I suspect it's from the 1960s but it has obviously never been used, hence the ticket still being attached. It had some brown marks at the edge and I sent it to the laundry with my shirts this week but the stains haven't come out. It's only a smallish area at one edge so they're not very obvious but I'd quite like to get rid of them. I don't know what they are but I wondered if I washed it with a sachet of Dr Beckmann's Glow White it might do the trick. Anyone got any thoughts please?

Just rub some in and then wash it out do you mean?

But, there was one thing about your reply that I don't understand. You said:
"I also get them to iron the duvet cover"
I have never heard of this "ironing a duvet cover" phenomenon....Could you please explain?Ha ha. I really like getting into bed with a nice wrinkle-free duvet but I can't be bothered to do it myself, and it's not really practical anyway on a domestic ironing board. My mother used to iron everything - socks, underwear, tea towels - but I certainly don't do any of those.
Been to see Do I Love You written by John Godber formerly of Hull Truck fame so thought of Piggers…lots of Hull references inc The Deep and Hessle and other places, now forgotten.
I have to lead a meeting tomorrow and i won’t be nervous because i’m so bloody cross about it all.
PS Have you googled damask? I believe it’s cotton? Glo White worth a shout,

Mostly work today, so another assessment to write up......surely I shouldn't be behind yet; I've cut my hours but keep going away for weekends or finding other 'stuff' to do. Still, I have one report which will be done tomorrow and I can start today's one. Today's assessment was less frenetic than last week's as the Art Therapist who had appeared to commandeer every inch of space in the room has been told that the room is a shared one so other people i.e. me need to get to the desk! So I only needed to temporarily relocate a couple of 'in' trays and move a chair.
Went through charity Christmas presents with Mr N as we need to get them ready to take to Mum's at the weekend (she liaises with a charity which takes bags - provided by a local sports shop - of things to Ukraine). We've got most everything for one bag (teenage girl) but have more to get for the man. That will be tomorrow's task.
Wrote a list for the weekend as we have an overnight stop with DB (computer, present from our last hol and some gf bread for me), a few days with my mum (leaf sucker and other gardening tools as we want to do all the autumn stuff for her; charity bags) and clothes for BILs funeral on Tuesday (happily his favourite colour was yellow and I have a top with yellow flowers on which goes well with my burgundy 'funeral suit').
Filled bird feeders.
Result from doing the Amaz0n offers yesterday: got a £15 voucher just for uploading a photo to their app.
Emailed a friend to catch her up on the last couple of months since we wrote.
Final check I've removed everything from my old computer which I'd passed on to Mr N a year ago when it got too slow for me. It is now too slow for him, so I've stripped lots off it and my brother is going to fiddle with it in case it is any better than what he has (he doesn't use Windows so doesn't need much speed or space).
I got the iron out for the first time in probably years recently as I was going out and decided my usual wash-and-hang garment was in need of flattening. I think Mr N sometimes irons some of his stuff but maybe I just don't wear the sort of things that need ironing, or maybe I just don't notice.......Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.9 -
Good morning all xx
Usual autopilot status here. Unfortunately I'm still at the work / flump in a chair / stress stage. I can claim my state pension in 3 years and 3 months next Wednesday. Not that I'm counting or anything 🤣
YL...I'm thinking the faint/ dizziness was maybe linked to my earache at the weekend. A balance issue. When you're shopping you're constantly moving your head up and down, left and right. I didn't make the connection at the time. But a couple of occasions since then I've moved my head quickly and had a 'woah' moment.
Oh lawks I'd better get a move on. Wishing you all a peaceful day.

Morning all,
Grey and wet here, at least it was dry when I fed the animals. So far:
- Children away to school
- Animals fed
- Beds made
- Both stoves swept out and ash pans emptied onto compost
- WM going
- DW unloaded and reloaded with hob bits/dog bowls/air fryer innards - now chugging away
- New hand towel out in bathroom
- A few paid stuff emails sent
Now to really focus on paid stuff for the rest of the day. It is DDs parents evening at 3.35, and I need to collect DS at 4.15, then head into town for fuel and essential supplies.
Take care all, have fab days xx9 -

@Cloth_of_Gold yes, rub it in, leave it a bit then wash out.
Bedroom today I see. I'm looking at the weather forecast closely. Not sure it it's worth putting the bedding on the line or in the tumble drier...Hmmm I see it's changed in the last 30 minutes and is showing more rain throughout the day and tomorrow's not looking much better so TD it has to be.

morning all
not been awake long so i’m part way through my vertical half hour (for anyone new, if you’re interested, i take tablets which require me to stay upright for 30 minutes) then i have to go downstairs as i have run out of other tablets.
Round, that’ll be me too, near enough, for state pension. Woot.
DW x 1. Raining and i haven’t done any washing.
Not going in until later, today, so I shall iron.

Morning all. I'm not even out of bed yet. I'm struggling with my mental health again, but I don't really feel there's anyone I can talk to, and I know the local self-referal mental health service is more about teaching you CBT for anxiety than actually listening to your woes, and I already know how to do CBT. So I will just keep plodding on and praying for a miracle. About 90% of my problems could be solved by a decent lottery win!
Today's jobs are primarily finish off excess holiday washing and get back on top of my dailies, square the budget away post-holiday enter upcoming events onto calendar, and try to make a plan for when to tackle the bloody gardens (dry weather preferred!)Married 40y.o. mum of an autistic 11y.o.
