Cost Of Living Payment

It's possible there may be one almighty screw-up going on here. Like @todgertownwhite my letter said £500 and my wife's £250. I'd be surprised if these are the only cases like this. Possibly there may be thousands. The back of the letter says the decision is based solely on automated processing. I suspect programmer error. Having read the link I think it should be £500 total either as one payment or 2 X £250. My wife's letter and mine are identical in every respect bar the dates issued (Oct 20th her, Oct 26th me) and the payment amounts. Nothing at all to indicate any reason for my payment to be twice as much as hers.Spoonie_Turtle said:
Hmm. Have a read of this to see if it clears anything up?todgertownwhite said:Today both my wife and I got our winter fuel payment advice, if its the same amount as last year, £250,then hers says she's to get that, but mine says 500,(including the 300living allowance) my total for household should be £800 pound combined,or it was when I went to school! Am I missing something here? Along with £50?

We talked about it and decided we would wait and see what happens and if there were others in the same boat. We're worried if we notify them now they make an error the other way and only pay £250. But if we receive a total of £750 then we'll speak to them asking if the payments are correct (I suspect not)
I spoke with a relative the same age who said he'd received a letter saying his payment would be £500 but he lives alone so that's the correct amount. Last year he got £500. So did we. But as two payments of £250. I have seen nothing anywhere indicating any increase.
Additionally this is where confusion over the pensioner cost of living payment comes in. It's part of the winter fuel payment but many people may think this is a separate payment.

That;s the difference - if you get the Guarantee Credit part of Pension Credit, you are in Core Group 1 and automatically get it, providing your supplier is part of the scheme.scottleag said:
This is what I thought but the letter I received on Wednesday made no mention of the property. It said I qualify because I'm on pension credit guarantee, am with a supplier who takes part in the scheme, and am the named account holder. Nothing elseSpoonie_Turtle said:
Your property now has to qualify, not just you actually having high bills. It's a theoretical calculation based on the age, type and size of your home.
People on other means-tested benefits (including if they just get the Savings Credit part of PC) will be in Core Group 2 if their property qualifies.

My daughter received hers this morning.

Anyone who hasn't received a COLP as yet can follow how many payments have been made so far. As of yesterday 4.8m had been made at a rate of 1.6m per day. Figures for the final day of payment from the COLP made earlier in the year show the amount of people paid on that day dropped from 1.6m to 0.9m. At some point today the statistics below should update with today's payments listed. if it is still 1.6m then payments are still ongoing:

Got mine today.
Yes, 3 clear working days since I received my text.
I'm thinking they are paying by the last 2 digits of your National Insurance number.
Mine is between 61 and 800 -

I don't think that's correct either because my daughter had hers today and her last 2 digits are under 20. Mine are between 51 and 70 and i had mine on the first day.

Me neither I keep checking. I'm low on food, electric and baccy and I really need it to be honest. My nat ins is between 60-70 last digits.Muttleythefrog said:Not received yet although in previous rounds have tended to be first day.0 -
Ah baccy.... try to get onto vaping (invest in a decent vape device, coils, battery, charger - perhaps £100 judging from my wife's recent episode of replacements).. and make your own vape liquid perhaps as could reduce smoking costs massively! If you do get desperate for food... in my experience social media is extraordinary in pointing you to available local support like community larders etc and indeed getting personalised help. Yesterday alone I saw someone (and I live in a rural county, small town) say they were struggling to feed their family... within a couple hours they'd had excellent advice (foodbanks, community larders, community projects that would provide emergency food right away) plus people offering to drop off supermarket shops to their address.Aquapara said:

Otherwise hopefully payment will be very soon... I imagine the smoke is coming out of DWP servers."Do not attribute to conspiracy what can adequately be explained by incompetence" - rogerblack2 -
Ha yeh thanks for that I managed to just get a parcel and I've tried vaping but I havnt brought one for over £60 yet but they don't seem to last me very long and I'm sick of them failing on me just after the warranty expires, always the month afterwards!Muttleythefrog said:
