Still waiting too Luckybert. I thought I'd try and register using account number, but it told me to wait for passwords in post.
I have my sort code and account number and I was tempted to transfer some money into it, to start earning interest but would like that confirmation that the money is in here, and for this of course I need my online banking details.
If you have a Santander branch near you, you could make a test deposit online and ask at the branch whether it's reached your account. That's what I did with their previous issue

Well, that's passwords arrived, online account set up and funded now. Easy peasy. I did actually transfer £1 the other day and it was there when I first logged in. I also set up mobile app and that's up and running too, although still to have a proper look there.

For those familiar with Santander, do you always get an OTP sent to your mobile every time you log in?

No I haven't I have rarely got a OTP asking for it on login, but I assume its saved your device for short duration. I assume if you clicked the "I'm on public device" it'd ask every time (not tested)

I think I have had an OTP when I haven't logged in for a month or two because I have been abroad.
Many thanks, I was obviously getting them for logging in to new devices whilst getting online with them for first time. I'd just rather not have to depend on them all the time, as my mobile communications can be a bit flakey at home at times. Had to request resend a few times before I got one coming through.
... do you like it or make it?

Yes as you say it's most likely for logging in to a new device. I log in to online banking with my security number and old debit card number and never get an OTP, it's been like that for over 5 years now. I also always check the using public device box because I use BT Wifi.
Thank you for info, good to know. So I should be good now with laptop and mobile. Was a bit of a pain earlier moving all over the place, inside and out to get a mobile signal. To be honest, it was really bad today, not usually no bars showing, but typical when I was dealing with setting up new online banking account.

Yes I do like the website interface, seems quite clear and easy to deal with. The app seems absolutely fine too. One thing, I was expecting a notification to tell me money had arrived, but didn't get one. Will have a look tomorrow to see if I can get this in settings, unless anyone tells me this is not an option.

The default is no notifications. You can change this in online banking (not in the app) though even then it's a bit lame because they don't send the notifications instantly. I only get notifications after 10am, and I think it stops at 5pm and on non-working days.So I don't now bother with them. You're probably better off checking in the app. Faster payment credits usually arrive the second the sending bank actually sends them.

PERHAPS I've misunderstood ..thought the deadline for opening was today at 11.59?? is this correct?
    The deadline was last night

In practice though,  it was still listed on the Santander website at 00:10 this morning and I applied and got it. Not sure what time it was pulled  but happy to have been lucky having read the MSE newsletter then kicking myself.

Pulled for accounts - I guess succesfully opened - not pending validation - if above posts correct - last night.

This published yesterday at c1pm - saying being pulled at 11:59 on 12th.

Its definitely gone off of savings champion - possibly other best buy sites etc.

Now all those who got it have to do - is monitor in case Santander don't maintain the rate relative to others - if say BofE raise rates a couple of times more.

And even if not immediate - need to remember - it's only good for a year.  It reverts to a really poor rate account after.
Obviously who knows what circumstances will be in one year, however I think they said the same about the previous limited edition saver, but then extended the time period later.

Great info, thank you so much. You have saved me raking through it all, I really appreciate your help and screenshots.
Suppose I have just got so used to getting notifications landing practically immediately. I can live with checking myself as know that my main bank does transfers promptly. You are a wee star.

opened last night around 11pm i got the same message 5 working days, however not received any email acknowledgement that opening account request. anyone else heard nothing yet?
A relative of mine applied earlier yesterday evening and got a confirmation email around 4am this morning, so I would guess you'll probably hear later today provided you don't fail their online ID checks.

    ---

I seem to have broken this quote box somehow, as well as Santander's computers.

The one I applied to second via my internet banking was opened first, and had an email around 06:00 this morning with sort code and account number and correct account information attached showing 5%.

The one I applied for first as a new application (before I realised it was so easy to recover the internet banking, and that I had the account) was opened around 11:00 this morning, the details attached were the 2.5%

Logging into my internet banking it showed both accounts, and looking on the interest rate on both, it shows that they are at 5%.

I have filled the one applied via internet banking with £1 for now (as that one seems to have the correct details), and I expect to lose the second one or will close it if the account is indeed 2.5%. Confused? You bet I am.

I am also a shareholder so no doubt when the time comes I will vote out whoever is the CIO Lol. The messaging desparately needs some more certainty or depth to it or detail about what the hold up is - something saying we'll email you within minutes or 5 days is a poor show.
  • If I download the Santander mobile app to my phone will the Easy Access Saver show in the app?

The reason I ask is that I have a Virgin Money 1 year fixed rate bond and it doesn't show in my Virgin app.

Also now that I've received my account number and sort code, I'm tempted to transfer some money into this new account however should I wait until I've received my temp password etc via the post?

So given the very limited availability, and class leading interest rate, do we think this was really just a publicity stunt from Santander?

Probably, on the other hand, at least we now know they don't have liquidity issues.

Aren't most 'offers' or 'deals' from any retail outlet a form of publicity whether it be a bank, supermarket, furniture store etc.

It attracts attention, that's the name of the game in retail. It's done to raise capital, improve liquidity, increase footfall to be able to sell additional products, diversify their investments and send a shot over the bows of the competition.
