Ive had a very up and down week regarding foodIve been good all day and then raided the biscuit barrel 2 nights on the trotThis is a rarity for me, even when not trying to loseI think the wedding stress is doing me head in now. Now everyone has left and we head Sunday, the stresses now have time to surfaceAlso Ive been on 10 - 2 shifts this week and they really do mess me right up. I have to leave here at 9 to allow time to get there and find parking and sit and eat breakfast, and I cant do breakfast that time of day. Ive taken it and eaten in, and then come 11am, Im getting hungry and that hunger stays all day so even a meal at night doesn't keep me full for the night. So Ive swapped them all with Rita who likes them and my 12 to 4 shift, with me eating at 11;30, a cup of soup around 3pm and I was good with just needing dinner and no cupboard raids last night - good hearty beef stew with the potatoes cooked in to thicken so syn freeTonight its chicken stir fry and egg fried rice. So few syns they really wont be worth worrying about - 1 tablespoon of oil between four or 5 portions of rice and a spray or 3 of oil for the chicken and veg.Oh the pumpkin soup is syn free, Just roasted pumpkin , water and stock cube and lots of pepper. We cater to the older then me generation , they like their food plain and simpleMy last weigh in is Saturday morning. Im hoping for a pound but you know if I haven't got it its ok ( well Im telling myself it is ) I went wanting 16lb off, Ive smashed that so Ive reached my original goal and thats what counts2

Morning all,
Great losses @SingleSue and son - amazing, really well done!
Good that you've been able to swop your shifts @Longwalker. I hope you have a peaceful few days before the wedding and well done on smashing your target x
Have spoken to DDad this morning - he's wearing an oxygen mask so it was a bit muffled, plus we have the time lag on the phone. He hopes to be transferred to the other hospital this morning (they are 2 hours ahead). Stepmum is being a wuss and now will only drive max 20 minutes - the hospital is an hour away so she is planning to visit using the bus?! She is mid 60's and they have a 3 year old automatic car. The mind boggles. How she expects to care for her 9 (yes now 9) house cats plus feed the 40+ local strays twice a day is beyond me.
Food today:
B - All bran, mullerlight vanilla, strawberries, blueberries - HEB, 0.5, S
L - Apple, 2 satsumas, JP, tuna, LTL mayo, tomatoes, pickle - S, P, 0.5
D - SW easy chicken curry with rice - free
HEA - milk
Syns - hi fi bar 3 plus 1 = 4 total

Morning all, a lot of heavy rain yesterday afternoon and through the night but not raining at the moment but more forecast later.
Sorry to hear about your dad @Coxy11, the emphysema sounds really bad. Did it come on suddenly or has he had breathing difficulties for a long time? Sounds like stepmum cares more about her cats than your dad which really isn't good. Although probably expected after the way she was when he was in the UK visiting you and your sister and insisting he went back rather than getting sorted over here.
Well done @SingleSue and son - you are both doing amazingly well. You'll hit that 5 stone award soon.
Need to go shopping today as nearly out of fruit again! Just got a couple of apples and a couple of figs left.
Today's plan:
B - porridge, mixed frozen fruit, maple syrup - HEB; S; 0.5
L - couscous, lamb, roasted vegetables, dried spices - S; F; 2.5
D - mince loaded with lentils and veg made into a hotpot, runner beans - P; S; F
HEA - milk
HEB - porridge
Syns - tsp maple syrup 0.5; 50g lamb 2.5; 25g piece bread pudding 3 (counted it as bread and butter pudding as not on the list but would syns would be similar)
Have a good day everyone.

