HDBC Advance - gutted

At the risk of repeating myself, you are mistaken. Please read earlier contributions to the thread to discover why.Jae14 said:Same here - rejected. I have a perfect credit score too.
You've jumped in on probably the least attainable joining/switching bonus there is. Don't be disheartened, there's very easy money available with no risk (just leave your main banking activity where it is).Jae14 said:Never switched banks as it seems to much stress/hassle/unknowns so thought I'd go for the HSBC Advance offer. Was offered the standard account but didn't go for it.2 -
I signed up for this & have received everything except my Telephone Banking Security Number...
Is there anyway to set up or log into my actual account without this?
I tried calling them but they said I need to wait for it to come n the post...even though it says on their website you can call them to set this up for you!
Not a good first impression tbh1 -
HSBC is very old fashioned. The statements are unchanged in at least 20 years, the credit card disappears from the app at night, the wording and procedures are slow and archaic. Don’t be surprised it takes ages to get an account. Although the app is making great strides of late. I sometimes wonder if HSBC froze the bank at point of take over from Midlands Bank.0

I would agree it is helpful to read about people’s experience with this offer. It creates a pattern about the way HSBC handles this offer - it looks like most people‘s application gets rejected.4500 said:WillPS said:But thank you for signing up and venting, v helpful.Actually, the venting is quite helpful - reading through this thread stopped me from going ahead and applying and then having a hard search and rejection on my credit file... and I can't imagine I'll be the only one that's been deterred after reading this thread.I'd like to be able to say "well hopefully Martin Lewis will also read this and think twice before making these things seem super easy" but I am not quite that naieve.
Though I doubt Martin Lewis will read this🧵. He’d need to have much more than 24 hours in his day if he wanted to follow the Forum😏. If you want to make his team aware, you could try emailing them

Rejection on the credit file? Is this a thing?
in the past I was rejected by Santander, it just showed as a hard search and nothing more.1 -
It won't show as a rejection but just a hard credit search. And having done the search why not take an account, even if not the advance account, as that then gives you an account to use as a donor for any future switches.1

Rumour has it that the current HSBC offer will end Monday.

You should indicate your source for that.@friolento said:Rumour has it that the current HSBC offer will end Monday.0 -
It's in the small print at the bottom of the page: "To be eligible for the offer you can't have held an HSBC current account or opened a first direct current account since 1 October 2018. Offer ends 6 November 2023. UK residents only"

Tracing the source for a rumour is generally notoriously difficult.
However, as it happens, I just stumbled across a - genuine - Facebook post from a certain Martin Lewis who communicated yesterday that the offer would end Monday. So it is possible that he was the source.
