Condolences @MrsPorridge look after yourself and DH
Fabulous! @longwalker so happy for you 🥳🎉
STS for me which I was OK with after pizza and wine night. After taking parents shopping, I’ve had a very relaxing day reading my book 😁 I can’t remember the last time I’ve done so little.1 -

I'm back! 6 pages to catch up on!
Mrs Porridge my condolences to you and hubby. Still hard even when expected. At least he has you to support and nurture him.
Well done on the losses everyone especially Longwalker!!!!!!!! That must feel incredible.
Well, we finally exchanged on Thursday afternoon and moved on Friday. So so stressful what with one thing and another. My kids told me I better die in this place as they are never helping me to move again lol! No hope though as I fully plan to retire back home. Been a real learning curve this time. Didn't have the stress of ex husband being involved (except the odd message and email) but I have ADHD and realise that he would have forced me to get things done. Anyway, I know have the joy (not!) or challenge, of trying to fit the contents of a large 3 bed semi with a large kitchen diner into a 2 bed maisonette with a tiny bathroom and small kitchen. Living room and bedrooms are a decent size but the kitchen has half the cupboard space and there is a windowsill in the bathroom but no room for even the tiniest cupboard! There isn't even a towel rail!
Thankfully my daughter's best friend gets married next week so she will get my mixer and food processor etc as I genuinely have nowhere to put them. Grateful to have too much stuff so I can give lots to the chazzer too. As my daughter told me, we don't need 9 glasses!
SW has gone out the window I'm afraid. Can't even get to my fridge as it is hidden behind boxes. Have been having takeaway food and haven't even had a cup of tea for 3 days as I couldn't find a mug! Have had grilled chicken with salad, instead of chips. Did have pizza Friday night as we hadn't eaten all day and had been on my feet since 5.30am.
Planning to sort out the kitchen today. That will be frustrating but satisfying. Cupboards are not as deep as my previous kitchen so my baskets don't fit. Will use up whatever lidless tupperware I can find instead.
Anyway, this isn't getting the baby bathed as they say, so have a great day everyone. I will try to find a vegetable to eat today lol.0 -
Morning all, it's a bit grey this morning but at least it's not raining at the moment. No doubt it will be when I have to pop out this afternoon to pick up a TGTG bag from Morrisons and fill up my car. Would have done it when I went to Tesco the other day but their petrol is always far more expensive than travelling over to Sittingbourne to buy it there so I try to avoid filling up there whenever I can. What's the betting that it will be tipping it down when I have to fill up?
@NornIronRose So pleased you have finally exchanged, completed and moved albeit in just the 2 days! That must be so hard. Moving is stressful enough at the best of times but when you are mucked about in the way you have been it must have been even more stressful than usual. I know you said you'd try and find a vegetable to eat today but you did at least have a SW friendly meal one day with the chicken and salad so you haven't been completely off plan the whole time! Takeaways are the only way when you move especially when you can't even get to your fridge. Good luck with fitting your stuff into your downsized property. It's a good time to have a complete sort out.
Well done @Jellybaby. STS is good and definitely far better than a gain!
On to today's plan:
B - fry up - P; S; F; 2
L - burger, onions, gherkins in WM pitta - HEB; S; 0.5
D - LO stifado, roast potatoes, roasted carrots, green veg - P; S; F
HEA- milk
HEB - WM pitta
Syns - sausages 2; burger 0.5
Have a good day everyone.

