at some more clothes decluttering later. Also should do some more digital decluttering, so may be back with another update later. I would love to finish the digital stuff this month, but it may be a bit too much to ask. Will see how it goes.
Afternoon all. Wow the EDT is certainly speeding along at the start of the year.
@weenancyinAmerica your post really resonated with me as I've been keeping a journal off an on for a decade and kind of wondering why I was doing it, but now I know - it's to let the later generations know what it was like living in the here and now. We don't have children of our own and never will do, and don't have nieces or nephews so whatever we have left will be left to our godsons and I know that in those journals I've written about their parents that they might never know otherwise (not incriminating, just what they were like before they were parents). Of course there's really boring stuff in there too but it's motivated me to keep writing when I can.
5 items gone so far (all toiletries) and nothing in yet although there is something coming in the post soon. While DH is out on Saturday I am going to make a start at decluttering and have my sight set on a couple of drawer units. Also have a bathroom storage cupboard that I need to list to sell somewhere - have never used FB marketplace but have heard some horror stories so not sure if I'm that brave!
