Yes the conversation with the boyfriend's Mum was really encouraging. It would be nice if we could become friends although I don't know how DD would feel about that... She might feel I was treading on her toes.
I've only moved three items into a box today. Not exactly done a lot of packing. I have done a lot of art (just on paper to save space). I was going to make myself pack this evening but found out my Dad has broken his shoulder - so rather distracted. If anything I need the art even more now as part of de-stressing. He lives too far away to just pop around - and has refused offers from other family members to travel up. None of us live close by.
My cleaner is coming for 1.5-2 hours tomorrow - and my plan is to take time off then and pack with her. The bulk of the kitchen is now packed other than what I'm still using. With the BF moving the large crate from the 4th bedroom to the garage for me earlier - that room is largely empty of what's coming with me. Before I go to bed I'll move some empty cubes and baskets out of there and any remaining stuff from the wardrobe plus a mirror, mini table and a lamp and then I can shut the door on that room and count it as done.
If I have any energy after that - I have at least 3 boxes that need shifting out of DS's room. There's then a few random things in there left to pack - but the furniture in that room is all staying so that makes that part simpler. I still need to move a lamp. DS may sleep here a week tomorrow - so I won't take his curtains down yet. I'm trying to empty whole rooms where I can so its easier to see what's left to do.
Now the buyers have been, I should be able to get on with packing away ornaments and some pictures I left up because they were coming. Weirdly packing up what I did in the kitchen yesterday made me feel a lot more ready - which is fine - as long as it doesn't lull me into a false sense of security. I have 8 days left to pack after today so it should be fine but not if I have days like today where I don't really get anything done. TBF though my brain was pretty shut down on Friday - and I need to give myself a way of rebooting - and for me that's art... I just spent longer on it today than planned. I hate listening to the wind too which doesn't help and didn't get to sleep yesterday until gone 4am and was up for 9.30am.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I think it's a good idea to tick off rooms as done, then at least it reduces the number of areas you need to look at."If you can dream it, you can do it". Walt Disney3

You are really making progress on your preparations for moving.
well done on being firm with relatives about money. As you know I have had some unreasonable expectations from some family members and it's tough to stay no and it's an awkward conversation. However, YOUR money is all allocated towards YOUR future and that is absolutely ok.4 -
You are doing well and making progress.
How nice you met the wider family of BF and have potential new friends out of it.
If you take money out of your ISA, lock it into a 1 year account where the interest is paid on maturity, that will push and tax into 2025 and allow time to juggle numbers and negate it.
Very entitled asking for loans when on the verge of moving.
Have you asked the solicitors if everyone ready to exchange, don't ask the EAs as they'll always say yes.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.5 -

I agree re "entitled" comments - and that I need to maintain my boundaries.
I emailed the solicitor and tried ringing 5 x but no-one was ever available so very frustrated. Not yet exchanged. Need to exchange tomorrow really as the solicitor says she has to order the completion funds 5 days in advance - not sure if that is working days but assumed so. My EA says the hold up is the buyer's deposit - that was the end of last week. RM also want 5 working days notice for redirection so not happy!!
My cleaner came and did just over 2 hours which was a big help - and I took an agreed break from work (using annual leave flexibly) and did some packing then too. It was easier with her around. She got everything out that was under the beds and hoovered. She packed most of the upstairs pictures(!!!), mirrors and random stuff on a shelf in my wardrobe. I reinforced a box the 1m tall bubble wrap had arrived in and am using that for some of my bigger canvases & bought pictures. I bet you can't imagine what I spent my time wrapping!! Plus gave advice and oversaw. It was nice to have a catch up with her too - a lot has happened in just a few days in RL.
I nipped to the shop at lunchtime as I couldn't eat the MnS pasta sauce - the smell turned my stomach. Not sure why. I bought some milk and basics and had bread and banana for lunch. When the cleaner left - I went back to work and was pretty productive which is lucky as all being well I'm hoping to go to site tomorrow and meet with my boss. I need to discuss how I'm getting on with something she's asked me to complete before I go on leave. Slowly is the honest answer. However, my meds may come tomorrow in which case I could be limited as to when I could go to site...

I hope you manage to exchange tomorrow. My daughters solicitor ordered the funds before exchange when she moved last year as everything was so close to the wire. She exchanged on the Monday and completed on the Wednesday as the completion date was agreed between all parties weeks prior to exchange but all sorts of niggly issues delayed it. I hope yours is straightforward.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. I really want certainty. It's so hard to stay motivated and pack when I don't know for sure it will happen on time. Plus I need to confirm my movers, post redirection, utilities etc and DS needs to book time off work. If it's next Tuesday that's fine - if it's later there's an appointment he'd need to move. I'm also irritated with my buyers as they were the ones wanting an early date yet they are the ones currently dragging their feet. They measured up Sunday and seemed happy enough so I think it is just a lack of understanding of the process on their part but still irritating.
My move related spending on packing supplies is ramping up too... It's also hard to sleep with all the uncertainty...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

It's always working days.
Chase the EA.
Try the sol again but leave a message asking they call back to confirm if things are on to exchange.

Enjoy catching up with your boss and I hope the conversation sparks some inspiration.I think you are doing amazingly well. It’s a slog packing up a house and you have the finish line in sight, just. Just keep pecking away at it. Every item packed is one less to do, however small. I agree with shutting down one room at a time, then you know where you are.KKAs at 15.07.25:
