I've always been a reader. I am 62 next birthday. I 'devoured' library books as a child, often reading an Enid Blyton in one day. I read now a mixture of memoirs and novels. I only tend to read in bed though

I read about 6 books every 10 days depending on the weather & what else I have going on.
All from our local library.

I also prefer real books. A local charity shop does 10 for £1 and they always have plenty of almost new books. I really must stop going there as I now have over 150 books to be read on my bookshelf. Have always been an avid reader since I was very young. Tried Kindle but not the same in my opinion. You can’t beat the smell and feel of a real book 😍I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)8

There’s nothing quite like the smell of an old , thin paperback, like the old Penguins. And they take up less space on the shelf.8

I'm the daughter of two librarians who met at library school in 1948. We (4 siblings) were brought up to read & could all do so before we went to school. I used to read my older brothers' Biggles, Jennings, Just William & Colditz books when I was fed up of my St Clare's, Mallory Towers & Chalet School books, and even tried Ivanhoe aged 10 😳
Nowadays I read proper books at bedtime, but Kindle on my phone during the day & when away.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Most libraries have an online option which is free. Our local is Borrowbox where you can download books, return them and also have audio books and magazines4

My local libraries use Borrowbox but I can never find anything - or if I do it is reserved for the next 9 months 🙄2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇
