I was 6 days early for a chiropractic appointment and the clinic was closed.
At least it got me out the house.
Today's figures:
36-41: 6GB data deleted
42-50: 9 items to recycling
51- 60: items to bin, another good day for finishing stuff.
Off to London tomorrow till Friday so finalising packing - weather doesn't look too bad but taking extra clothes in plastic bags inside the rucksack just in case.

lots of old friends on this thread and new faces who are just friends I haven't made yet :-)
Today's 24 minutes was in the bedroom - had got a little bit messy so no sorting as such but general tidy and clean. So that's clean en suite and clean bedroom. A good start to the new year.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Will try and read where the train has been speeding through on the way to work tomorrow.
Popping in before I forget to report 4 plates and packaging sent on their way, items back to shop (counts as one), and some paper filing and decluttering 16 on decluttering front.
1.5 hours on moving big frog forward with form filling etc, and some emails done (not counting frogs but reporting it helps the motivation).
Looking forward to reading how people are getting on, and also the treats people are trying when they stop in the tlc carriage as it's always well stocked17 -
DH went back to work today but we managed a bit of a clear out over Christmas, which has mostly been listed on our local freebies site. It’s a mix of household stuff and toys, games and puzzles. So far the equivalent of 2.5 bags has been collected. Some people have failed to turn up on multiple occasions which has been quite frustrating!I also managed to sort enough out to send 1 bag to fabric recycling. The children go back to school on Thursday, fingers crossed I’ll get more done then.
Happy New Year everyone.

Welcome aboard Bozwood 👏 Exciting times ahead - decluttering as preparation for selling up & moving to a new area 😊 You have made an excellent start to your decluttering 👏 You might have noticed that quite a few of us struggle with decluttering clothes, books & shoes SO I for one am very impressed that you have started with these 🤩🥳
Welcome back balabooberlies, lovely to see you 👋 You do realise you have piqued my curiosity 😂 A whole house declutter in just a few months 🤔 Good job you have been flexing your Decluttering Muscles over the years 😊 I do hope you will be getting assistance with the ‘heavy’ decluttering 🙏 I have a teeny, tiny twinge of envy at the thought that you might be getting a skip 😉🤣 Good luck 🍀
Great post QueenJess 👏 It does sound like you have been working on DH 😉 Might be time for some shock tactics 😂 Could you go through his stored shoes & find just one pair that is falling to bits & bring them into daily rotation? After all if he sees & feels it happening he might just go through his ‘shoe stash’ & create some space in the wardrobe 🤞🤞🙏
andiacc, Sorry it has taken me so long to welcome you aboard the EDT 😔 Lovely to meet you & well done on taking the first step & joining us on the Electric Decluttering Train 😊 My initial thought is to grab a large rubbish bag & visit each & every room picking up visible rubbish - no sorting & minimal movement of stuff. Once finished, seal the bag & get it out of the house. Your second ‘sweep’ should be with a recycling bag - same again - bag, seal, out 🙂 This will hopefully invigorate you & get you started on your decluttering journey 🙂 Once done reward yourself with a sit down with a cuppa & plan your decluttering strategy - jot down everything that comes to mind & then prioritise - lists can be your friend 😊 As a last gentle reminder - it has probably taken years to get cluttered so it will be a decluttering marathon rather than a decluttering sprint & I will try very hard to encourage & support you - as will the rest of our decluttering family 🙂 We do like to celebrate our successes however small or large they are 🙂 but we are also here to commiserate when things don’t go quite so well. We encourage each other to dust ourselves off & resume our decluttering.
Welcome back CMD79 👋 I am very excited to follow your journey - especially as you are weighing your clutter 😉 I love your list 😊 As to your boss at your paid work minding that you are spending your day on MSE Forumming, I cannot see an issue as long as you are getting your work-work done in your lunch hour 🤣 A great start - your first 4kg 👏 Wow you are certainly motoring along CMD79 👏 Love the idea that the eating pace of your daughter’s friend resulted in such a successful decluttering session 😊 Also enjoying the chat about how you are going to manage 2024 kg of clutter 😉 although it is a shame that you had to bin the biscuits 😔 Well done to your neighbours for assisting you in your decluttering challenge 🥳👏 I am relieved to see that you had a relaxing day on New Year’s Day 😮💨 Maybe we should run a little competition to see who has the oldest cosmetics item 🤔
Mamaofmanybudgets, I have been running the Decluttering Thread for a few years now & I am continually amazed at how much decluttering goes on not only in the first few days but also over the entire year 🤩 I am toying with the idea of a decluttering jar but don’t think I would be as conscientious as you (I tried a similar thing for meals but if I didn’t like the meal I picked out I would return it to the jar & try again 🤣 🙊) Good luck with the clothing declutter 🍀 Fingers crossed that the eye op was a success 🤞 Re stars & medals, I have a whole bucketful of them & I award them for all sorts of reasons including getting a quarter, half, 3 quarters & the whole way to a target; an exceptional session of decluttering; a great idea or even a great cheerleading post 😊 I am now picturing you under a mountain of clothes with your boys running around trying to find even more clothes 🤣
Radish72 👋 Sorry to hear that life was so hard last year 😔 but very pleased to see you back 😊 Well done on getting so much done - new patio, new garage door & a completely renovated bedroom with the added bonus of Tip runs 👏 Good luck with your new tactic of decluttering by category 🍀 & it sounds like there will be a big decluttering in the kitchen 😉
Concentration is waning so I will finish off here 😉
Hope everyone has a good night 💤

