Glad to hear they aren't wasting more member's money (than they are already) and are using up stocks of old stuff rather than binning it all and insisting on using the new brand for everything from day 1.wizzywig27 said:Ordered a new card thinking I’d get the new one and they send out the same one as before.I also hate the way when I use Apple Pay the notification is the nationwide logo from ages ago.All this money on adverts and rebranding and they can’t even get it right

I wanted the new card, so in theory they have wasted money?Section62 said:

What made you think that'd happen? They have been very clear that it won't:wizzywig27 said:Ordered a new card thinking I’d get the new one and they send out the same one as before.I also hate the way when I use Apple Pay the notification is the nationwide logo from ages ago.All this money on adverts and rebranding and they can’t even get it right

Is it not a little bit hypocritical to accuse them of wasting money only to order a new card when you had no need for one? You know the process of issuing, printing and dispatching a debit card costs not insignificant sums of money, right?Current account cards
Anyone opening a new current account after 16 October will get a new-look card. After this date we will also be replacing any lost, stolen or damaged cards with our new ones.
However, as we have quite a lot of cards with our old logo on them, we will be using these for card renewals. So, if your card has expired, you will be given one in the old design until the stock has run out.
Savings accounts cards
Our new-look cards will be available for savings customers in the next few months.
Credit cards
Our new credit cards will be available from early November.

Android 9 stopped getting updated/supported at the start of 2021 (more than 18 months ago) and Android 10 at the start of 2022 (more than 6 months ago) so not unreasonable for any financial institution to exclude them.HHUK said:
Card Readers
Yesterday I tried to access my Saffron BS app and was told I needed to update it. When attempting to do that I was advised it wasn't available for my (Android Version 9) device. Hanley Economic's won't work on Android versions older that 10 either. I did ask Saffron to send me a new phone to enable me to continue to use the app, but they politely declined!
When logging on to the websites of First Direct and HSBC they require a Digital Secure Key accessed via the relevant app. How long will it be until my ancient phone won't allow me to use this facility?
Perhaps there is still a use for card readers after all.
It's a moot point from the HSBC stable as they'll provide a physical device instead on request.0 -
I noticed the branch in Derby has received the new branding already. Quicker than I had expected, but doesn't look any better in person, the 'pacman eating a house' thing gets more obvious the bigger the logo gets...5

The Ohio based Nationwide is nothing to do with the one in Swindon - that's probably why they didn't usurp their logo in the 'UK branch'Lions_89 said:I have always liked the hsbc lion, it’s a shame the bank does not make use of this icon in the UK as it does in other markets. For people interested in branding there is a whole thread on the monzo boards somewhere dedicated to bank branding and their cards!

I’m aware of that, I just put it there to show the brand 🤭 I do think even the US one is better than the new uk one.[Deleted User] said:

Sorry I was’t clear in my original post, my card was lost. I didn’t realise I had to justify it though.WillPS said:

In all honesty I didn’t criticise them for wasting money, I simply said they couldn’t even get it right. So call me what you want0 -
I think it looks like a reject from Barclays as they use an eagle already.Lions_89 said:

Not calling you anything, I have no problem with you nor any cause for namecalling, but I am saying you are being selective with the truth:wizzywig27 said:

If "all this money" on adverts wasn't intended to criticise, I put it to you that contribution was poorly judged. Almost as poor a judgement as reordering a card to get a new design even though they were not yet available (not that you did that, of course).0
