Good afternoon everyone. Well. I vowed we wouldn't be stupid enough to go round asda this close to christmas... That was until I discovered we needed milk, bead, christmas card for OH, a couple more presents etc etc. So we traipsed round asda knowing full well it would be total chaos... and we weren't disappointed-it was just one of those occasions I really wanted to be proved wrong. The queues were mad and you could barely move. We came out of shop at just gone 3.55 pm. They shut at 4 today. As we were leaving we saw a couple entering with a big trolley each. The security guy said we close in less than 5 minutes, to which the woman replied, it's ok mate we can run fast and only want a couple of bits!!!!! (with 2 big trolleys? sure! I believe her-not!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
I also did my good deed for the day, got OH to sort out his wardrobe and between us and both our wardrobes we took 4 bin liners full of clothes to the clothing bank and a bag full of shoes etc the girls sorted out the other day. As soon as I get time I'm going to sort out the mountain of bedding too!!!
Right, now I know I'm rambling a bit.. so I'l go now and drink my tea OH has just made me.

    afternoon all,

We have been for a lovely walk about 6 - 8 miles, really enjoyable, and quite warm till you stop, then its freezing, Little dog is fast asleep in her basket, she loved it.

I had left my Nigella ham in coke in the SC, and have just finished it off in the oven, it looks and tastes lovely, going to have some for tea with a jacket spud, OH and DD will have mash they prefer that.

Picked the goose up from my mums and its now in the conservatory slowley de-frosting, made the base up for my baileys triffle, its for the 27th so have frozen it, and will finish it on the day.

Tomorrow we will make profiteroles, sausage rolls, and get the veg ready, want to have christmas lunch by 1 ish, so that we can fit a tea in too :D

Hope you are all having good days xx

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Thank goodness my younger DGCs will be in nappies for a while yet!

Many thanks for all the Granny Congrats - I'm really touched. Pleased to say DD and DGD were allowed home yesterday evening, so only about 12 hours in hospital. How lovely - to think I had to stay in for 10 days with my eldest and 6 days with the other two! There was nothing wrong or anything - it was just the norm at the time. My MIL had 6 children, and all but the youngest were born at home, much nicer I think.

Catowen - hope you are having a nice birthday!

Dorry - congrats on your DGD! Lovely isn't it! I was 40 when my oldest grandchild was born - he's 14 now and I can't believe it. He was born in December too, so an even more expensive month!

Penny-Pincher - so pleased to hear you didn't have to stay in hospital!:T

Best wishes to everyone who's not well, or whose children are ill - may you all be feeling much better in time for Christmas!

(((HUGS))) to those who aren't very happy this Christmastime, whatever the reason.

Sorry I haven't mentioned everyone individually, but I do read and think of you all xxxx

Realised today we still have a couple of presents to buy, so will try going down the town on the bus tomorrow and see if there's anything left:rolleyes: DSIL has asked for a Spiderman 3 DVD, or else a Genesis compilation CD with a particular track on it. Absolutely no idea what to get for DS, as he can't think of anything he wants! Oh well, we have a few choccy bits from Thorntons for him, so at least he'll have something!

Dinner tonight is sausage, egg and chips. Not sure what we'll have tomorrow - will see what I feel like cooking when tomorrow comes!

DS is out with some friends tonight, a young couple who were married earlier this year. They are living in Cyprus for a year, and are home for the wife's birthday (today) combined with an early Christmas, and they're meant to be flying back to Cyprus tomorrow - not if this freezing fog keeps up, they won't! Still, her family will be really pleased to have them a bit longer.

Hope everyone has a good evening.

    Best wishes

    ivyleaf xx

    Evening all,

Not as organised as I would like to be, but that is nothing new! Hope that everyone who isn't well or has unwell los will be better soon.

Bought a frozen turkey some weeks ago and put it in the freezer, then got a present of one yesterday...so have cut up second one and just roasted the carcase to make soup for to-morrow, think that I will cut ham in two and just cook half as we are at my brother's on Tuesday and are having a leg of lamb on St Stephen's day so ham leftover from dinner to-morrow will only be needed for sandwiches.

Breakfast on Christmas day in Mean Mansions will be 'bits' as usual....cocktail sausages, smoked salmon, canap!s etc as we have about 20 people for drinks after mass...lovely that I don't need to think of cooking a dinner as well!

Have to take baby Erika back to hospital tomorrow morning to have PKU test done, then to airport to pick up DD2's partner who gets in about one...then I can start on wrapping presents I don't get finished to-night...can't find two that I have only had a couple of days...no doubt they will turn up as I know that they are in the
    house somewhere.

Happy birthday Catowen :bdaycake:my DD1 is 37 to-day ...it only seems like yesterday!

    Have a lovely evening everybody
