If you joined before the end of November, then November's fee was waived. They took the fee for December yesterday. Loyalty bonus for December will be paid in January if you remain a member for the rest of this month and qualify.Yorkshire_Pud said:
Barclays are supposed to waive the first £5 fee due to the reasons you both state I believe. I have been charged also. Whether they have to charge it and then refund it I don’t know. If they don’t refund me I will make a complaint which will be for more than £5.Khaderbhai said:
Same thing happened to me, switch completed last few days of Nov and they say they can’t give the £5 credit as only 1 of the 2 active DDs came out that month, not sure how they can count 2 working days as a month?!sigurd12 said:So I did the switch to Barclays 2 direct debits paid in £800 joined Blue Rewards last month. Success I got my £175 reward. Now into December and they have taken £5 fee for having Blue Rewards and was expecting to get the £5 fee as a loyalty bonus. but when I spoke to someone from Barclays you have to have paid the direct debits in the last month to get the loyalty bonus this month which as a new customer would be impossible. Never mind still up £170

If the only reward you are going to benefit from is the £5 reward for direct debit payouts, then you may as well cancel as soon as you get the £175. You'll be no better off by leaving it longer than necessary. If you go for the cashback as well, then it is safe to cancel as soon as you've got it safely in your current account.Johnny-Cage said:

boingy said:I don't know if it was what they intended but the T&Cs say they'll pay within 28 working days of meeting the criteria. I suspect they meant 28 actual days (=four weeks) but as it stands they don't have to pay out anything for over 5 and a half weeks. I'm sure they'll pay out eventually but maybe don't hold your breath.
As it's now 25 days since my switch completed on 10th November, I messaged Barclays to inquire as to when I might expect the incentive to be paid and the reply stated within 28 working days.

So to leave Blue Rewards, receive the loyalty payment and then not pay the fee the sequence is? Can’t remember now but I hope the reward is paid on the 1st and the fee taken on 3rd unless a weekend blah blah.
Just checked and both fee and reward are taken/paid on the 2nd working day of each month. Question is after paying fee in December and then cancelling BR will the £5 reward still be received in January?

Impossible. Effectively, paying the fee is what allows any rewards earned in the previous month (if any) to be added to the Blue Rewards wallet; it all happens simultaneously on the second working day of the month. (Even if Blue Rewards is cancelled within 14 days of joining, Barclays will not refund the fee, unless no rewards were added to the wallet in the first place.)

So still no incentives paid since the 20th November, as far as i can see the latest switch completion of those paid was the 15th, which looks like only those who applied to switch in the first week of the offer have been paid.
Looking like maybe it'll be just before Christmas if they are doing monthly batches of incentive payments🙄...1 -
Did they confirm that you have met all the criteria? My switch completed on 15th and they paid the incentive on the 20th, along with a bunch of other folks on this forum, so I would have expected you to be in that payment run unless they think you have not qualified.DiamondLil said:boingy said:I don't know if it was what they intended but the T&Cs say they'll pay within 28 working days of meeting the criteria. Yes, I have met the criteria - to be honest though, I strongly doubt they know what they are talking about as they also thanked me for being a loyal customer of 42 years... which I most definitely have not been !

Hehe. I'm loving this thread. It's giving us a real insight into how chaotic and untogether the Barclays behemoth is. They seem to think you are a new customer who has been with them for 42 years. Congratulations - that's pretty special!DiamondLil said:boingy said:

92 pages and counting. If someone is going to make a movie of this they'll have to cut out quite a lot of the detail...
