Soappie you have to watch your language.....'failed' is not a word flyladies/gents are allowed to use! There is always another day.
Hugs to those in distress, mental or physical.
Today was slowish but steady:
- went to Pilates
- finished and sent off a report
- set up template for the next report; plan to take laptop away with me as I may have spare time over the next few days if Mum gets tired and wants a rest
- not quite packed into the bag but have piled clothes to encompass walking with DB and SIL, Sunday lunch out, clothes for doing Mum's garden and suit for going to BIL's funeral. Have also picked out spare yellow garments in case Mum wants to borrow them for funeral as she doesn't have any. All that is left to pull together is underwear, swimming gear (jic) and toiletries.
- Mr N and I went to town and got the last few items for the Christmas charity bags. At the moment they are in bags/on the dining table so tomorrow I shall sort them into 2 bags.
- I've checked maps and written down postcodes for the various journeys
- picked flowers and foliage to make SIL/DB an autumn arrangement.
- checked fridge to make sure we won't be leaving anything to go squishy while we're away.
- double-checked plans with Mum (as she forgets) and DB.
So tomorrow's plan is pack, arrange flowers, fill bird feeders, bag up presents and put everything in the hall. Mr N is going to the gym then a blood test so we hope to be away by noon to meet DB 2.30-3pm. I also should really do some drum practice as although I've listened to the song a few times, I've sadly let time go by without picking up my sticks for a couple of weeks. All that time I could have really been working and impressed my tutor next Thursday
If I can vacuum before I go, so much the better.....Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.8 -
pigpen said:Cloth_of_Gold said:I wonder if you, or anyone else, has advice on stain removal. I bought a SH cotton damask tablecloth on Ebay. I don't know how old it is but it must be pre-1971 as it still had the price ticket on - 23 shillings and 11 pence.
I suspect it's from the 1960s but it has obviously never been used, hence the ticket still being attached. It had some brown marks at the edge and I sent it to the laundry with my shirts this week but the stains haven't come out. It's only a smallish area at one edge so they're not very obvious but I'd quite like to get rid of them. I don't know what they are but I wondered if I washed it with a sachet of Dr Beckmann's Glow White it might do the trick. Anyone got any thoughts please?
I'm all for hitting it with everything lolThanks - I'll do my best. My mother had a 'copper' in which she washed the whites. She used to add a blue bag - remember those? She used a bit of the blue bag in white icing, such as on the Christmas cake. One year she made a birthday cake for my brother and added a bit too much from the blue bag and instead of having a slight blue-ish tinge, it was bright blue. I don't know what was in those blue bags but I'm surprised that the blue icing didn't kill us!DH's brother and his daughter and her son came today. They arrived just after 11.30, which is too early for me for lunch guests and caused me a bit of stress. Fortunately, I had had to clean and tidy for the carpet cleaning earlier in the week so not too much housework needed to be done - just a top-up clean of the bathroom and a quick vac round. I popped out to local shops and then set to work on making the cottage pie and apple and blackberry crumble. We ate before 1.30, which was a triumph as far as I was concerned, although DH moaned that it should have been ready by one. Naturally, I took no notice. I'd made some brownies for the 5 year old as I thought he might prefer those to crumble but he didn't, so I now have a brownie glut!. I'm going to give some to a friend as we don't want to eat too many. After lunch we went to a local park where the small person had a whale of a time on the swings, slides, zip wire etc. They came back briefly for a cuppa ( and I managed to get rid of a couple of brownies) before leaving at 4.45. I was then faced with a mountain of washing up and I had only just completed it when it was time to make supper and then more washing up!Later, I noticed quit a lot of bits of food on our newly cleaned carpets so I got the Shark out and had a quick vac. There two little bits of (possibly) brownie that had been trodden on so wouldn't come up with the vac. I tried a bit of water but to no avail but was too tired to try anything else. I've got some sort of magic cleaning stuff that works well on the carpet so I'll try that tomorrow.Well, that's my day, hope everyone had a good one, or at least got by, and for those with anxiety or other mental health problems - big hugs.10 -
Morning.
I've been up since silly o'clock with painful arthritis, and just about ready to go back to sleep now! I have a long list of aspirations for today, but I'm not posting it because I doubt that I shall actually do much - though I ought to go to Action Heart.
Hope everyone has a good day xxx9 -

WM x 1, awake too late to put TD on using cheap leccy so that’ll have to wait, though it gives me time to properly sort it and check it can all go in the TD. Not enough pot in DW so that hasn’t been on either.
Plan to pop to the aged Ps today, as i’m not at work.

Morning all
I won't do much flying today as I'm going out for lunch with DD and DGD to celebrate my retirement. We're also going to stop off at a large retail outlet to see if there's anything I want to buy with the very generous gift card I was given by work on my last day before I went on leave (official final day is 31 October but I'm using up accrued leave).
I do need to put on a WM load because I'm fast running out of tea towels. Given the torrential rain we've got at the moment, it will need to be TDd. The forecast is not looking great for the weekend either.
Hugs to those who need them.I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

Morning all,
Lots of hugs and sticks thrown for BDs. Iona lovely your list can wait - listen to your body and rest please. I am sorry you had such a bad night xx
YL - I hope in WFH today you are sat by the fire with your laptop, with a plentiful supply of hot drinks. Take care of YOU x
Valli - how did the meeting go at work? x
I did way too much yesterday, I was exhausted by the time I flopped into the bath at 7pm. DS made me a ham sandwich for my tea because I was too dog tired to cook for myself (I had made the childrens' tea of course), then I turned my back and the puppy had jumped up and pinched it from the side!! I could have cried but I laughed. DS made me another sandwich then gave me a foot rub bless him.
We are almost ready for our new arrivals tomorrow (hens and pigs), just need to bed some more of the shed out. Long list of paid stuff things to plod through today, but I have lit the fire (it is cold, damp and foggy yet again here today) and I am going to relocate to the sofa to work in there.
Lamb chops for tea, and early nights all round. The children break up today for a week thank goodness, I have three days annual leave too.
Take care all xx10 -

meeting went well, we got through all the agenda items - really this meeting should have happened when the changes were made. As of next week I'll be working Wednesday, Thursday and Friday so I can keep an eye on the cafe.
Been to see the aged Ps, mum's had the letter from the DVLA (new mantra - yes, some of it IS Welsh but it's also in English) to enquire about her health/fitness to drive and she STILL thinks she's capable of driving - I had to help her get dressed this morning as she was trying to put 2 t-shirts on. *sigh*
