Cost wise i've gone from 10/11-29/11=137.73gbp ... 19 days
to todays shock Meter reads
30/11-05 Jan=260.75 ... 37 days
What's changed is I have raised DQ into 21.c/22.c
Importantly daily units have increased to 30kwh range-most days.
I'll be able to compare kw's once tomorrows PDF is available.
Is it honestly going to cost 100 or more pounds per month to use 21/22.c over winter.
thanks mser's

£137.73 was your previous bill. What units is the 260.75?2 -

@QrizB
I suspect it's like last time, hopefully indeed as when PDF states 18pkwh then it should be accurate.
those days I didn't count though appreciate difference from full 31 days etc.
Interestingly I reset IHD at least twice During December, whilst it only Displays Smart info, it did have 2 x£45days until I reset it.

If i recall correctly, you have quite sophisticated storage heaters. Do these allow you to see how much energy each has taken (a) durung off peak charge and (b) for peak direct heat?
Do you have a smart meter?
Really I'm just thinking your much better looking at actual kWh rather than monthly bills (or even worse, monthly DD).1 -
What an interesting topic.🤣 We are all electric. Up until my illness ( now terminal) we had solid fuel in two rooms downstairs. My illness causing my fatigue etc.worried my wife regarding cleaning,fuelling etc of the stoves. I’ve dealt with it for 30+ years,so it was never an issue. Within a day whilst she was at work,my mates and me took the stoves out,swept the chimneys,sealed them and put in an electric version of the stoves. Selling the logs and coal paid for those ,with some change to spare…There was a panel in each room anyway,and infra red panels in certain armchair areas 😃. It works for us.We don’t have storage heaters,but we do have doors ,carpets,curtains and wear clothes! Many of our neighbours have open plan,tiled floors as though they are in Southern Spain.🤣. Indeed our neighbours,lovely young couple,wear shorts and t shirts everyday,then ,bless them,moan about the heating costs.
I read the input here,and without being rude,or too sarcastic,some seem to think that a penny a month cost is too much!🤣. We don’t hold back with washing machine,drier, freezers or whatever. Long and short our electricity costs an average of £5.50 per day. Sometimes less,sometimes a little more. Chuck in the standing charge and VAT, about £160 quid a month is about right. We budget £200 per month,or 50 quid a week. We don’t consider that bad. The monthly input sits upon a £1000 fund,just in case of severe weather,but of course in Summer it will rebuild, although we don’t touch it.It’s a simple way,but it works for us. Nor do we earn a fortune.In fact now that I cannot work any longer we are technically “Low Income “. Anyhow,we have power we can afford.2 -

A real rough guide, increasing indoor temperature by 1°C will increase energy use by 10%.
From maybe late Sept/Oct onwards temps 20/21/22.
With DQ I prob save from reducing pre scheduled hours in addition to slightly lower temps.
Yesterday I pre set 19c 2 05:30-09:30 +16:10=18:15
I had additional few hours during winter in addition to increased temps.

@mumf
That 160 p/month was my Winter bills approx, maybe once latest PDF is available, this bill should offer some sensible or unexpected usage.
