    Hi everyone,

New job is.......well...... let's just say I've left behind an atmosphere of gloom and inherited another. There's one lady in my office who moans for approximately 75% of the day. I have very little to do and asked if I could join 2 of bosses meetings tomorrow to which she said No as they are particularly spikey. I had one meet and greet this morning then took an hours lunch and did some e-learning whilst listening to Miss Moanalot. Tomorrow I have 4 meet and greets and next week, the excitement(?!) of attending a theatre session in the breast department. Not sure I have the stamina for it, but we shall see.

I know it's early days, so I mustn't get despondent.

I've been taking food in - yesterday a cous cous salad from M&S and today some LO spag bol, plus the usual fruit. There is no end of tuck in all offices I've visited - biscuits, sweets, cake, mince pies - have resisted so far. Miss Moanalot says it helps get her through the day hmmmmmm.

The bus home tonight got stuck in traffic so I walked 1.5 miles home and still didn't see the bus go past, so hoping the steps will come in handy. In fact I might just get off one or two stops before home when I can, just to stretch my legs.

Well done on the loss @NornIronRose xx
I am just so grateful I let the NHS when I did

14 years of pure hell on earth, stuck with it for the pension, which `I now claim, but I do wonder was it worth the breakdown

    Evening all.

I have had one hell of a day! 😫

First off i couldn't find my car keys at 6.30 this morning, i had my spare which i defrosted the car with, but this meant i had no door key, no padlock keys for work, then i had a brain wave, someone came to collect something last night, they were in my boot! So car keys, storage box keys , house keys.
Take DH work go to the storage place couldn't open the padlocks even with half a can of de icer 😡 so left there went and did some work, lost my glasses!! I knew they had to be about, found them stuffed down the side of the passenger side!

Mum rang in tears, you know she wasn't well a few weeks ago? well she went for a scan Sunday, they said 2 weeks she would hear, well they have rang today she has to go again on Sunday 😪 i said don't worry yet they are probably just double checking something. I know she says but look what we went through last Christmas i don't want to put you all through that again.

THEN my friend that was diagnosed with MND has told ne they have given her 2 months 😪😪😪 GUTTED!!

Surprisingly i have been on plan

    Banana

    Ham and Melon

Chicken casserole and veg, believe it or not first time i have ever cooked chicken casserole, well first time i have eaten it! 1 syn

Blow me down, the scales continued being nice to me and actually bestowed great gifts which resulted in a 2lb loss. After all the drugs, steroids and a diet that had to be put together with what middle son could get at the village shop and that required very little prep.

Total loss is now 5 stone 3lbs and I am 11lbs away from target (which may or may not move when I get there - we'll see)

Middle son lost 3.5lbs this time round and is 1.5lbs away from his 7 stone award.

Talking about middle son and the previous mention of calorie counting and SW combined, it is exactly what he does do and has done since about week 3 of being at SW. He just couldn't get on with the plan and found it far too restrictive whilst out and about, so came up with his own one as he couldn't do my solution which was go without completely and pretty much starve until I could eat at home. I now switch to calorie counting when out and about but still try to be sensible and chose wisely (lean steak and jacket potato with gravy or a low calorie sandwich with a low or free syn filling and wholemeal bread).

I also don't do the third or whatever it is speed on the plate, I don't like green veg but I do have lots and lots of eggs and syn free fish/sea food/ham/chicken and have my HEX A every day (I have to be extremely careful with HexB items, I get a serious reaction from eating it everyday that completely messes up my intestines and leads to a complete halt in processing)

It is quite funny, we were asked what our secret was just after we weighed, we couldn't exactly say how we pretty much take bits of the plan and add bits of others, so we just said that we have absolutely no idea.

For those wondering why we still go to SW, it gives us accountability and keeps us on the straight and narrow. We'd fall off the wagon if we didn't have that.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Well done @SingleSue and son - you are making the plan work for you and that's what's important. Great weight losses for both of you xx

So sorry to hear about your friend @bubbs - sending hugs xx Positive thoughts for your DMum on Saturday xx

Not sure what you did in the NHS @Longwalker but this is a high graded (8) admin person - I'm sure it is stressful however some perspective would be nice. I'm in a small office with 8 desks, 6 of which are permanently occupied, one is for someone currently off sick and the other a hot desk for visitors. I think Miss Moanalot does a 9 day fortnight so will look forward to her non-work day.

I forgot to have breakfast yesterday and only realised at 9.30am when my tummy started rumbling. There was no fruit in the canteen apart from very green bananas, so ended up at the Co$ta on site and got a raisin swirl. Naughty but the best option in the cabinet and at least it contained fruit!

Dinner tonight is spaghetti carbonara - nice and quick. Will take a wrap for lunch I think - I need to get into the habit of taking lunch everyday that doesn't need heating. We have a MW in the little kitchen but are not allowed to heat smelly food which means no curry leftovers etc.

    Have a good day everyone,
    Coxy

  • Morning all.

Happy St Andrew's Day to you to @beanielou

Oh dear @Coxy11, I find there's always one in every department in the NHS who constantly moans.  I usually find that by asking them what they would do to fix it stumps them for a bit and you can get some peace and quiet.  I also find that senior managers can sometimes be a little protective around what they're doing and don't like people shadowing them - just take it on the chin and enjoy not doing a lot for the moment until you get to Theatres.  I remember being invited to observe a particular theatre list once and turned out it was a lung transplant.  Was equal parts amazed and queasy and really needed to sit down by the end of it!

Well done on the loss @SingleSue and agree that you need to make the plan work for you, and it clearly is!

So sorry to hear about your friend @bubbs and hope your mum's scan goes ok.  Sounds like a right palaver with the keys and I'm always worried about my car keys because I only have the one set 🤔

Managed another 5km walk and yoga session last night and have to admit I definitely notice the difference in how I feel when I make an effort to move my body.  Need to try and work up to going for a run and getting some strength training back in now.  Had porridge with blueberries again for breakfast as it's so cold.  Lunch is going to be the last of the stir fry mix I made with noodles and then dinner is the second portion of the biriyani I made last night (and very nice it was too!)

Hope everyone has a good day!

  • Bubbs yesterday sounds so stressful for you! Your poor friend (my mum had MND so I know how difficult that is). Thoughts will be with you and your mum for Sunday. Hopefully all will be well.

Well done singlesue and your son. That's amazing!

I totally blew it last night. Was out with my besties for dinner. Mains was fine, charcoal grilled chicken steak with spicy rice and salad.
But then we had dessert. I ended up with a 'sod it' moment and had sticky toffee pud and custard! Realised on the last mouthful that I'm going for fasting bloods today lol. Aw well.

Tomorrow we have our work xmas dinner. I booked my menu choice before SW so it definitely is not SW friendly. Apart from tomorrow I don't celebrate xmas anyway so this week will be my 'blip' then can get back to proper eating.

I've never seen Nevilles bread here but will get some Aldi one.

Your post was so helpful Longwalker that I've screenshotted it. Thank you so much. Got the next few days off so will properly plan and start eating SW again on Saturday. Today will be putting flat pack furniture together and unpacking as much as possible as we moved almost 3 weeks ago and still have lots of bags and boxes around.

Have a good day everyone and stay warm.

Oh, Coxy, don't let Ms Moaning Minnie drain you of happiness completely!
