The reason for the short notice of course being that they are trying to test people's reactions to different notice periods, rather than live events which will be more influenced by weather.
I don't have a mobile phone, or use WhatsApp, Twitter, or most other social media. This thread is currently my primary source of information (so thank for all those that post the events).

In the meantime, I've found the Octopus integration for Home Assistant has a couple of Saving Session entities - This latest session (if it goes ahead) will allow me to see if these entities work.

    Works for me.
Thanks for that. Now added to my install, and will wait to see if it works.

It's been said dozens of time before: please consider this is most likely by design. ie. they are testing how quickly people react to a very short notice announcement.

So, perhaps they are looking to identify how many people know how to work their smartphone, as opposed to the technophobes.
Which is great if t heir system can cope. It almost crashed the website on the last one, as the pages were not loading to allow you to opt in. Even to the point they gave error messages to try later due to heavy usage.

Looking less likely there will be anything today, but will keep an eye out.

    Surprising email from Octopus today.
I'd assumed, especially after reading comments on MSE, that most of those bothering with the saving sessions were big users.
    Now I'm told
Over 10 Sessions, you saved 2.58kWh of power when fossil fuels were burning hardest.

That put you in the top 21% of all customers.

You beat me, by a whisker; 2.31kWh and top 24%. However, it took me 15 sessions as I'm on Agile and barely use anything during the peak hours in normal circumstances.

Saving over 11 sessions amounted to 2.27kwh which got me in the top 25% 😄

Ooh I saved 3.65kWh and was in the top 13%. The email also talks about free electricity sessions. We haven't had any and I don't know why they keep telling us this.

I was late to the party and only participated in 7 sessions. Saved a massive 1.75kWh which put me in the top 33%.

I've not had an email yet. Guess they're being sent out in batches.
