using the EA Savings account to hold cash that goes out every month to pay bills. I cant find a way of creating a standing order from EA to the current account, is there a way?

No standing orders unfortunately, but at least you can set up future payments (unlike many savings a/cs I've had). Very unusually these future payments can be set up to be processed at the weekend so I've one set up for this coming Sunday to fund the current a/c that will have the SOs for regular savings going out on Monday.

You can set-up a one-off deferred transfer/payment, both internal and external, and possibly more than one, I haven't done one but I know someone who has https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/80306582/#Comment_80306582.

Yes, you set up a future dated 'transfer', but you will have to do it each month and only in online banking, not the App.

You can set up as many future payments as you like in the app, too.

You just can't view, modify or cancel future one-offs in the app. You need to use online banking for that.

It's similar to managing SOs, which can also only partially managed in the app, and you can only see one page of SOs in the app. Tough luck if you have more SOs than fit on that page....

They really should bring their app into the 21st century.

thanks to all, seems like an obvious gap, my bet would be they dont want to make it easy to automate regular payments from EA to current account

Do any savings accounts support Standing Orders? I put up a post asking this last October and there were no answers.

The Chase saver does. Its 4.1% rate is not competitive though but it processes the SOs 7 days a week, which might be useful for some.

Kroo current account pays 4.35%, and there are one or two others who also pay interest.

Skipton's ones do but don't work very well...
You need to have sufficient funds in the savings a/c in order to set up future payments. This takes no account of the fact that you know more funds will be added in the interim. If the future payments are standing orders it becomes even more tricky...
I had left £500 in the tracker a/c (after transferring the rest out to a better paying a/c). 2 x £250 standing orders had previously been set up to fund our monthly regular savers. Only one was paid out. Presumably it reserved the remaining £250 for the next payment of this so failed to do the 2nd transfer. I called them and they said the failed transfer would still be done later that day but it wasn't. The following day I was able to cancel the SOs and manually do the transfer. A few days later we received a letter informing us of the failed transfer.
