Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 23/12/07. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well

Guess who cannot sleep????? Went to bed after Parky, OH was throwing himself around the bed, so have come through to make a cuppa and see if he settles into a deeper sleep, then I might stand a chance.
As I said earlier, I am ready for the big day. A smoked gammon joint waiting to be cooked for supper tonight and then sliced to eat during the week. We have beef for Christmas Day with raspberry trifle.......neither of us are keen on christmas pudd, although OH loves Christmas cake.
I think I might re-arrange my sewing table tomorrow, it needs clearing up anyway and I want to move the bookcase that sits on the back of it across to give me more room to cut out...........one or two plans in mind but need to sleep on them (if only I could) LOL.
Did you see strictly?????????????? it was a foregone conclusion that Alishia was going to win. I felt so sorry for Matt and Flavia, the last two weeks they really pulled out all the stops, although I do have to say I think that Matt should have gone out instead of Gavin, but thats Jo Public for you.
I was just totting up my quidco dosh, only started using them in June and have had £126.00 so far which has gone into our holiday fund, have another £16 to come next month.........not bad for the first few months especially as I do not buy much, mind you £55 of it was from changing my car Insurance and £40 for changing my leccy supplier.
well I am going over to have a look see at whats on video on some of the quilting sites..............they usually manage to put me to sleep one way or another.........see y'all later.

Morning all! Didn't get back on to the thread yesterday so CONGRATULATIONS IVYLEAF and DORRY - such wonderful news just before Christmas! (((Hugs))) to all.
Happy Birthday CATOWEN - have a brilliant day!
(((Hugs))) to AMIE and KYLE's LOs - hope they are better very soon and over all the illnesses by the big day.
Well, the reason I didn't get back on here yesterday was that I felt really ill. I don't know what it is I've picked up but, boy, it has hit me like a ton of bricks! Of course, I had so much to do yesterday - because we're collecting my Mum this morning, to come and stay with us - so I was already panicking with so much to do and being too unwell to do it. I must confess there was a distinct smell of burning martyr here and my poor DH has had some very strong ear-bashings!  Mind you, he deserved some of them. I was shivering all day and he kept leaving all the doors open; then, he had said he would do the ironing but, of course, the phone kept going and so on and he didn't get round to it, so I ended up doing most of it. I asked him to get the paper while he was out and he picked up the usual Saturday paper and didn't think to check that the TV supplement was in it - it wasn't - and then, worst of all, about ten minutes before the first part of SCD finished, a friend of his phoned to say he wanted to bring a Christmas card round in half an hour and DH said OK!  The house looked like a tip, I looked even worse, we hadn't washed up, DH had left his tools out all over the hall floor for hours after he had replaced the loo seat and so on and on it went. Why on earth he couldn't think to say to his friend that I was unwell, I don't know - anyway, suffice to say, he has been severely told off. Of course, the friend brought his wife as well and, while it was nice seeing them, the timing was not appreciated! They stayed for about an hour and a halfand eft just before the results of SCD so I was hoovering at about midnight then I had to type some letters and invoices out to get in the post tomorrow. Phew, that's a long moan, but I am angry at being unwell again, I wish there was another week to go before Christmas and I wish my DH could think more like a woman sometimes!
Anyway, I still feel a bit sick this morning, I keep sneezing and even my eyelashes hurt! I've told my Mum that I'm not well and I hope she doesn't get it; of course, it's too late for her to make alternative arrangements and she is so looking forward to coming. She says it'll be worth the risk! Tomorrow, I have all the veg etc to prep and I still have some wrapping up that I was hoping to get done yesterday so I hope this bug starts to go away. I've been dosing up on Lemsips which seem to be the only thing that helps. I know I'm not the only one who has got this lurgy but us girls could do without it at this time of year, couldn't we? And I know I shouldn't moan when I think of others on here living with illness all the time. I'm sorry for moaning for so long but I needed to get it off my chest. Hopefully, rant over!
Apparently, some of the big supermarkets have been packed to the rafters with shoppers but keep running out of food; I can't understand it - the shops are only closed for literally a few hours over Christmas yet people are stocking up as if they will be under seige until the summer. A lot of people will do the same again next weekend ready for the New Year!
Well, I suppose I'd better have my shower - after yesterday, I look about 190 years old and I need to look like my normal self or my Mum will worry about me and force me to eat, even when I'm not hungry! Knowing her, she'll bring the cod liver oil and malt extract with her and dose me up on them!
Anyway, sorry for the moan - I know there are plenty of others far worse off than me, especially healthwise. I hope to pop back on later, probably when my Mum is having a doze - so I hope everyone has a great day and that you are all feeling relaxed and ready for Christmas. Massive (((Hugs))) for all the poorly biggies and littlies and I'll try and come back in a better mood!:D