Today was a busy day. Managed to do over an hour on my Parish Register project, work on decluttering the top of one kitchen cabinet. Filled a general trash can and a recycling trash can today so well over 100 items out. Missionaries are coming Saturday to help me clean up the backyard.
Took everyone shopping today at Aldi's and another supermarket. I mostly bought food at Aldi's and roommates bought a few things at each of them. Worked tonight at the FamilySearch Center.
I hope no one feels they have to get rid of sentimental items because of the need to declutter or reach a certain number. It is important to have things to leave to your descendants about what life was like in these times. And I know from my experience that I need to hold onto several years of calendars because things come up that I need to look up. I did get the dates for our flu shots, Covid shots, etc. from the old calendar so we will know when we need to go back in. But I have had to refer back to my previous calendars several times during the year. Items your children made shouldn't be thrown away just because. Maybe you can make collages of them. Pick out the best drawings and handprints and save them for later years. I still have the strange looking dog my brother made 55 years ago, because looking at makes me feel better. Diaries are an important part of many museum collections. If you throw away all of the family history, then there will not be any way to show future generations what really happened. They will have to rely on what shows up in history books and what people tell them happened in the past which isn't always very honest and can be twisted to show whatever anyone wants it to.
I hope everyone is staying safe during the storms coming your way. Take care.19 -
Morning All, I’m very impressed with everyone’s decluttering activities so far. DSis had a go on NYD and that’s due to leave the building at the weekend. I should be taking an amble out at lunch to declutter a Ziffit box (wind stopped play yesterday). All these tales of furry uninvited guests makes me glad that our moggies were window trained rather than used a cat flap. They used to leave their ‘presents for the larder’ on the back doorstep after their morning perambulation and hop onto the window sill to come back indoors.✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

Just decluttered two bags of shredded paper stuff into the recycling bags, why did I have insurance valuations from 1979 still on file
from the house I haven't lived in since 1995. Why on earth did I keep this junk for so long .The recycling chaps are imminently due so the bags go out at 7 am.
Just moved some clothes that are clean and folded from the basket in the kitchen to my chest of drawers in my bedroom and decided there is stuff in there I definitely don't need any more as
A. it doesn't fit me ,too big as I lost a lot of weight last year
B. I've not worn or thought about wearing it for months
Next on the decluttering list will definitely have to be clothes, I have far more than I'll ever wear, I shall get my eldest DD round as she is really good and strict about stuff in the clothing line . I have a large and a medium sized chest of drawers in my bedroom plus a built in wardrobe and I can't get anymore stuff inside any more hence the stuff being in a basket in my kitchen I have a valuer coming to value my house tomorrow and I thought I've got to move that pile of flooded clothes out of the way:) as it is I've only managed to find room for half of the pile ! How can one little old lady accumulate so much stuffdoes it multiply in secret over night do the elves bring it. One thing about decluttering you do find stuff you've either forgotten about or can't even remember having.Still haven't found my Kindle yet though
I dare say it will turn up at some point as I found the power lead and charger for it .
what I can do with a portable electric typewriter thats brand new and never been used My late husband bought it for me in 2002, and by that time I had got a desk top computer so it was put in a cupboard and forgotten about. I don't want to tip it ?

@ London_1 ask your Grandson the teacher if he can pass it on for you -typewriters are used for children with Dyspraxia and it is often teachers that pick up on this first.Success is the sum of small efforts repeated day in and day out.Thats what I keep telling myself :-)19