Well done on your loss @SingleSue.👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 And, good luck with getting your next shiny award next time.
Do you always eat the same things because that's all you like? I do try to vary our menu but it's not easy. I know some people say variety/changing things around can help weightloss. You're right about medication, it can play havoc. All in all, 2lbs is good.
I can understand why loose jeans are comfortable with your abdominal problems but might it be worth having some thin and fat clothes for good days and bad days. I was delighted last night when a skirt that I know only fits when I'm in target range was comfortable to wear out dancing.
That was good of your colleague to swap shifts @Longwalker. Obviously, getting hungry was a problem for you when you started earlier. You've done so well to smash your original target. Try to relax and enjoy yourself in Tuscany, you deserve it.
I went to Tesco last night @joedenise and picked up some LTL mayo. They are dated until next August so I stocked up. I think I'll give one to the next SoW basket too. I always try to donate something I'd like to receive myself.
Glad you got to speak to your dad this morning @Coxy11. Does he need to go to that other hospital for his health or just because the journey suits his wife? I wonder what would happen if the vets was more than 20 minutes away? 🤔👿
Another fairly eggy day. I enjoy them but I really need to make some soups and/or think of a few more lunch ideas. Last night I was hungry when I got in at about 11 pm as I'd had an early dinner. I used the other half of my HEB to make an open sandwich (cheese, onion, tomato) and it went down very well. 😋
Today's EE plan-
B- HEB toast, HEA milk for drinks, fried eggs (P), baked beans (F)
L- Spanish omelette (P,F,S), pickles (S)
D- chicken casserole (P,S,F), cauli, broccoli, cabbages (S)
Syns- cornflour 11 -
Hello all.
I started SW on Tuesday so it's all very new to me. I have resisted as I didn't want to pay out money every week just to get weighed. And I figured I could do it myself. But I have been hovering around the same weight for a while now (bloody menopause!) and am getting nowhere really.
5 people I know from different places have all started SW lately and each of them have lost 3 stone. I sit in work at lunch with my cup a soup and crackers while my colleague is chomping away and the weight is dropping off her.
So I have given in and have paid up front for 12 weeks as that seemed less painful than having to pay £5.95 each week just to get weighed because I will not be staying for group unless I find a different one to go to.
Lurked in the background this week and listened. The consultant was ridiculously patronising. Spoke to one of the men who had stayed the same weight for the past 2 weeks and told him off in front of everyone and she was about 6 stone heavier than him!
That was what amazed me. The ones who were running it, 2 of them had lost weight but the other 2 are very, very overweight and have been the same since my friend went to it a few years ago.
So I am jumping in with both big feet and with a plan of losing 3-3.5 stone.
Will pop in here for support and meal ideas as I love MSE old style and figured you guys will be as friendly.
Had fat free greek yog with frozen berries for breakfast then a late lunch just now of a mushroom omelette. Munched lots of raw mushrooms as I cooked.
Cut up melon and had several chunks of that too.
Hoping the accountability of going to get weighed each week will work for me. I lost 6 5 stone many years ago when Rosemary Conley first came to Norn Iron.

Welcome @NornIronRose and well done on doing a 12 week countdown. It will give you a great start to weight loss. It's amazing how much you can eat isn't it? That consultant doesn't sound very good - no way should she have been telling anyone off for STS 2 weeks running - it happens sometimes, what she should have been doing was asking what she could do to help so that it didn't carry on.
Not quite sure what you mean about 4 people running it but assume you mean the people who are part of the Social Team who help the consultant by running the shop, taking the money and weighing members. They are just members like you.
Good luck with your weight loss journey.
1 -
Ah the social team are just members? That makes sense.
There are a few other local ones around so I will find another one and give it a wee go. If not, I will just go to get weighed.
I run and would really love to run at events without feeling like the biggest one every single time.
Not that I am always the biggest there, but it feels like it.
Apologies if I sounded quite negative about it but it was just cringingly patronising and didn't sit well with me at all. Not good for a first timer to hear. And when I have mentioned it to the other people I know who go to different groups, they weren't surprised at all!
My manager used to go to one for years with a great consultant. She moved and found that the new consultant she just couldn't take to at all so stopped going.1
