You can switch a sole account into a joint Nationwide which qualifies as a "joint" switch.
Been on Nationwide chat and they say to qualify a joint account needs to be switched into a joint account to qualify again. So a bit confused now if I should go and open a joint account with Starling first to make sure I not get caught out or take the risk and switch a sole account into a newly opened joint with Nationwide.

They're wrong. I can confirm from experience. A switch (whether a sole or joint) into a joint account satisfies the condition
    • This must be the first time you've got one of our switch offers on a sole or joint account since 18 August 2021

Hi.  Wonder if anyone knows the answer,......My switch has started, NW emailed today to say they now have a list of all my payments.

When I look at "manage payees" on the Internet Bank, all my bill payments show but no Direct Debits, do these show later on in the process?  Thanks for any help.

Quire a surprise, more tha one month already Switching opportunity still there. I am about to try my luck. Estimated damage, Credit check, lose one of the donor AC with DD.
But I just notice this TCs is quite strange:
    10. You also won’t qualify for this offer if:
    You did either of the following before this offer was made available;
    a) started your application to open a FlexAccount, FlexPlus or FlexDirect current account with us and requested the switch as part of the application; or
My understanding is that you will need to apply and get your account opened first. Thereafter you have 60 days to complete switching.
Does anyone have any idea why they do not allow the people to apply and at the same time request for switching I understand this is typical approach by other banks.

I think the words to concentrate on are “before this offer was made available”. If someone opened a Nationwide account in the days before the offer was launched and asked for a switch at the same time, they lose out.

Not sure what's going on. OH and I applied for the sole accounts, switch completed and funds paid and the reg saver funded already with 3 payments. No issues at all and all very smooth sailing.

Now, we thought we could get the triple done and open a joint account (never had a joint account before). After filling out the whole form again we got told at soft search state they can't offer us a joint account, that was 4 days ago.

I opened a Barclays current account via app yesterday without issues and switched the Coop bank account in as it already had 2 DD set up for the refer a friend offer we both got.

Been to NW branch over lunch time today and were asking for help, had all sorts of documents with us. The lady just redirected us to an ipad to fill out exactly the same again, received the same message again. Another young guy, seemed rather clueless and looked like he just got out of bed, told us rather unfriendly it's a decision made at head office and they can't do anything even that the form said that applying for human intervention can be done online, via phone or in branch. Response, "we would direct you to the hotline and online".

As existing customers with sole accounts there was not even interest to take copies of passports, payslips or council tax bill to provide further support to someone looking at the case.

I can conclude, their branch opening promise isn't worth a penny when they are unable to put staff in their branches actually having a clue and an interest in customer service.

Once the reg saver has matured and there is nothing decent available after their accounts get terminated.

Our credit files are not excellent but decent enough not having issues elsewhere.

I can confirm a second family member has received £200 despite receiving it the last time which should've made them ineligible, thanks NW that's £650 for two people, maybe next year too, now of to barclays!
  • So our Virgin Money Joint account has switched today to Nationwide.  Not received any text from Nationwide yet, but am I right in thinking that the text is usually a day or two after the switch?  Reason I ask is because I'm in a bit of a hurry to get the nationwide sole accounts ready with 2 DDs to switch to the Barclays.

from my experience the text to confirm switch is complete arrives in the afternoon of the day of the switch and then between two and four days later the incentives text arrives
