    So i applied Tuesday night, it took minutes, came up saying i'd been accepted...but i still havent received any email ( this made me a tad nervy til i read @prettyandfluffy 's post aove- timely reminder it takes 10 dsys, do thanks!!) id assumed there would be some kind of automated email acknowledgement, but none so far.Ill await the posted confirmation/ acc details

    This is par for the course with HSBC. As well as being super picky, they also take absolutely ages.

    Do you open this account online?  There aren’t many branches left.  I’m thinking of doing it but not sure how easy it is.  You get credit checked too I think but don’t think that’s a problem for me right now.
  • Hi, re the Pay £1,500+ in once. does anyone know if that has to be in one go or can you make a couple of payments say £1000 and the £500 later?
    thanks,
    linda

  • I think HSBC should be very grateful that I chose to open an Advance Account with them.......not the other way round. If they want to try to attract some of my vast wealth by offering suitable savings/investment products I'm prepared to give them that opportunity. Of course they always have had the right to pick who they want as customers/ clients and fortunately for them, in my case they chose wisely.
  • Wee update..no email yet , but they have texted..
    ...."Great news! Your HSBC account is open, your card and PIN are on their way. If you're new to HSBC, you'll also get a telephone banking security number. You can use this, along with your sort code and account number, to register for mobile and online banking."

    Stage 1 feels like its done...

    March's total = £123.81/£2025.00  (6.11%)

    2024  = 365x1p challenge #10 final tally £668.10

    It would seem not to be the case this time.  Despite HSBC telling me it would be 10 days before they confirmed everything, the account was set up and debit card received within 6 days, OH's was 5 days.
  • Welcome to the club, you will of course be expected to maintain strict standards as HSBC don't let any rif raf into their Banking Emporium which is currently offering an incredibly poor & uncompetitive 5% regular saver.

    I was expecting an email after application but there was nothing as mentioned on here. I have since received a couple of emails and i am awaiting a debit card in the post.

    For a successful application, not taking the credit card and selecting zero overdraught may help.

    Wow, HSBC must really want you as a customer. I'd be slightly concerned that they were going to deluge me with marketting stuff to try to sell me anything & everything.
