Oh wow! I joined this challenge the other day with the thoughts of getting 14 rooms decluttered this year…. From reading just the posts over the last few days I realise that I’m looking at this incorrectly. You’ve all motivated me to re-evaluate… so new target is 1956 items (given that we’re 2.5 months into the year), this is a total finger in the air number, and I have already done quite a bit of decluttering in the last 6 months 😀
thank you for your inspiration ⭐️15 -
After taking everything out of one of DHs wardrobes I have started the task of sorting through everything bit by bit and replacing things in a more orderly fashion.
Finally have said goodbye to our engagement, wedding, silver anniversary and ruby anniversary cards. Also sorted photos and got rid of the blurry ones and the ones I couldnt recognise people in along with some broken photo frames. I have filled another bin bag to the top!
Havnt quite managed to let go of the cards comgratulating us on the birth of our babies yet. I dont know why I am finding them hard. 🤷♀️. Anyway I have popped them back for another day.
I have 3 empty photo albums so have sorted family weddings, grandchildren and friends into 3 different sections and I am hoping to organise these first.

First of all thanks to @daisy_1571, @Wednesday 2000 & Animed & Pets at Home are both considerably cheaper that others that I'd seen. And thanks @_taffI will definitely ask those questions when I take him back for a check up next week.
I spent a few days in the TLC carriage and feel a lot brighter now thankfully 🙏. I have been encouraging myself to get back to doing my 10k steps a day *(4 day streak) and I'm eating more healthily, drinking lots of water etc. Small steps but foundational.
Went to opticians on Friday, They confirmed that I've got PCO following my cataract surgery last year so needed to be referred for laser treatment. I'm hoping there won't be too long to wait as the vision in my right eye is almost as bad as when I had a cataract.
Tasks:
Optician Visit
CS bags dropped off

86. Wooden cat
87 Trainer socks that won't stay on

Thanks for all your crossed fingers. It must have helped because my parents didn't bring too much stuff with them and I don't feel out of control! Not done much physical decluttering this weekend (still very slowly thinking through the under stairs cupboard and think I need to replace my gym bag with something smaller and less falling apart - probably also need to actually empty it and see what is in there!). I did do a bit of digital decluttering though.Digital:New total = 5,832

MrsSD don’t tempt me!!!!! One meeting was postponed from last week to this week but if I attend it I’ll have someone with me.
i think we all need to remember or at least take into account that mental decluttering can be as hard as physical decluttering…I had a very serious conversation with my dr after the PIP assessor referred something to him - not going into detail on here it’s too personal - and had to cut short a parental visit yesterday as I was too exhausted and have more or less slept the whole weekend. Hubby and the dogs have kept a close eye on me and I need to make sure I don’t fall into a whole Alice in Wonderland nightmare. I am a strong person but even we get tired!Anyway babbling nonsense now.
have a good week all x⭐️⭐️⭐️🥇🥇🥇 2024 decluttering

Gers, I think it takes time , and important to give ourselves time with parents belongings etc and we know when the right time is for passing things on. I'm returning some things I took to offer to my DB from my dad's an if he doesn't want will go to CS I think.
Going to midlands to see DD2 and go with her to hospital appt, and have other things lined up for my almost week off work. As I know not going to work have been doing some housework and sorting intermixed with TV watching ! More of the later, but have set of shelves, and 2 empty chest of drawers which will be moved elsewhere witbhin the house on Tuesday and can sort things before they go back in, but so far
For CS, 2 lots of fabric, sport trews DD2 never wore, another item of clothes, can't remember what? 2 lots for textile back. Can't recall if photo frame was reported yesterday (think so) , 4 tupperware type stuff, 4 credit card/memberships cards, my childhood bedroom curtains (1970s) sold and packaged up, other packaging out, some sentimental cards put in enveloped labelled for another day (or year to sort), a few weeds, gift bag, 2 envelopes of stamps to CS, small storage box recycled,
keeping some furniture I'll get rid of when I downsize but have space now so not stressing about that,
Chased people about further treatment for DD2, as she's authorised me for her claim for hit and run a couple of years ago, new person dealing with her claim so need new authorisation. When this and other things sorted I will have many files to get rid of!
hoping more will go on the freegle/freecycle
Mrs SD, thank you for noticing that I've stopped wombling, and also v little being picked up from CS for me. I think I am noticing abit more space.
Hoping when DD2 is back we can go through files etc, and I can get rid of my stock and she'll go through her school stuff, and stockpiles

I think I must have pricked my finger and fallen asleep in the TLC carriage! 🤣 I was so many pages behind, (273 posts), that I’ve only managed a quick skim.
Firstly, many thanks @Mrs_Salad_Dodger for my star.
Secondly, congratulations @London_1 on selling and finding your new home so quickly. And good luck to everyone who's selling and buying houses.
I really don’t know where the last month has gone and I don’t feel that I’ve gone forward. In reality I have, but there is so much to do and having no storage, I have nowhere to put anything I unpack.
I have managed to tame my anxiety and contact a few builders and repair people so am now waiting for them to “get back to me” with dates they can come and give quotes. It will be nice to have the leaking loo fixed, the broken shower replaced and the 2 leaking radiators sorted – one isn’t actually attached to the pipework - which is why the heating kept cutting out due to not enough water in the circuit. And as for the dust and dirt – one of the joys of an unoccupied house.
But, I’ve ordered the paint for the kitchen units, (as I can’t afford to have them replaced) and figured out that I can soon make a start on them which will help with storage. The wall and probably the ceiling, have to wait until I can get the complete re-wire done. But of course that can’t be done until I clear the boxes. That’s where my brain starts looping. 🤣
I’ve started on going through the stuff left in the outbuildings which are a treasure trove of vintage items and an incredible amount of bakeware. I’m also trying to clear bits of the garden and get some veg in.
Money is still the majority of my decluttering but boxes of stuff to go are beginning to be filled. I can only put out 3 black bags a fortnight and cat litter is prioritised with that. My local tip doesn’t accept black bags but there is one 8 😱 miles away that I think does. Thank goodness I have a car.
I’m still so happy to be back. My DD came down for Mother’s Day and DS1 called in on his way back from work and it really made my day.
I will now try to keep up with the thread – no excuses as I now have Internet.

Went to combined Corps service this afternoon. Captain C asked if I had kept the 2 suitcases from yesterday - I had planned to send them to the charity shop - they are in my hall at the moment. C says that people sometimes ask SA for a suitcase. I have nowhere to store a suitcase at SA - I don't mind keeping one in my porch but the other is going. Came home from SA this afternoon with 2 bags of toys for the charity shop - now you see how Mr F is constantly taking stuff to CS.
In between services today - I shortened a pair of trousers for a friend. When looking for a cotton to match the trousers - I searched through my stash - still couldn't find the exact shade but realised that I must have 400 - 500 reels of thread. Mr F said that I have SABLE - I must have a declutter of threads and buttons.
Another friend wants to buy new net curtains - the person who used to shorten them for her is no longer doing it so she has asked me.
Great win for my team today.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45
