Afternoon all, what a horrible day!  It's been heavy rain on and off since 5am!  Looks like we're likely to get a storm in an hour or so!  It's already getting dark outside.

    Very quiet on her today.

So sorry @bubbs about your friend.  So glad you were able to see her last week before she was only allowed family members.  Thinking of you at this very sad time.  Good that your mum has the all clear though, that must be a relief to you both.

    Today's plan:

    B - scrambled eggs and spinach, toast - HEB; P; S
    L - leek and potato soup - S; F
    D - spag bol - P; S; F

    HEA - milk
    HEB - bread
Syns - none planned but sill have something later

    Hi all,

So sorry to hear about your dear friend @bubbs – thinking of you hun xx Glad to hear though that DMum has been given the all clear, bless her, such a relief x

I’m a care group administrator @Longwalker so just plain clothes and a lanyard normally. Was exciting to see action at the coal face last week J

I’m out in London tonight with former colleagues. It’s stair rod rain here atm but due to be down to only 25% by 5pm. I’m catching a bus to the station and will go from there to the West End. Slightly wishing I wasn’t going – not because I don’t want to see ex-colleagues but because it’s a bit of a schlepp after a days’ work! I’m not going to drink as DH is in Solihull so I’ll have to make my own way back from the station later. Might even get a taxi if the weather is foul.

    Food today:

B – overnight oats, mullerlight vanilla, frozen cherries – HEB, 0.5, free

L – cucumber sticks, cherry tomatoes, cheese portion, 2 satsumas, apple, Teddy bear crisps – S, HEA, 4.5 (channelling @bubbs picky plate!)

D – will grab something en route – there is a Leon at London Bridge so might see what’s on the app and not to naughty! Failing that might have to be 6 nuggets for 9 syns!

    HEA – milk

    Syns – 5 currently……

    Sorry for your loss @bubbs

    Today' plan
B muffin mince pie thingy (all gone now)!!! (HEB 3 syns)
    L veggie soup
    D SW chilli and rice
Snacks, Banana, satsuma and FF yoghurt
Debt free and Keeping on Track
  • Rain? Sick of it now. Been hammering it since Thursday, we have rivers, not roads. Getting out for a walk is a nightmare, cars rarely slow and trying to find a bit of verge thats not pure mud or in front of a puddle is nigh impossible . Even with wellies my leggings are clarried.. And walking in wellies slows me down and hurts my back

I have had absolutely no meal plan these past few days and Ive got to be honest, I was back at the white bread, well the part baked rolls they sell here in Lidl. Never got to get a bite to eat till 3:30 ( bad habits are creeping back in ) so two cheese rolls stuffed with tomatoes and rocket and a good smear of that sugar mustard - OMG its to die for. Its like a wholegrain mustard, but totally full of sugar so its mustardy but caramel -ly , treacle - ly . Im going to have to hide it before I slap it on my yoghurt

So I used the rest of the slow cooked lamb in a shepherds pie. I had about a quarter bag of frozen casserole veg that went in, there was some cabbage left from yesterday that I mixed into the spuds and served with baked beans. OMG it was so good, but of course I wasn't hungry so ate very little. Three portions for the freezer left

Mr L is moaning that hes full of wind with a gurgling belly and needing the loo more often. Now seeing as I was real poorly in that department last weekend one can just assume that hes a touch of a bug ( the grandkids have been off school with the same ) plus cos Im eating more veg, everyone has to and hes just not used to it. Now I never ever thought our diet was "bad", I scratch cook every day and buy very few processed foods, but we were all obviously veggie dodgers, Im the cook, if I dont like it Im not cooking it. No wonder mum spends so much on fruit :)  But we did have our favourites, a good curry served with rice and naan, now served with lots of spinach and onions and air fried aubergines, chip pan fish and chips, now air fried chips and baked fish, with even more veg, bacon butty is now a BLT . Slowly the tweaks are becoming second nature. If Im cooking something that in the past was high fat, high carb, low veg, it I cant totally adapt it, thats the one treat meal for the week. So Im not having pastry the same week Im having spring rolls as a side to my Chinese dish for example and I now have a butter mountain in the fridge :)