ps - it took ages for the SCD results to sink in! I thought the show, and the whole series, has been fantastic. For the first time, I couldn't choose a winner and was secretly hoping that they would call it a draw! I think they both deserved to win but at least the voting eventually kept the right people in the competition - for ages I kept imagining the final would be between Kate and Kenny!KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

Good morning everyone. I'm up early to go and collect my turkey from the butcher before the crowds descend. We decorated our tree and it looks beautiful. Had a great time at the party last night - I stuck to my friends's legendary mulled wine, which is delicious but not too potent, but then tried Malibu for the first time  Not sure what I thought - like liquid Bounty I had it with tonic - what do other people do?
Congrats to Granny ivyleaf
Happy Birthday catowen :bdaycake:
Edit - Amie we have croissants with HM jam, smoothies and coffee for Christmas breakfast.
We're going to see The Golden Compass this afternoon (as long as all lists are finished ) and then guests arrive this evening. So if I don't see you again have a very :xmassign: :xmastree: :snow_grin :xmassmile :snow_laug :rudolf: :santa2: :hello:

Good Morning....I have been reading the daily, although not always posting.
Happy Birthday Catowen.
We were out at a Christmas get together last night, with friends at the golf club. The meal was ok, although when you order a steak to be cooked rare, I expect there to be blood on the plate....this piece of meat had a tiny bit of pink in the middle, not a bad piece of steak...just overcooked.
Anyway, we all had a good night.
OH has gone off to work, hopefully he should be finished today and not have to work tomorrow.
Got some sorting/tidying to do today and I'm going to make the cranberry sauce.
Have fun folks.....

Morning everyone
Managed to stay awake until the end of Parky - just. Crashed straight out until 6.30 this morning :T so can't complain at that, should have an hour or so before either DH or DS (or even a few hours for him as he was out last night - with the lads! ) show their faces, so a little me time now (which I can spend on here with no-one moaning IYKWIM:j :j ).
Happy Birthday :bdaycake:Catowen :bdaycake: 21 again??
Goose will be got out of the freezer first thing today, no decision yet as to what we are having with it. Have some fresh veg in, and quite a bit of food left from the buffet yesterday, so will have having that today with either a piece of beef or a Beef Wellington they had at Aldi. Not quite OS, but less that the piece of Fillet and gives me more time to do everything I need to get done for the 3rd Jan. No more organised visitors now, just going to see GN & GN on Xmas morning and anything else we and friends impromptu organise before. We will be a taxi service for DS, but what's new there, at least he never offers to D&D.
(((hugs))) to all those sickies and lo sickies, hope you feel better soon. Pen-Pin make sure NOTHING means exactly that - typing on here allowed though. Mrs_M glad you are feeling a little better.
Right must go and made a photo SD for the digital photo frame DH has been hanging his nose over which I have now re-located:o from its safe place.
Take care

Happy Birthday Catowen - have a lovely day
Hope everyone feeling under the weather feels much better very soon.
Had a lie in this morning - bliss. Have also a nice day ahead of me. House is clean and tidy ironing done - just some small washing to do. When picked up DS popped into Morrisons as it didnt look too bad - was worried that the shelves would be empty but managed to get everything off my list so am very happy and dont have to go to Asda tomorrow!
Am off out today to go and see Fred Claus and also have a buffet chinese lunch, we go past the farm shop so will be getting the fruit and veg on the way. On the way home we are going to MIL's to exchange presents and she is doing us tea so no cooking for me today :j
Only thing I didnt get round to yesterday was delivering neighbours Xmas cards and a coupe of pressies but some will be done today and some tomorrow.
Off now to log on to my Next vip sale slot - need to get DS some jeans.
Have a great day.
