  • They say 5 days for the post redirection but ours was only about 3 - I think they say 5 to give themselves a bit of time.

Keep breathing and counting to ten - you’ll get there!

  • Sending you sympathy and calming wishes. Hang on in there - you're so nearly through the stress! You also sound really organised with all the packing and sorting. The fun/exciting times in the new house are almost here!

I really empathise - you just want certainty at this point. We had a last-minute faff about dates just before we exchanged, when our sellers suddenly suggested a new completion date later in the week because they 'might not' be ready, when our buyers were already stressing and wanting an earlier date - and we really couldn't budge because our removal firm couldn't do any day other than our originally agreed one! BUT it all came together - I was also panicking about the buyers' funds arriving in time because they seemed to be requested very last-minute as far as I could tell (stress levels not helped by us only exchanging the day before completion, which seemed to be the done thing back in 2021 because of COVID!) - but it was fine. So, even if it doesn't seem fine - the chances are, it probably is :)

  • No wonder they say moving house is one of the most stressful things to cope with.  Well done on the packing and hopefully all will come together in time for next Tuesday.

    Thanks Lucielle, @catclaires , @Bargainhunter30 @enthusiasticsaver and TG

Apparently my solicitor has ordered the funds so that's something. She's hoping to do her final bit of paperwork required for exchange this afternoon - and then it's down to where my buyers are up to!! She says everyone is still working to the 30th.

We finished sorting through what was left in the garage and the shed. I've put together another crate or more of stuff for the handyman. My black bin is now pretty much full - will definitely be looking to use the neighbour's bin to shove more into the night before the collection. I might have to nip to the tip for some things that won't fit in the bin. I also have a charity bag to drop off somewhere. What can be packed in the utility now is. My cleaner also changed my bedding on my bed.

Outside I still need to empty a storage box - even if I give most of its contents to the handyman - including a tent for one... Ideally I need to remove the fireworks from where I plunged them in water a month or move ago and put them in the bin. I'm tempted to use a surplus external paper bin to transport my garden tools - spade, rake, hoe etc.

Most of my pictures are now packed - but that still leaves at least 7 that I can remember off the top of my head... The mirrors are all bubble wrapped. I'm almost out of boxes and tape - only about 4-6 left I think. I have plenty left on my giant bubble tape roll though that came this week. I'd used 2-3 of the half size bubble wraps before that (50cm tall instead of 100cm). I have 6 unused canvases to box/wrap. The amount left to do is improving. I need to work through my more detailed list. My new boxes are due tomorrow.

Until then handyman has been - which should be Friday - I have limited space to move packed boxes into - so far too many are now in my lounge and kitchen which isn't making for a positive environment. Once he's been I can move more to the garage and make my living room a less overwhelming place to be. When I've rested a bit - I'll look if I can find a way to do that any earlier - the problem is he needs to take 3 pieces of furniture from the garage - 2 are at the back of the garage (assembled) and 1 is dismantled leaning on something else...