Think I got all the Christmas pressies now, other then two friends, all the meat has been got, told mum shes on peel and blanch next week when the veg come on sale. Ive two partially empty drawers In the freezer will be more once the turkey comes out so Im ear marking one for veg to get us to easter with luck. I always try not to spend between Christmas and easter unless it has a yellow sticker. Ill have over time in Decembers pay and will get extra hours during the sales

    Anyways Ive waffled enough

Hope everyone is doing well, where they want to be and looking forward to a few days holiday

    Morning all,

My evening with ex-colleagues was good. I arrived at the pub at 7pm and they were already 2 hours into their drinking! I stuck to soda water and lime cordial - £1.29 and free!! I grabbed a Pret plain croissant at London Bridge as didn’t want anything too complicated as had to stand and eat it there and then – I hate eating standing up!! I got home just after 10pm.

@Longwalker – my DH is also a veg dodger and would gladly eat just meat with a little carb on the side! It’s only because we eat SW-friendly evening meals all the time that he eats any veg!

    Food today:

    B – croissant from home – 8

L – cucumber sticks, cherry tomatoes, cheese portion, 2 satsumas, apple, snack a jacks – S, HEA, 4.5

    D – M&S BBQ chicken flatties, SW chips, green veg – 4

    HEA – milk

    HEB – hi fi bar

Syns – over syns for today at 16.5!!

  • @coxy11 hes going to be well stuffed with veg tonight, Im making lamb sag - 300g of spinach is just the sauce and Ive sent him down to get another bag to wilt in once its cooked lol

House smells wonderful - kitchen looks like a war zone :)

Still I think its syn free, I trimmed all visible fat off the lamb, cooked all the onions, garlic and spices with just two squirts of oil, put the lid on so they sweated. Only other ingredients are tomato paste and water

I do have a large collection of spices and a good selection of herbs in the garden and dry for back up so curries feature a lot here. First time making this one which is here traditional-lamb-saag

Afternoon all, just back from group and pleased to say that I've only put on lb over the last 5 weeks.  Still well within target range at just 0.5lb over my actual target.  Won't be weighing again until end January/early February so plenty of time to put more on what with Christmas, New Year and a 2 week All Inclusive holiday!

Glad you enjoyed your evening drinks @Coxy11 and meeting up with your ex colleagues.

That lamb curry looks really nice @Longwalker and definitely no getting away from the spinach in that!

    Today's plan:

    B - mushroom omelette - P; S
    L - toasted cheese sandwich, pickles - HEA2; HEB; S
    D - toad in the whole, roast potatoes & veg, green beans, peas - S; F; 6.5

    HEA1 - milk
    HEA2 - cheese
    HEB - bread
    Syns - LF sausages 2; flour 4.5

Hope everyone is having a good day.

I'm a big fan of Hairy Bikers' recipes @Longwalker. I use their chilli one and my absolute favourite has to be the braised steak. They designed it as a cheaper way of having steak and chips which is delicious if you like chips with gravy but it works just as well for a roast dinner.

Braised steak recipe - BBC Food

It only needs minimal tweaking (Frylight and I add mushrooms too) and I count it as free as there's only a (shared) tsp of cornflour in the whole recipe.

Glad you had a good night out with colleagues @Coxy11. It just proves they can be good! We're out tomorrow and Friday so 🤞🏼 we'll enjoy them.

My DH loves veg!  I think it's a throwback to his childhood as they are a huge family and it was probably the cheaper option.  I've come to enjoy a wider range since we've been together, like swede and a range of cabbages but I do draw the line at sprouts.😱

Sorry I was MIA for a couple of days but DH and I have been feeling under the weather although much better today. My back was playing up, which it does from time to time, and the medication for it makes me like a zombie. DH has a heavy cold, so much so that he didn't g to his event last night.  So I didn't get my chips and egg as we fell back on a freezer meal . Last night we had Bolognese and tonight we're having meatballs . It's a bit samey but we'll enjoy it. DH sorted last night's meal and when he served up he commented that the spaghetti looked very flat. Doh!! It's linguine. 🙄

    Today's meal plan-
B- HEB toast, HEA1 milk for drinks, fried eggs (P), baked beans (F)
L- ham (P), fried veg and pickles (S)
    D- meatballs in tomato sauce (P, F,S) spaghetti (F), HEA2 Parmesan
    Syns- 0
