Welcome @NornIronRose. I hope you'll find us a friendly bunch and as it's a mse thread you'll find it fits well with the OS threads. 😊

Consultants vary hugely. Some just trot out the SW training like it's magic, others are a bit realistic and are understanding of people's lifestyles. Do try to stay to group sometimes or try different groups if you can. Often the tips you pick up from other members can be as useful as anything the consultant says.

Having friends or work colleagues doing SW is helpful too.

Do ask any questions you like and you'll get an answer on here quite quickly. I lost 3.5 stone in just under a year and have maintained for 12 years. I go to group about every 2 months but mostly keep track on here. 😁

My group closed down and I went to another fairly local one but didn't like the consultant and now travel nearly 15 miles each way to go to another group.  If you can get to another group then I'd give that a try.  Just because you've joined at one you don't need to carry on going to that one you can go to any group you like.  Once you find a group you like you can asked to be transferred to that one.  I hope you manage to find a group where you like the consultant.  It makes a lot of difference when you get one you like and who will support you.

Welcome @NornIronRose to our lovely thread.
I will say that the social team who do various roles in groups are also members trying to loose weight.
I would hate to think someone described me like that :(

    Evening all

Welcome Norm, that group sounds inviting................not! I personally think you get so much out of staying at a group, i started SW in 2016, got to target in 2017 and still go everyweek unless i am ill/on holiday , i can count on one hand the amount of times i do not stop to group. You make great friends and pick up so much knowledge.
I am also part of social team and would hate to think people are negatively talking about us 😏

Well done Sue and Son, that's amazing.

Coxy so sorry to hear about your dad :( so difficult when he is so far away 🤗🤗

Mum is now waiting for an emergency scan appointment 😪 but she says she is back to normal, the doctor says just checking, but she had the same scan at a&e 🤷‍♀️ We are going to see Joe Pasquale tomorrow so that will make her giggle as she likes him, i am taking her for jabs Saturday and shopping after group.

Well i didn't enjoy that sauce nor did DH so won't be having it again!

I know what you mean @beanielou. The social team are volunteers and so members trying to lose weight just like the other members.

Nobody would say that about you because it wouldn't be true. You're a great example to others as you keep on chipping away and losing even though it's not easy.

Unfortunately, we've all met people who just treat SW as a social occasion and never seem to get anywhere.

In my group, the consultant doesn't seem to lose much at all. I'm sure she's gained over the years and seems about 2-3 stone overweight. In the other one I visit occasionally, the consultant started at the same time as me in my group and became the national Slimmer of the Year. She's put most of the weight back on.☹️

I can see why @NornIronRose was surprised. Isn't it the case that people are invited to be consultants because they've shown they can successfully lose weight with SW?

Well done on your loss @SingleSue.👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 And, good luck with getting your next shiny award next time.

Do you always eat the same things because that's all you like? I do try to vary our menu but it's not easy. I know some people say variety/changing things around can help weightloss. You're right about medication, it can play havoc. All in all, 2lbs is good.

I can understand why loose jeans are comfortable with your abdominal problems but might it be worth having some thin and fat clothes for good days and bad days. I was delighted last night when a skirt that I know only fits when I'm in target range was comfortable to wear out dancing.

That was good of your colleague to swap shifts @Longwalker. Obviously, getting hungry was a problem for you when you started earlier. You've done so well to smash your original target. Try to relax and enjoy yourself in Tuscany, you deserve it.

I went to Tesco last night @joedenise and picked up some LTL mayo. They are dated until next August so I stocked up. I think I'll give one to the next SoW basket too. I always try to donate something I'd like to receive myself.

Glad you got to speak to your dad this morning @Coxy11. Does he need to go to that other hospital for his health or just because the journey suits his wife? I wonder what would happen if the vets was more than 20 minutes away? 🤔👿

Another fairly eggy day. I enjoy them but I really need to make some soups and/or think of a few more lunch ideas. Last night I was hungry when I got in at about 11 pm as I'd had an early dinner. I used the other half of my HEB to make an open sandwich (cheese, onion, tomato) and it went down very well. 😋

    Today's EE plan-
B- HEB toast, HEA milk for drinks, fried eggs (P), baked beans (F)
    L- Spanish omelette (P,F,S), pickles (S)
D- chicken casserole (P,S,F), cauli, broccoli, cabbages (S)
    Syns- cornflour 1

Money mainly, it is what I can afford (aka very cheap), the variation comes when something else is available on a yellow sticker or special offer.

Re the jeans, I'm holding off as the extra pair of jeans would cost money and I just don't have it right now, so it is make do until I can.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

We've stayed for group twice, once when we joined and once when we became couple of the year. I'm not one for happy clappy groups and my time is limited due to other commitments.

I never stayed at WW either, didn't harm my weight loss journey as I got to goal with no issues.

I actually find it quite cringey, most of the suggestions for meals are a complete waste of time for me as they would take my entire food budget for the week for just one meal, so it leaves me feeling quite inadequate, a bit of a failure and really quite depressed and de motivated.

  • Sorry if my observations were a bit pointed. A couple of the social team were really nice but the others and consultant were just off. As an example, she gave us a form to fill in and also had the starter packs on the table for newbies. She didn't actually give me one and sent me to the other end of the room to get logged in and weighed. That took about 25 mins which was fair enough.
I saw the others had their starter packs and looked back at table which was now all packed up. I very timidly asked if I could have one and got eye rolls and tuts from the consultant and the other one. They gave it to me but just made me feel like I had really put them out.
Just left a negative feeling for the first one.

I will take your advice ladies and stay for the group session and see how it goes. And will check out other local ones too.

Happy with one tip I got. I'm an awful emotional bed time grazer since my ex left. Easily can go to bed with lots of snacks. I put together a wee collection of mainly free fruit, a hot drink and a pack of lentil crisps. That has satisfied my cravings and I haven't even eaten most of it but I know it's there so I'm fine.
