I guess this confirms what we sort of knew anecdotally - that the scheme fizzled out with many customers opting in because they had nothing to lose by doing so, but then not actually doing anything to make savings. The rewards simply weren't enough to persuade many people to actively take part.

I wonder what will happen later this year? Will the scheme run again, and if so will it be marketed differently to encourage more active participation, and/or will the rates be higher? Or will we see a completely different scheme or none at all?

    Who's predicting what?

It was certainly worth it for battery owners. I suspect the greatest effect in countering supply shortages will eventually come from distributed storage, as more homes and businesses adopt batteries to regulate their electricity costs.

Just because some would only made a small saving, is hardly a reason not to do it. Hardest part was often finding when they were..

In reality they need to offer a separate scheme for the battery owners uploading their stored power & one for people simply saving on their home usage.
Which to many of us is not easy to do, given a lot are already down to minimal usage.

Over the 15 sessions I saved 1.34kWh, with 2 sessions saving nothing. Only way I could have saved anything on these would have been to turn power off.. Which is never going to happen.

I did turn the power off for the last few sessions as it was the only way I could lose the final 14 watts.

"Check you out, Xxxxx: you're in the top 5% of Saving Sessions customers!"

    What?? HOW the heck???

"Over 14 Sessions, you saved 6.2kWh of power when fossil fuels were burning hardest.

That put you in the top 5% of all customers."

Mainly just turned the heat pump off (in reality, lowered heating temp to stop it running) and this despite using more in some savings sessions due to cooking / more people being at home than usual / in one case someone having a shower.  And earned 12240 Octopoints/£15.30 for it.  Worth the minimal effort for sure!

We received the email today - top 9%!  Woohoo.  Felt pleased by that given we missed a number of sessions and don't have photovoltaics/batteries but realistically it usually meant we pushed cooking supper later and we have an electric Rangemaster.

Here's how you did: Over 14 Sessions, you saved 29.29kWh of power when fossil fuels were burning hardest. And earned 58160 Octopoints or around £72.70 – the equivalent of 34.3 days' free electricity for an average UK home.