@MrsPorridge, condolences. And forgive me for not seeing your post yesterday. I was rushing to get to work and just wanted to give my news so Im afraid I skimmed through the previous posts. As you say, a blessing but still upsetting all the same. A difficult time ((((((HUGS)))))Well done on STS @Jellybaby. Oh to have a day of pleasing ones self - bliss
@NornIronRose, Guessed you had moved, bloody stressful isnt it? I remember moving into my last house, didnt find the place mats until we were packing up to move again 10 years later lol. When we moved here, we came in the car with a blow up mattress, duvet, kettle and cups etc, the dog and a tv - furniture had been sent on a week before and was in storage in Belfast to arrive the following day. House was freezing, 3ft of snow, no oil, and that night we sat huddled around the dog eating my first ever sliced sausage supper from the Chinese - my first ever Norn Irish mealDont be panicking about takeaway food , its a few days, and you are already picking the healthier options , you will get back on track soon enough. Oh although I have a big house and good sized kitchen, the Kenwood is in the lobby. Have a rather ornate cupboard in there, stores the tool box and Kenwood , easy lifted in and out for the couple of times a year its used. As for towel rail, cos my bathroom is in the eves so no real walls, I got one that goes over the back of the door for about a tenner in Dunelm , has hooks for dressing gowns as well@joedenise, I have never ever ever got a TGTG bag. Ok so I live rural and theres not many places signed up, certainly none of the big supermarkets but Ive added all that are. Yesterday I thought Id finally got one, alert came through, but it was for cakes and I thought best not. Real posh place as well - but I held outThank you ladies for all the kind words. I really was on cloud nine, even though I had a rotten head cold. I really just wanted to share how happy I was. I had had a terrible week, exhausted, getting stressed to the hilt, picking at all the things I dont usually bother with with one hand, yet shovelling speed into me with the otherI was so ruddy determined for that lose that Friday night here is usually fish and chip night and I was so determined I was seeing the week out right I thought Id have an omelette . I had spinach and half fat feta. But I was looking at those chips and thinking this isnt going to fill me, so I found half a pack of made up couscous and shoved that in as well . lol. Well it filled me, but it was ruddy horrible lol Honestly, even the dog turned his nose up lol
This isnt just about looking good in clothes. Last year I was in such a bad depression I was barely functioning. Everything went to pot, not just me. The house was a mess, I was a mess, I had stopped socialising. Then I had my fall and that really knocked me for 6. I was stuck indoors and just ate carp. But that look in the mirror that day really upset me. With the wedding coming up I had to do something and so walked into SWI have an appointment with the Practice Nurse on Tuesday, an over haul. The last one I attended early last year, she asked how much I weighed and when I didnt know said jump on the scales. I said to her, only if she never told me what it was. Thats how bad I was , I knew I was storing up trouble but I couldn't face it. So god love her, she didnt tell me, didnt berate me, took my bloods and said she would send on some information that I could read and digest in my own time. When the blood came back she was on the phone asking me to go onto Statins - I refused. The information pack arrived and got thrown in the binCome Tuesday Im going in nearly two stone lighter. Im also going back with a normal ( ish ) BP and Im hoping cholesterol will be down , should be as theres no butter, minimal oil, tiny amounts of cheese, very little processed foods in my diet. I also haven't taken my antidepressants for months. I exercise nearly every day, I go out walking for pleasure , I have more energy. I have a lovely job. My house is now looking good, I keep on top of things , Im even going to the staff Christmas do - I NEVER go to staff Christmas dos. I can get in and out of the car without using the steering wheel to haul me in. My aches and pains are a lot less Best of all is Ive found a small circle of friends who have stuck by me through these past couple of years and I found you guys who understandSo now Ive got to tackle Slim for Life. Its daunting. I know Im going to have to continue with meetings for a while to come till I get to understand where I am with that , I mean I can actually have more HEA and B - woo hooo . But then what would I do with it? Eat bread and go back? Im studying the site and my books and I know you guys have so much experience to share. I dont think Ill ever need to put shoes on to weigh in, but it will be nice to wear normal clothes1 -
You'll get there @NornIronRose.🤗 See it as an opportunity for a fresh start. Take an inventory of everything that's in your fridge/freezer and cupboards. When you first start, most people have food items that aren't SW friendly in stock but being mse we just can't throw it away. If you can't feed it to someone else then try to use syns for it until it's gone. Now I just try to buy food that's SW friendly. When you've got yourself organised and ready for a shop, have your meal plan (and associated shopping list) ready to go.
It's always a bit of a dilemma whether to drive to the best value petrol or pay more for something closer @joedenise . I always try to do like you and kill two birds with one stone. Asda used to be cheapest around here and I pass there often but since it's been taken over, the cheapest is in Texaco garages that have the same owner so I have to rethink my routes. Hope you get something SW friendly in your TGTG bag. 🤞🏼
Today's EE plan-
B- HEB toast, HEA milk for drinks, fried eggs (P), baked beans (F)
L- beef and vegetable soup (P,S,F)
D - HB braised steaks (P,S), roast potatoes and parsnips (F), many Speed vegetables (S)
Syns- horseradish 2? weekend wine😊

Have to say both the Morrisons near me the TGTG bags are usually very SW friendly with loads of fruit and veg. there's usually a loaf of some sort - have even had the WM large loaf once which can be used as HEB, otherwise DH gets to eat it. Same if there are any cakes or fruit buns etc but have to say there's not usually more than one or two things which are not SW friendly. Sunday is always the best day to pick up the bags as they seem to be more loaded than the mid week ones and also means it's daylight when we go to pick them up which is a bonus as far as I'm concerned!
Meant to say I got a zero alcohol spiced rum a week or so ago. It's very similar to the real thing I usually have but a wee bit sweeter so as I usually only have a couple, each with half can of Light ginger beer it's not too bad. It's also completely syn free!
Edit: just back from picking up the TGTG bag. It was the worst bag we've ever had! It was just a bag of stale bread and rolls and one large potato which was full of holes and a limp hispi cabbage which I had to take several layers of leaves off to some usable cabbage. Will chop up the potato and cabbage later to see if any of it is any good for dinner tonight! I contacted TGTG and complained and have just had a reply to say they are refunding me!1 -
Hi everyone,
Sorry to hear your news @MrsPorridge - so sad even if it was expected. Take care lovely xx
Well done on STS @Jellybaby, a little gain @bubbs and the loss @MrsPorridge x
Fantastic to hear you’re at target @Longwalker whoohooooo!
Great news on the house move @NornIronRose - I wouldn’t be too worried about food. Just take your time to unpack and be good when you can xx
I did Pay yesterday but didn’t weigh. Have been pretty good but got a bit bunged up this week (sorry TMI!) Might have been the horror of having to provide a bowel screening sample 😳
Took Mum out to Macknade today @joedenise - we both had the winter salad of goats cheese, BNS and beetroot. Was so busy in there - nearly an hours wait for food!Have a good evening everyone.Cross-stitch WIP: Fiver Friday challenge 2025 founding member 😊 Read 25 books in 2025 11/25 Currently reading The Cliff House by Amanda Jennings0
