Tired and grumpy from this effing cold and joints and periodness
One of the cats sat on my laptop so the down button now doesn't work. I did not realise how much I use the down button

Small bit of work
Small lunchtime nap
Shower and hairwash
More writing dates into diary. A week at a time or my wrist feels like it's going to fall off
Tried to adopt a more positive mental attitude and went up the high street to put Christmas cheque from relation into the bank despite the awful weather. So some steps got but still want to catch up on some from over Christmas. Just need a day with some additional energy!
Dinner is spaghetti with left over pasta sauce, with lots of extra onion and garlic added

Podgy and tiddly is not an unreasonable way to get through January. Then you've got 13 days to detox and de-podge before you can eat chocolates and drink vintage champagne for Valentines. Then it will be spring and you can decide on your next season's well-being strategy.
by the way I think valentines is yet another commercially hyped up day but I don't mind the chocolates just to be polite.0 -
Aw thanks @KajiKita
I mean, each to their own but as far as I'm concerned, no-ones giving out medals for enjoying your existence less, it's the middle of blimmin winter, have the wine and the chocolate!
Vintage champagne and chocolates (just to be polite) @Blackcats?! There was I thinking you were going to be a cheap date what with your egg chip and beans stance 😁2 -
I'm not doing dry anything either. I have a 19 year old and sometimes the only thing that stops my best mate having to bake a cake with a file in it (to break me out of jail) is a large gin and tonic. Besides January is about 400 days long isn't it? You'd need something to get through it.
I have to go - the cat wants to go to bed on my chair. The chair has my heated throw on it. She was just sitting watching me giving me "the look" but she's started to make the go to bed noise now 🙄

Hello @PennysIntoPounds. I have been reading your diary and have shifted myself from lurking to posting. The tuppence club sounds great - do I have to apply to join?🤣🤣
I definitely laughed at your dry January comments. I’m another who doesn’t do dry January. I’m not much of a drinker of alcohol but I like what I like and I want to choose when to have it. Agree you couldn’t choose a worse month to do it.L x2 -
I’ll share a quote from a sadly now no longer with us colleague of mine who once said: ‘they say if you eat healthy food, exercise and don’t drink you’ll live longer - you won’t, it’ll just feel like it’ 🤣🤣
To be fair he was about 30 stone, had loads of health issues and passed away in his 50s but his comment still tickles me to this day 😆I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4 -
Welcome @Less_Talk_and_More_Action, nice to have you along. No application to join Team Tuppence other than a willingness to find and appreciate small savings where they can be found, and general sending of firm good wishes in all of each other's directions- sometimes with an emphasis on firm and meaningful looks in the direction of the general universe if life isn't playing fair!
Wholeheartedly agree with your colleague @Sun_Addict 😂
May he rest merrily in peace2 -
Felt a bit brighter earlier though painkillered up to the eyeballs as period has kicked in and cold still very much lingering, got a cough like Jimmy Carr has found something particularly hilarious
Little bit of work
Admin comping tidying
Yougov survey
Even wussier situps than usual but as I've felt rubbish for what seems like months and done very little movement, thought I should make a tiny effort before period gets worse
Walk up high street for some steps, cheekily asked for discount in Lidl as the tubs of hummus were quite bashed in and got 36p off.
Then when I paid I got 20p off as a coin was somehow already lodged in the payment mechanics
Went to savers to get paracetamol, thinking all the boxes in the same section were the same thing, I paid then thought 'shouldn't that have been cheaper?' Turns out caplets are more expensive than tablets so despite the cashier giving strong 'for goodness sake' politeness I got my refund of 24p!
Using up YS large mushrooms, for lunch I grilled one with puree and garlic and primula and it was delicious
Signed up to supersavvy, probably won't get selected as it appears they want influencers rather than product testers but at least I bothered to enquire
Entered some competitions, today I'm mostly looking forward to winning 2k but I'd also like a £200 M&S voucher, and if I'm honest, a tissues and soap bundle.
Was very pleased with myself for being up for some more steps (thank you ton of painkillers) and Mr PIP and I ended up walking to the pub that's also a florist. Had a couple of pints there that I wanted to buy Mr PIP as he's recently bought a new bedding set and declined me contributing to the cost
We had a lovely time until we looked up when the bus was leaving on google, got to the stop in time, and the driver said he wasn't leaving for another ten minutes. I was not pleased. I know it sounds minor now, but you know when you feel shoddy and you're trying your best to be a person who engages with life, and you've done nothing wrong but bloody tech makes things worse for you and then a bus driver won't even let you pay and sit, and you're just standing there in the cold January night rain with the dregs of a cold and period concerns... it all seems very harsh!
Well, me being a bit of a t*** (I was cold and sore and worried about needing the bathroom, okay?!) was not the end to the evening out. We got back and Mr PIPs key broke in the door!
I hasten to add we weren't having a barney, he wasn't using unreasonable force upon it, it just- broke.
Which of course is exactly what one needs in the cold January night rain when cold and sore and worried about needing the bathroom!
I broke my nails as badly as the key, trying to get a hold on it- we conceded we had to ask our only neighbour who seemed to be in, neighbour didn't have pliers or tweezers but did eventually coax out the key bit stuck in the lock with two little metal thingies (technical term).
So thank goodness for nice neighbours, and also for red wine.
Dinner was Lidl big cheesy pizza with added garlic and onion
Accompanied by the sound of one of the cats throwing up in multiple spots
It's been one of those evenings
