I'm soooo mad    at M&S and myself too! Every order I've ever done online has ended up having things cancelled one or two days after receiving confirmation of my order. Every time it happens I say I'll never order online from them again and then I can't resist! I just ordered 11 items and now 4 have been cancelled (3 days later)!

What I can't understand is WHY the **** can't they set up their website like most other big suppliers and only sell what they have stock to honour the order? It is not rocket science to design a website that does proper stock control so that as soon as a customer places something in their basket it goes out of the 'stockroom' for a set period (giving the original customer a set time limit to either complete the order and pay or put it back). !!!!!! Ryanair manage to sell airline seats on that basis and we've used them loads of times and never had our seats cancelled!

I think M&S have really gone downhill in the last few years and their feeble excuses don't wash with me at all.... I wouldn't trust them an inch!

Oh *****y brilliant ... just got another email saying... surprise sur *****prise... 'one or more items are out of stock'!!! That means 5 itmes out of 11 now cancelled (all ordered Christmas Day)! How is it that they didn't know yesterday (when they cancelled 4 other items) that this one (on the same order) wasn't in stock either?????     They really are absolutely useless!

  • lets be fair marks and spencer have had to cope with huge demand from the internet sales. Thousands of people were online perhaps even a millon users trying to get bargains Marks and Spencers have very good customer care in all the 35 years we have been shopping with them as a family. Demand is high its unfortunate people have had things being out of stock give them a break its hard for retailers this time of year with the increased numbers.
Shoppers know they may say the item is in stock but it takes time to update things .
  • Just been to our local shop and bought a lot of doubles to the items I've ordered, on the grounds I can return the orders if I get them
See the stars they’re shining bright
    Everything’s alright tonight

Does anyone know when the next round of reductions is due?

Next Wed or Thurs and they will be dramatic ones, they need to clear the sale quickly as loads of spring stock to come in. Probably managers reductions in a lot of the stores.

I've had 2 items cancelled from my Christmas morning order. 1 today and 1 yesterday.

Previously M & S have ben good but they were awful in the summer and I thought twice about ordering from them this time round.

I'm not sure what if anything I'll get in the end so will just wait and see!

No, lets not. They should have accurate stock control systems, especially when they have TV advertisments and they know that Christmas Day sale is going to be huge - because their PR department had been plugging it.
If you are going to sell online you should have at least some idea of what you are selling and how many of them you have.
If you don't know what you've got you should stop selling online until your systems are sorted out. In the meantime as I said earlier - buying online from M&S is like the Lottery.

I agree with the previous post.
I've had another item just taken off my order without being informed and the delivery charge added to my bill despite speaking to someone yesterday about the same problem.
I've just called again to complain and the nice man took off the delivery charge (again), apologised and has added a £10 credit to my account as means of compensation. I wasn't expecting that.
At this rate the sale may cost M&S a lot of money in compensation pay-outs!
Third time lucky on WW I hope :j

  • Biglugs then dont buy with them , when you are dealing with the numbers such as they have its hard to get an accurate figure with the sheer volume of orders a few people on this thread have said they have had their items go out of stock whilst they were in their basket clearly they have updated systems.

Has anyone who ordered on Boxing Day had their order dispatched yet please?
My £200 order is coming in one delivery so I don't hold out much hope of getting any of it.

    Hello?

People are having items cancelled after they have ordered them, not whilst in their basket. Try reading the posts properly before commenting.

As for me, i tried to place an order, cancelled it though as knew i had zero chance of actually receiving it. Ive had much better luck with Next, placed an order last night with no problems, if Next can do it, why cant m&s?

I did get a £10 voucher for last years disaster sale, but not going to waste any more time placing an order with them again from reading the posts here, they obviously prefer to keep on compensating people(and paying for those pointless ads), that costs more than having a decent website.
