Legitimacy - You really think that the likes of Martin Lewis would be mentioning such bank switch offers if there was anything dodgy about them? I mean does it say in any bank's T&C that switching continuously would be counted as fraud? Please try to use a bit of common-sense.
Free money - If you feel free money is not worth it, then by all means, don't bother doing the switch and let the rest of us fill our coffers instead.
Length of offer running - So make your mind up - are you in or out? ....As for when the offer ends, well how long's a piece of string? But as someone has rightfully pointed out, this offer has been going since 21st Sept 2023 and there is no end date, but there's always a high chance, like previous banks have done, this bank can also pull the offer anytime.
“Is this legit? Can this be done? Somehow doesn’t feel right to me”
I had just never heard of people opening up spare accounts for switch incentives. So I was simply looking for find out more info…
I have since have done my research…And yes, I see now that the likes of Martin Lewis and others have talked about the benefits of switching accounts for incentives.Lots of information out there also.
Reason I asked how long this would be running for because I doubt now I would have time to open and account, get 2 DD’s and wait for a debit card to start the switch before time runs out on the offer.
1. Since we don't know when Nationwide will withdraw the offer, I suggest that you go ahead immediately and make an application for Nationwide Flexdirect account.
2. When Nationwide ask what date you want the switch from your old to new account, choose the very latest date possible. I'm assuming you should be able to get a date 3-4 weeks ahead.
3. Once you've done this, download and setup the Plum and Moneybox savings accounts on your smartphone as they are app-only and it doesn't take very long for setting up each one.
4. Then setup a £2 weekly DD for Plum/Moneybox to come out of your existing account that you are going to be switching from.
Hope that's simple enough, but you can ask on here if you get stuck.Regarding the DD - Are there any other ones I could use that don’t require that weekly commitment? I am sure I read somewhere that somebody set up a credit card DD for minimum payment but didn’t actually use it - it just set up the mandate.
not sure how long it takes a mandate to set up also
finally, do the DD’s need to have left the account for their first payment before being active? Also won’t be able to open an account with nationwide to start the switch as I believe I need a new debit card number ?Thanks0 -

Open a Nationwide account
Open a burner account and you will have a debit card in the post in about a week
Set up 2 direct debits on the burner, they take about 15 days to show up on the account , I chose PDSA and Water aid £2 per month, choose the dates you want them to go out, (at least 15 days later)
Choose a date to switch
I took up the incentive offer early so had more time to get organised
Just keep your fingers crossed and as I say if you miss this one there will be others along before you know it0 -

Hi,
I was looking at the Nationwide FlexDirect £200 switch and noticed that on a part of the T&Cs it said 'It must be the first time you've got one of our switch offers on a sole or joint account since 18 August 2021'. I had a FlexDirect account up to mid 2022, for which I received the switch offer (I think was also £200) from that account but that would had been received a few years before 18 August 2021. Would I be able to take advance of this switch deal or would it be counted as that I don't meet the criteria?

Yesterday a text from nationwide at 2pm confirmed I qualified for the offer and the £200 will be in my account within 10 days
Today I checked my account and there is £200 more than I had yesterday
Thank you nationwide
Now I will cancel the direct debits as I have them on another account0 -

As soon as the Nationwide incentive came on stream I opened an account, I then added the two direct debits to my burner (Metro) and they took about 15 days to show on the account then I did the switch
PDSA lets you choose any date, Wateraid gives you the first available date which is about 15 days in the future, in that respect I would set up Wateraid first then PDSA on the same day1 -

interested in this offer.i have wrote a few cheques to companies in last few days .what will happen when the companies try to cash them if I swap to nationwide.plus I'm on a dmp and one if my debts is with RBS who I bank with.i read if you switch you do it manually or something to stop RBS doing a bank grab for the credit card debt I pay them on a dmp
but this nationwide offer does switch automatically and moves payees. wages. DDS via the switching system
plus when do I tell my employer to pay into nationwide or do I never have to trouble admin dept at my employerChristians Against Poverty solved my debt problem, when all other debt charities failed. Give them a call !! ( You don't have to be a Christian ! )
