You can count me in for complaining. Placed 2 orders in the early hours of Christmas day and have had the delivery dates put back to 22nd January from the 10th. So not at all happy as the longer they take to deliver the more chance of getting items out of stock. I even tried to cancel the items and it won't let me do that - says items cannot be cancelled at this stage.
  • I have just emailed them to complain and told them to cancel my order, I have had items canceled taking me below the free delivery range and they refused to refund this. And my delivery date has been pushed back further and further now to the 11th-15th of Jan. Plus the items they canceled are still showing as in stock on their website :mad:

 For all those who have been told that items in the sale are not part of the free delivery promotion I just noticed a little box with the following message (while viewing an item of clothing on sale):

"Free standard delivery when you spend £30 or more. Enter code FREEDELV at checkout. Here's how (restrictions apply) I then clicked on the 'here's how' link to find out the restrictions and this is what they say:

"To receive free delivery:Buy required threshold of products. When you are finished shopping, click the "Proceed to checkout" button.
    1. Send these items to a single address.
    2. Select Standard Delivery.
    3. If a claim code is required, after selecting a payment method, enter the claim code in the area "Apply promotions", and click "Apply."
    4. Enjoy free delivery on items sent to that address.
    Offer Details:
    • Applies to eligible items purchased.
    • Items added to the Shopping Basket when free delivery is in effect, but not purchased until after the promotion ends, will not receive free delivery.
    • Delivery and gift wrap charges are not included in calculating purchase amount if offer has a threshold.
    • Applies to Standard Delivery only.
    • Applies only to orders sent to a single address.
    • Offer is not for resale and is not redeemable for cash.
    • If you cancel or return items purchased using this offer, and your order drops below the threshold, then you will incur a delivery charge.
    • Offers are available for a limited time and may end without notice. "
There is NO reference to items in the sale not being eligible OR that if THEY cancel items from your order then you have to pay delivery. I'm wondering if all the people who have lost money in this way should complain to Trading Standards as well as 'Watchdog' programme... what do you think?:confused::confused:

I've just complained to Watchdog! If we all do it - they should investigate I reckon. If people leave messages here once they've done it - I think its an excellent idea - companies shouldn't be allowed to treat their customers in this way, especially those who's CEO gets a Knighthood!!!!

I placed an order for two large items on the 26th Dec.i ordered a few items to get the total over the £30 . Applied the FREEDEL code which was accepted... 2 days later, an email stated 2 items were out of stock...now I was being charged for delivery..tried to cancel the whole order, but being told the item has entered the 'dispatch stage', which according to the order delivery date is 2 weeks long!!!!Just sent them an email asking them to explain themselves again.
    Please answer me these questions:

    1. Why is the dispatch stage over 2 weeks long?

    2. Why are you not able to cancel the order when it is the 'dispatch stage'?

    3. Why do you apply delivery costs when YOU cancelled the two items, not me, the customer?

4.Why do you admit the 'inconvenience' to me , but do nothing about it?

    5. Why can YOU not contact YOUR carrier and tell them to cancel the delivery to MY address?

6.Why is the website so sloooww at updating the stock situation

This happenned last year!! Total incompetence!!
  • Well they have removed my delivery charge when I asked them to cancel my order! Here is what I got back..

Thanks for your email about order #### for removing the delivery charge.

I have looked into your account and have removed the delivery charge of £3.50 as your original order was over £30. I am sorry that you were told this is not possible.

If you have any queries please email or call customer services on 0845 609 0200.

    Kind Regards

I've put a complaint into Watchdog also, sick of M&S doing this its ridiculous.... I had an order in before 11pm on the 24th (Sale items appeared around this time) and they've emailed me saying that some of the items have sold out.... Rubbish!
No person is your friend who demands your silence, or denies your right to grow. :kisses2:
  • I took a screen shot of the free P&P offer on the sale pages and sent it to them yesterday. I haven't heard any thing yet i guess with so many of us complaining they are putting there foot down to re-coup some lost money but they should be consistant if they refund one they should for all. Very poor service won't be shopping with them again. Even though they have charged me P&P they had a cheek to say to me that my items may come back in stock over the few days prob as people cancelling orders and i can re-order (err yeh right and have to pay p&p again and go through whole hassle again i don't think so are they thick or what)
:)Mummy to 2 wonderful boys :)
Want to be fit for 30 not fat at 30
    but i want never gets!!!
  • I too was charged too much postage as they split the order into two deliveries therefore making each separate delivery under the £30 threshold, so they charged me delivery although I was charged £2.50 rather than the full amount...? I just emailed them and the got back to me straight away and said the money would be refunded. Hopefully everyone else will get a helpful CS person who will refund them without arguments!
