  • I applied before the deadline, have jumped through all the initial hoops for the first tranche of cash (I think) just waiting for it to hit my account.
Does the main part of the MSE website archive the offer as I was keeping that handy to see make sure I fulfil all the steps to qualify? Thanks.
To answer myself - there this thread in which someone has posted a link to the T&Cs for this offer which includes all the necessary steps:
    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6484332/hsbc-205#latest
but I would also echo what others have said, that MSE should archive their summary of the offer details after the offer expires as it's a useful reference.
Take a screenshot, it's easy to delete when you no longer need it.

Personally I'd archive the actuall T&Cs from HSBC - these are the rules that you need to abide by, not the paraphrased version from MSE or elsewhere. I usually save a pdf copy or screenshot the web page myself rather than relying on MSE to keep them handy.

As above, it's your responsibility to view and retain offer terms, and it's the actual ones rather than MSE's paraphrasing that you'd need, unless it's an MSE-specific offer (this one isn't).

MSE does archive the weekly emails, which will usually capture leading offers: https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/tips/

but won't maintain an archive of their entire site.  However, there is an independent archiving site that does so for vast quantities of web pages, so is a valuable resource in situations like this:

    https://web.archive.org/

    so, for example

    https://web.archive.org/web/20230000000000*/https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/banking/compare-best-bank-accounts/

has (at the time of posting) a history of 1,775 prior versions of MSE's main bank accounts page.  You'd also be able to find past versions of definitive HSBC pages too, although the key one is referenced already in the thread linked above....

Thanks all and yes, I do agree the responsibility was on me to screenshot the MSE offer or preferably the HSBC terms. My lazy, my bad, lesson learned.

You don't need to screenshot the HSBC ts&cs, they will be sent to you.  However I found the MSE description was a succinct summary so I took a screenshot of that as well.

Thanks, that's what I meant re: the HSBC terms, poorly worded.

Thanks to eskbanker's link to the web.archive I've found the MSE description too, here it is for anyone else who wants their summary to refer to:

  • I've received the £125 incentive a few days ago, along with a text message confirming it had been paid yesterday.

It was paid into the account about 5 days after completing all the bullet points that have kindly been posted above.

Now to start using the Global money card!
  • My partner applied before the deadline (but after the deadline was announced) and he received a communication saying he has been refused due on account of his credit score!
This was a huge surprise, it is a high score (900+), never been refused anything, and nothing bad to flag up. We were wondering if they are simply shaving numbers of applications down and using this as an excuse. Would be interested to hear if others had the same experience, and if there’s any grounds for appeal?
  • I've had the same experience about being turned despite having a high score. Am putting it down to too many applying but would be interested in others experiences

It's complete unfounded speculation that declined applications are because of volumes, but any references to credit scoring relate solely to HSBC's own internal proprietary scoring mechanism rather than the 'scores' invented by the credit rating agencies - they're renowned for being quite picky about who they accept for the Advance account but don't even see those 'scores' never mind take them into account....
