The sunshine today tried to convince me it was spring, but the frost on the flat roof of the extension and on the summer house told me otherwise! I spent most of the day working in the quiet room of our house which sadly faces north so had no chance to channel my inner cat and bask in a sunbeam!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! I remember my ears hurting with my new glasses and I had to go back, I think they warm them up somehow and bend them. They did warn me it was at my own risk so I was slightly concerned but it was all fine. Mine are now at the very loose stage because I tend to wear them on my head which stretches them. I'm not ready for a glasses chain around my neck yet though I used to have one in the 90's"Think of many things, do one"

themadvix said:Well done on sorting the exchange differences in the account Fortune - it's not the easiest thing to work out. I take it you've found this page. All I do is update these after I've reconciled my bank statement each month and then the system recalculates exchange diffs - assume it's similar for you.
Hope you get the glasses sorted soon - it's horrible when they're not comfortable.
Thanks MV - the problem is, my accounting software uses one exchange rate and the client's US billing software uses another. And, even if both were the same, the rate at the time of raising the invoice is not likely to be the same on the date of payment as you know.. My accounting software matches bank deposits with invoices but of course doesn't match if the amounts don't agree. However, I've found you can manually match them and allocate the difference to the currency exchange rate. Any loss is automatically allocated to expenses. Took me a while to figure out how to do it but it's easy when you know how 😆
I wore my second, night-driving pair of glasses this evening for the first time and they are more comfortable. They have an anti-glare coating and I wasn't expecting much from them but they really helped to reduce the dazzle from on-coming headlights. Giving them plus points for that.Staffordia said:Like you I am waiting for spring. It has been sunny today in the flatlands of East Anglia and at times it has felt like the sun had a tiny bit of warmth to it.
The snowdrops are looking fabulous this year Staffordia and I noticed our daffs are starting to come out too. Spring is on the way.

Basking in a sunbeam 😊 - that sounds like a wonderful way to spend time. I think the hinges on mine might need loosening Sandy - it's like wearing a vice on your head 😆 What a good idea to wear them on my head though - I shall start doing so immediately and hope they loosen up. Apparently glasses chains are all the rage for Gen Z at the moment 😂

As in if it is wool it tears them to bits, they don't do cotton a lot of good either. You want to try wearing glasses with hearing aids. I am not recommended to have in ear hearing aids so they go over my ears along with my glasses.4

Some accounting systems/tiers do allow you to add multi currency in ... however the easiest is often to just have a fx bank charges Expense line in the accounting so you can add the difference ... but sounds like you got that figured out already
I am loving the sunshine - managed to get a decent walk today and yesterday in the sunshineDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

I see what you mean Fortune about exchange diffs - yes, writing them off is the only feasible way to do it!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

.Yes - a cord would be much better BM. You must have very strong ear muscles by now 💪👂💪😂LadyWithAPlan said:Some accounting systems/tiers do allow you to add multi currency in ... however the easiest is often to just have a fx bank charges Expense line in the accounting so you can add the difference ... but sounds like you got that figured out already

Mine's set up for multi currency LaPlan and, now I've figured out how to do it, will automatically add any difference in currency exchange rates to expenses. I'm still learning how to use the system properly but am getting there. If only people would pay us I could get some more practice in 😆savingholmes said:Good luck with the invoices.

FDawg likes to lie in a sunbeam too Vix - not many to be found around here today though.

❤ Happy Valentines ❤
Mr F sent me a Valentine's card about farts 🙄 But he did write something very sweet and romantic inside 😍 Then he must have felt a little self-conscious about that bit and hid it amongst lots of fart jokes 🙄 And I later discovered that he hadn't written the romantic bit himself but had used AI to generate it 😲 He is sharing the giant t0bler0ne I bought him with me though so I suppose all is forgiven 🤔
No anonymous invoice valentines have appeared so far today 🙄. Neither have I received a promising 'phone call or text from the garage - even though I managed to speak to a manager yesterday and he promised to get back to me quickly 🙄
We have had an unlovely quote in from the Window Company though. Our new back door is going to cost nearly as much as the new boiler 🙄 It is significantly more than we'd anticipated but I think we'll go ahead with it as it will make a huge positive difference to our day to day lives and provide a solution for leaving FDawg when we go out. We might need to wait until people start paying us before we book the work though... and I might have to send Mr F out for a few days more client work 😆
Mr F made boiled egg and marmite toast for breakfast yesterday and we had leftover soup for lunch with buttered sourdough. Supper was savoury pancakes with mushrooms, cherry tomatoes and cheese followed by sweet pancakes with lemon juice and sugar - nom, nom, nom 😋 Today Mr F made porridge for breakfast and we had caramelised red onion and goats cheese bruschetta for lunch. We're going out supper (it being Valentine's Day and all) so I'm looking forward to a night off from cooking.
I made a huge mistake with the credit card last month. Mr F's pay day used to be before the end of the month and was the trigger for me to pay the credit card. After he left the job, I shuffled the payment date to the 1st of the month to coincide with our pension payments which is.... too late! 😲 By one day! And, of course, that happened after Christmas when our bill was at its very highest! Stupid, stupid Fortune. That's £99 straight down the drain 🙁 I told Mr F and he shrugged and said "Mistakes happen." So, despite the AI generated, fart filled Valentine's card, I think I'll keep him.
Lots of love
? x
