There do seem to be a lot of fart-related Valentine's day cards around - not my cup of tea either! Mr F really needs to learn when to keep his mouth shut about use of AI 😂 But he sounds like a good egg, those two faults aside 😉
Hope payments arrive soon - it's always nerve-racking with a new client. Once you get into the swing of things, there'll be less stress, hopefully!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Are you sure Mr F didn't say S*** happens as it does. When I was working my financial affairs were a lot simpler. Payday last day of the month & everything else goes out in the next month, an absolute doddle. My personal pension which is not much was larger if paid annually so I did that. Then there is my state pension paid every 4 weeks so financial planning is so much harder. Then there is HMRC with their so called simple assessment, which it definitely is not. Dementia could well be an issue!

Fortune - just delurking to ask if you’ve tried calling the credit card company about paying a day late? I once did this for an MnS credit card and they looked through my file and acknowledged I’d never been late before and wrote off the interest charge. Apologies if you’ve already tried that. PS really enjoy reading the goings on in the Fortune household, thank you for sharing.8

Definitely recommend calling the company and asking them to look at the account and consider waiving the charge as this is the first time.6

Good luck.

Fortune, you are not stupid! Ever!! It might be worth calling the credit card and asking them to waive interest on a goodwill basis. I've done that at least once. Didn't read the above comments first but see you have quite the posse of admirers suggesting this. Love Humdinger xx5

Eating Frogs 🐸🐸🐸
Yesterday I sent an email to our non-paying client about the overdue invoice (issued November). It transpires that they have that invoice on hold (wish they'd told us) because it includes subsistence amounts for alcohol (a glass of wine with meals). They don't pay for alcohol apparently (wish they'd told us). So, I amended the invoice and resent it as requested along with another which is due in 3 days and is probably on hold too because it included a single glass of red 🙄 I've been promised that these will be processed in the next pay run so we might get some money next week 🤞 I'm going to be straight on to them the very day any of our further invoices become overdue as they obviously don't keep their suppliers informed. It doesn't help that their accounts payable department number rings into a dead line 🙄 They've provisionally asked Mr F to do two further jobs but he'll decline those if the contracts come in and we still haven't been paid what we're owed. They are desperate for him to do this work so it should help to concentrate their minds 😈
Mr F was scheduled to pick up his new glasses today and I needed to get mine adjusted so off we went to the big south town. Mr F bought a couple of pairs of walking trousers whilst there (in the sale and with a further 10% off for being a member of something). And we indulged in a lovely lunch out. Mr F remarked on how nice it was to be out and about gallivanting on a school day 😁
On the way back we went into the garage to find out why they had not repaired the problem they caused when they did the safety recall work (in December). As I suspected, it's because they are negotiating with the manufacturer over who will pick up the cost. I politely and diplomatically said - NOT MY PROBLEM! They agreed, apologised, ordered the part required there and then and promised the manager would call me on Monday to book the car in. When I got home and checked my emails I found that said manager had sent me a message at 10.30pm last night offering me some dates to book in 🙄 The visit wasn't entirely a waste of time as I now have a much better understanding of what has happened and they have admitted liability. So if anything further goes wrong, I have a leg to stand on.
I'm pleased to have these two frogs consumed as they were playing on my mind. An embarrassing payment demand to a client and a protracted tussle with the garage and possible court action do not make for a fun prospect. Anyway, crises averted for now and I can relax for the weekend.
I'm hoping we can get out in the garden sometime this weekend. Everything has started bursting into life and we haven't even had a chance to put it bed for the winter yet because of the dire weather. Mr F has a new, extendable hedge trimmer which is burning a hole in the box so I expect something will get done 😉
I'm exhausted after all the frog eating and this morning's early start so I think it might be pizza and wine for supper tonight.
Happy Friday all!
Fortune x

Glad that you have managed to deal with those two frogs.Dire communication from the clients accounts department. Hopefully they will now pay promptly. Surely they would make it clear that they would not pay for alcohol.I am a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Mortgage Free Wannabe & Local Money Saving Scotland & Disability Money Matters. Mr F is a good egg Vix 🥰 And I can read him like a book 😂 I knew something didn't feel right about the romantic bit so I asked him whether it was pre-populated text. He can't lie and crumbled under the pressure 😂
This client is Mr F's former employer and we thought we knew them warts and all. It's very different seeing them from the 'other' side though.badmemory said:Are you sure Mr F didn't say S*** happens as it does. When I was working my financial affairs were a lot simpler. I think I missed a beat because our regular pay days have changed and our pay from Fortunate Inc will be very irregular. It may take some getting used to. Mr F was polite about the mistake this time BM - for a change 😂rtandon27 said:Farts & AI in the same day! Goodness Fortune, I'd not have coped - you are of made of sterner stuff than I am! 🤣🤣🤣
The fart stuff I knew about when I signed up Mr F 😁 But the AI stuff is all new and it's very interesting to see how it's creeping into our culture. And a bit scary too 😨listoflists said:Fortune - just delurking to ask if you’ve tried calling the credit card company about paying a day late? Thanks for delurking LoL (love that I can shorten your name to LoL 😊). I'll give it a go - although the card is in Mr F's name so he'll have to have the conversation and it's not easy getting him to do admin type stuff. It's all rather dull stuff here at the moment I'm afraid - but after the drama of last year, I'm happy with that 😁CCW007 said:Definitely recommend calling the company and asking them to look at the account and consider waiving the charge as this is the first time.

I know SH. We went out for a Valentine's supper on Wednesday and I didn't share my chocolate brownie with him 😆Humdinger1 said:Fortune, you are not stupid! Ever!! You're right Humdinger (and kind) - I'm not stupid. But sometimes confused, distracted, tired. I've let it go now but it was infuriating when I put so much time into tax efficiencies, conscious spending, etc. All it takes is for one to take one's eye of the ball for a moment but I am only human 😊 Although Mr F thinks I am Deanna Troi as I have an uncanny ability to sniff people (him) out 😆
