I'm not an existing customer and I got an email right away with my ID number then an account number & sort code a few hours later.silvercue said:
Are you an existing customer? If not, how did you complete the process so quickly?Goonerannie said:As Santander were withdrawing this account at 11.59 last night, I applied around 10 pm. I had acknowledgement of my application, but no confirmation until this morning. I see the rate I have been given is now 2.5%. I would advise anyone who applied last night to check the interest rate they have been offered. Needless to say, I won't be investing.1 -
I've just got all my access sorted to this account and have deposited some funds on the monthly interest option, however quite disappointingly I can't seem to figure out two basic things that are normally pretty standard for savings accounts. I called Santander but they weren't very helpful either, so does any know...
1) Is it possible to change the date on which the monthly interest is paid. (I'd like it on the 1st of the month)
2) Can I nominate an account to have the interest paid away to? (Ideally a current account with another bank)

Pretty useless for my needs then really. Will stick with it until something better comes along I guess.0 -

Once you've set your current account up as a payee, logging in on the 1st of every month and making a manual transfer of your interest would take less than a minute and the good thing about online payments from Santander accounts is that they really are instant. This would be a small price to pay in return for having the one of the highest-paying easy access accounts in the UK at the moment, IMO.chutuk said:ColdIron said:

Alternatively, once you know roughly how much to expect, you could set up a standing order which is a good feature of this account that you don't get with the majority of the other high-paying easy access savings accounts. Edit. Discovered this isn't right. Santander do give you the option to set up a SO from within the account but then tell you it isn't actually possible once you try. Awesome !0 -

Is this possible? I can only set up SOs from my 123 Lite and Edge current accountrefluxer said:

Don't think so, doesn't seem to be an option online to set up SO other than from CA.ColdIron said:

I just had a quick look in the app and there's a menu item within that account for 'Standing Orders' and because I don't already have any set up, it just tells me that - which suggested that it must be possible - but then clicking the (+) button to add one, it tells me that it's not possible from that type of account.0

SOs are not offered from the savings accounts. You can, however, set up individual internal transfers or external payments for future dates if wanted. A bit laborious, not something I would use.
