If anyone else is thinking of applying quidco are offering 45. 00 cashback on the same deal and I have an email about double cashback tomorrow so possibly 90.00 cashback on top of the other offers.

That's a great post. I'm surprised Quidco allow you to get cashback on top of the offer - even more surprising is that Martin didn't flag it up.

I don’t think you can get the double cashback “The double cashback is not available on the following retailer categories (as listed on the Quidco site): Finance”

Was just about to update the post to say financial products excluded. Still worth going through quidco for the extra 42.00 though and topcashback showing 55.00 for me, although need to log in via a browser as the app is not playing ball today.

Might be that one reason for the perceived high rejection rate from HSBC Advance applications is the need to qualify for a £1K overdraft, even if you choose not to avail yourself of the facility.

Could try their overdraft eligibility checker before applying (and getting a hard credit check) to get some idea of likely success.

    https://overdrafteligibility-hsbc-lp.hsbc.co.uk/
I when through this checker and it said i was extremely unlikely to be eligible for the £1000 overdraft. I then repeated the checker with exactly the same answers but this time on the question "Do you expect to have at least £50,000 of savings or investments with HSBC UK in the next 6 months?", I clicked yes instead of no. It then said that I was extremely likely to be eligible for the overdraft.

Could somebody who has been rejected please confirm if there is a question similar to this in the application process? Maybe this is why people are being rejected?

The application does ask for your expected balance. I was accepted, offered the credit card and £2K overdraft (declined both) and put £2K as the expected balance. Perhaps its salary that's causing the rejections.

At least some people got a response.  I've not heard anything since i applied. How long did HSBC take to respond ?

I presume the response is via the email provided during the application?

Is there a help contact available?

HSBC is know for being slow at opening current accounts and it can take a week or more for something to turn up in the post. I'd be patient.

Out of interest (as I hold an advanced account already but only £400 overdraft) I applied for an increase of overdraft to over £1000. It was refused. I am paid close to 60k and have about £1200 left over each month. I also have a 200k mortgage with HSBC. So they seem to be very strict. I hardly ever use the overdraft, credit score is great with only £900 CC debts. So
I wouldn’t take it personally. For whatever reason the criteria seems to have changed. Barclays are far stricter.
Possibly then HSBC have decided you don't need a larger overdraft... they only have a limited amount of credit that they can allocate across their customers so they'd rather give it to people that are likely to use it (and pay for the privilege).

And of course your credit 'score' is a load of nonsense, but hopefully you know that already from the zillions of posts on this forum pointing that out!

Hmm. Quidco wouldn't pay me cashback for a car insurance purchase - even though I used their own comparison service and clicked on one of the results and bought a policy. I did screenshots of each step but they said they didn't record a purchase link. It appears if you have a sensible level of security on your computer you may find certain cookies aren't recorded. It's a rather old-fashioned way of tracking cashback TBH.
