Hyperjar Cashback offer in MSE email Dec 2023

Hi,

I've signed up to Hyperjar using the link in Martin's email:

The articles says: "Up to 2.5% cashback for the first three months (5,000 available)."

I have followed the terms of the offer and ordered the free physical card. How do I tell if I am one of the lucky 5000?  Don't want to switch spending to this card unless I know I'm getting cashback. Anyone else done this and seen some confirmation somewhere?

Thanks

I haven't seen any confirmation in the app or elsewhere. Made a transaction for £2 last night and no cashback is visible.

Went on their live chat and asked if I'm earning cashback. They said it was 0.5%. I asked again and they said it would be 1.5% or 2.5% for transactions over £750 (incorrect, probably just an English-speaking difficulty).

They said if I signed up through their MSE link/button I would have received an email confirming I was eligible. When I said I had not received an email, they said it might take several days to arrive.

They said there would be no confirmation of which transactions would or wouldn't receive cashback until after 45 days. Not even an indication if they are eligible. This is worrying if you're intending to make a large purchase and would choose between using this card or another cashback card (e.g. Chase at 1%).
  • This offer does seem to be "Too good to be true".

I'm in the same situation. I completed the registration process (via the MSE link) this morning, and ordered a physical card, but have no idea whether I am eligible for the 1.5/2% cashback. I guess I'll have to wait until 45 days after the end of the month of my first purchase to find out. By which time half of the offer period will over!

I'm not really understanding the point of the jars either. Do I really need to transfer money out of the wallet and into a jar in order to spend from that jar? Seems like alot of faffing around compared to just leaving everything in the wallet and spending from there. Presumably the jars are intended to enforce budgeting behaviors?
  • I also haven't yet seen any confirmation of the MSE promotion. I also haven't seen any confirmation on the £10 cashback for buying a voucher and making a purchase on Amazon. I'm yet to make any purchases (still waiting on verification) but it would be much more reassuring if they confirmed that the promotional link has worked. A little disappointed so far (and their chat bot isn't the greatest either).

I also bought an Amazon voucher and did get immediate confirmation of the cashback. I believe that it will be applied automatically when I use the Hyperjar card to purchase something else from Amazon

Just to clarify, was that confirmation of the MSE £10 promotional cashback or just the regular cashback? Since it seams they offer cashback on normal purchases of their vouchers as well as this promotional £10 cashback on top, just to add to the confusion.

No, just the regular cashback for buying the Amazon voucher (which I don't think was specific to MSE subscribers)
  • I've now got an email from them mentioning the MSE offer, so looks like it has tracked.

It says: "Welcome to Hyperjar -name here-

We’re delighted that you’ve signed up for the exclusive Money Saving Expert Christmas offer.
You’ll be getting a series of emails about the app and how to use it, so this one is exclusively for MoneySavers to remind you of all the goodies included in your offer and how to get them."

Then just repeats an overview of the Ts&Cs.

I signed up late Tuesday so in my case it took 3 days to confirm, so might be worth just waiting a bit before using it. I just need to wait for my full account to be verified now. :)
  • Well, I've signed up but am a bit wary. If I spend £1,500 with Chase I get £15. With this potentially its £37.50. However if you find out after 45 days you weren't one of the 5,000 you lose £15. Decisions, decisions....
  • I signed up earlier today and requested a physical card after completing ID checks and such. I hope I qualify, but I guess I won't really know in time for this month. I spent a small amount to top up my octopus account with the digital card just to activate and then bougth a £20 Sainbury gift card for the first part of the £10 cashback offer. For the second part that says "Spend at Amazon using your HyperJar card on or before 07/01/2024." I wonder whether I could simply top up my amazon account?
