That’s a gorgeous card!DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Playing the Game 🎲
This one's called 'Guess How to Get Paid' 😂 Mr F received an email yesterday from his former employer letting us know that we'd used the old rates in our latest invoice. They said that they would process the invoice but could we add the difference to our next invoice. We said we'd be delighted... if only we knew what the new rates were!
It is good news that we're getting a pay rise - if, of course, we ever get paid. Today is pay run day for them so we'll see if we get lucky 🤞
I did the meal plan and grocery shop yesterday. We've come in over budget this week but I think that's because I forgot to add quite a lot of items to the list last week when we came in under budget.
Meals have been boiled eggs and marmite toast, Mixed Fruit & Nut Granola with kefir and fresh pears, Ultimate Falafel Wraps and Frying Pan Celeriac Gratin with sausages. The Gratin is supposed to serve two but we've had two meals out of it already and there's enough left over for a third portion today. I did use quite a large celeriac in the recipe 😆
Mr F started repairs on our gates and fences yesterday and required a post hole digger and some postcrete so money was spent. We also want to buy some hedging trees before the window for planting ends but I've held off to see if any invoices get paid today. If not, we might have to dip into the savings to keep the accounts balanced.
The new hedging will be willow, alder and sea buckthorn for the bottom of the paddock where it is often very wet. The willow and alder are good for wildlife and the sea buckthorn will have edible berries. Also some flowering currant for our edible hedgerow.
It is very, very wet again today. Mr F is frustrated as he has this week free and wanted to get work done outside. I have found him some barn jobs so, hopefully, that will keep him out from under my feet for a while 😆 I have plenty to do inside 😆
The macerator in our en-suite had a blip yesterday so I've poured some cleaning fluid into it and am hoping that will solve the problem. It was replaced quite recently and isn't used much so I'll not be happy if it's on the way out.
Mr F has just returned from walking FDawg and is dripping all over the kitchen so I'd better go mop and placate him with coffee and a piece of the Brandy Butter Shortbread I made yesterday.
