You don't neede to get them to reduce DD you do it online via your account.

They may say you need to pay (in my case £190, But i set it to £150) & it changes no issues. No contact or anything about it.

I’m afraid that information is incorrect.

🐙 emailed me to say my direct debit would be raised and I went to the app to reduce it and it wouldn’t let me do it on repeated attempts. Then the next day I tried again and it allowed me to lower it- but when I checked back it stated the higher amount.

So I had to get in touch with CS again and expect to have to do so every single durn month this winter unless i do what @QrizB says and just pay what I use each month.

I have always increased/decreased my D/D online with no problems at all, also the same if I ask for a refund. I maybe just lucky.

Just pay by variable DD and you can increase or decrease your monthly amounts into a savings account as you wish. If you keep a spreadsheet or even take a look on your IHD (assuming the tariff rates are correct), you will know what your bill will be before it even arrives. Worst case scenario, in the event of a hefty winter bill, you will have at least 2 weeks to budget accordingly before the money is taken,

I've got my results in for 13th - 10.54kWh, 37p.

The 6th September is still showing as calculating but shows as 40p on my bill.

I have asked them to reduce to £1 either via app or email - cant remember now, but always paid by credit card in full when the bill arrived, now the app says "you pay the full balance after each bill" - havent canceled my direct debit, but also they havent taken one in long time.

I do think you need to make a good credit history with them and then they'll be willing to let you do what you wish.

Talking about savings sessions, 4-5 weekends left, you can book max 2h per weekend and I seem to be getting like 3 sessions a week these days - I may need to think of a way of burning through my stash.. I wish they opened more slots on days when electricity if "free" like a random Tuesday 1pm etc but well..

thanks for the advice - I think the issue is that my direct debit needs to be low - less than £80 a month for dual fuel- or else we accrue a large credit balance. Octopus want us to pay £150 DD - but the last 4 years shows that results in large credit balance every year.

Anyway - back to savings sessions - got happy hour booked for tomorrow 2-3pm. It would have been two if they acknowledged our export from 15/9. We haven’t been blessed with lots of savings sessions in our area sadly.

I've got two booked for tomorrow (it's forecast to be dull here, and Mrs QrizB's car will be due a charge) and four still in the bank. I'm expecting a cloudy October but if I can't use them all, I can't.

Same here.

If come the end of next month I'm struggling to beneficially use the free hours, I'll just export the battery beforehand and refill it for free. At least next month we will probably need the heating on, so can ramp the ASHP up to 50C and enjoy a bit of heat.

Unfortunately no EV here to charge yet.
