If you've found a Quidco/TopCashback offer you want to use then start the purchase process again, using a new instance of your browser (or a different browser) with all anti-ad/spam/virus/cookie blockers turned off. Make sure you sign on to TCB/QC before starting the purchase via their website.
Once done kill the unprotected browser session before your PC drowns in crap (maybe).1 -

I was also rejected for this but offer the standard account. It's frustrating as I also have a good wage, paid off my morgage etc without any issues and no debt. I haven't used my credit card in quite a while so it's probably this which has brought my credit rating down.1

It does seem that the behaviour of HSBC is rather like a credit card issuer using their own criteria as to who they want @Tonski, but the general rule seems to be that the applicant who is a borrower and pays it off regularly is wanted.
I must admit I have been mystified in the past by both acceptances and rejections, and credit limits.0 -
Just looked on my Advance account (been with them about 30 years and was ported to an Advance account when the one I had was closed down) and just seen my overdraft which has never been used is £1250, we literally keep very little in the account, money comes in from wage (part time now) & pensions and is transferred to Chase the same day normally around 6.00amTotally Debt Free & Mortgage Free Semi retired and happy1

Don’t worry, if you’re just wanting an account for travel money when using a debit card abroad, there’s plenty of great options (may not get £205 but some other decent benefits):
Soft Search:
• Starling Bank
• Monzo
Hard Search:
• Virgin Money
• Metro Bank
Travel Money Cards:
• Post Office Travel Money Card
• Sainsbury’s Bank Travel Money Card
• TUI Travel Money Card
There’s just a few but plenty out there. It’s annoying not to get the £205 but you won’t be left without any good options, which are easy to get.

Every current account is assessed in this manner. The only difference is that HSBC are unusually narrow in their eligibility requirements (in general but especially for the Advance account).

Just thought I would add that I was also rejected for the HSBC Advance Account. Kinda a shame as it would be minimal work for a free £205 and no need to switch.

Would be interesting to see what numbers apply after tonight's Martin Lewis show where he gave the impression it should be fairly straightforward to get through the checks.1

A major reality check to come for many I fear...0
