HDBC Advance - gutted

Didn’t really need to have another current account, however intended to use to hold holiday money. Applied for the HSBC Advance (to get the £125 bonus), was declined and now have a hard credit search on my record. Not sure why it was declined as I earn a reasonable amount and have a good credit rating - bit racked off now tbh.

Nobody has a right to services from any particular company. HSBC UK have a reputation for being relatively selective (for a high street bank). I'm sure someone else will offer you an account for your holiday money.0 -
Don't take this personally. HSBC is notorious for being choosy and rejecting people left right and centre. Presumably if their income isn't high enough. For travel there are many other debit, credit and prepaid cards.2

Although they said I wasn't eligible for the Advance account they said I could open another account with them and gave me the link. I didn't go for it.1

Same here many months ago. I went with their alternative current account that they offered and then switched it away a few months later… I figured as I’d used up a credit search I may as well get something out of it.Best Regards,

Same, just now0

the criteria for to get the offer seems to have gone back a year, in March their offer said you can't have held an account since 2019, now it's 2018. generally they go in the other direction1

Earlier this year I received switching incentives from both Halifax snd Lloyds, even though their switching t&c’s stated you can only qualify for one.I opened a First Direct account almost a year ago, so i just wondered if anyone knows whether HSBC would also likely pay the incentive.0

I was rejected too. I've never even switched an account before and actually thought I might make good use of this one.0
