I not only was accepted for the current acc. but they immediately offered me the Advance Account, then a credit card too at the same time.So I now have the Advance current account, a Global Money Card (on the way), a HSBC balance transfer credit card (27mths at 0%) and I added a savings account. Not sure why I looked a good customer to HSBC.Fortunately, or unfortunately depending on how you look at it, I don’t even have a balance to transfer 😀Digital Payback

Yet another reject here. Seems harder than the Rubik's Cube to crack!0

I've got visions of a high level HSBC management meeting in a couple of months where they are wondering why the take up of their offer has been so low...0

And no, it wasn't me, but HSBC never forgets!
The only ones I’ve heard are forgiving are Halifax/Lloyds
that said there’s no benefit really outside of the incentive bonus to get an advance account compared to other packaged accounts or premium it’s naff0 -
I would suggest people try via branch and take pay slips with you. I once obtained an advanced account t without a single penny going to hsbc. I went into branch and said I wanted the account, they made an appointment and I returned with proof. The account was mine with a handshake with the manager. It’s my current main account I now use it.0

I just find it ironic, given my familiarity with the state of 'certain banks' data, that this is the one thing they do seem to be good at.0 -
I received a ban from Lloyds bank back in 1995, when I was young and foolish.
Every year, once a year, from 2010 onwards I would apply for a bank account or a credit card ( just to test the ban more than anything) I would be instantly declined and would receive a letter stating “ due to information held on our records”. During these times I had a clean credit report / history, several well run bank accounts, and several credit cards with decent limits.
This year, as part of the switching deal I was accepted for the first time in nearly 3 decades, approved for a £500 overdraft ( that I won’t use) and a credit card with a £3k limit. I plan to keep a happy relationship with them now I am mature.
its entirely possible that any bank will have a long memory if you’ve done them wrong or cost them money but they may forgive you eventually.Best Regards,

Other institutions will be able to see a search had been carried out but not by whom or why.1
